Post-TIFF, the Best Actress Oscar Race Is Scarlett J vs Priyanka

The Toronto International Film Festival gives, and takes away

So when TIFF audiences give a standing ovation, you have to figure out what it means. They enthusiastically applauded Netflix’s “Marriage Story” with Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson on hand, which continues to build momentum from Venice to Telluride and Toronto

Never-nominated Johansson is duking it out in the Best Actress race with  Priyanka Chopra who drew arousing and lengthy ovation at tiff that left the actress in tears. 

  In particular, Priyanka has earned some of the best reviews of her career, catapulting her into a particularly strong Best Actress field.  John Baxter, a Paris-based, film critics observations of priyanka's performance reflected most critics, “It’s thrilling to see her previously untapped, formidable dramatic abilities on display in a lead role.”

Isn’t The Sky is Pink a Hindi movie? How can she compete with scarJo? Am I missing something?

Roma was in Spanish but was nominated and won numerous awards at the Oscars last year, the actress was nominated for best actress as well, so it’s possible but just really hard. 

As much as I like PC Nooo way!!! There are others before she comes and some applause at TIFF doesn’t mean anything

Indian movie making a cut at the academy is not easy let alone win anything.
