Midnight ArShi OS

The sky was beautiful.The stars were twinkling.But that was not enough for Khushi.She needed the terrace to be decorated as it's a special day for her as it was hers and Arnav's second anniversary.They are not married yet.But their love life completed 2 years.

Khushi decorated the terrace with flowers and lights.She kept a cake on the table.

She waited for Arnav eagerly.

"Arnav...where are you?

Hours passed.Arnav did not reach.Khushi became gloomy.

"Why is Arnav becoming late?

She tried to ring him up.But the phone was switched off.

She was really upset.

"Why did Arnav switch off the phone?Guess the phone's battery is dead.

Khushi did not know when she slept on the terrace waiting for Arnav.

Suddenly someone tapped her shoulder.She opened her eyes and looked at that person.

It was Arnav.

Her face blossomed.

"Arnav!.

He smiled wishing her,

"Happy Anniversary Khushi.

A sweet smile crept on her lips.

"Happy Anniversary Arnav.

They had a sweet embrace.

"Arnav,why did you become so late?I was waiting for you so long.

Arnav's face became dull.

He replied.

"I am sorry Khushi.There was an emergency operation.So I had to stay there in the hospital itself.

Khushi smiled,

"It's ok Arnav.You are a doctor and I am happy that you are dedicated to your job.I am proud to say that my Arnav is busy in his life to save the lives of many people.

He smiled.

"But Arnav...you said today you have no surgery.

"That's what I also thought Khushi.But as you know y job is such that we can't predict anything.

"It's ok Arnav.I just asked.Tell me did you like the decoration?

He looked at the decoration .Then he smiled at her.

"It's really pretty.But to be frank in front of your beauty this is nothing and that's why this decoration went unnoticed.I can't take my eyes off you.

Khushi blushed.

Arnav stared at Khushi's face with pure love.

She became shy.

"Why are you looking at me like this Arnav as if you are seeing me for the first time?

Arnav became emotional.

"Let me see you more and more Khushi.What if I won't be able to see you again?

It pricked Khushi's heart.

"Why are you talking like this Arnav?You are talking as if after this night we won't be able to see each other again.

Arnav smiled emotionally.

"Life is unpredictable Khushi.

Khushi got irritated.

"Stop it Arnav.Don't talk like this.

He laughed.

"Chill...I was just joking.

"Don't repeat such jokes.It really hurts me.

Arnav gave her a pale smile.

"Ok..I won't joke like this again.

Arnav thought in his mind.

"Poor Khushi.How hurt she will be after knowing my truth if she is getting hurt like this because of some words I uttered!

"Khushi...let's cut the cake.There is no time,

Arnav said.

Khushi frowned,

"What is this Arnav?First of all you are late and you are talking about less time and going back?

"You think I want to leave you and go?No.I want to stay with you always.But I am forced to go away from you Khushi,

Arnav said painfully.

"Forced to stay away from me?But why?

He smirked.

"My mom will be waiting for me.If I stay with you the whole night she will misunderstand us.

 Khushi became shy.

"Ok.Let's cut the cake,she said.

Arnav and Khushi cut the cake

and fed each other.

He held her hand and looked at her eyes emotionally.

"Bye Khushi.

"Good night Arnav.

Arnav walking away tearfully while Khushi failed to see his tears.

In the morning Khushi woke up when her friends Payal and Lavanya rang the door bell.

They both hugged Khushi tearfully.

"Khushi...

Khushi could not understand anything.

"Why are you guys crying?

Payal replied painfully,

"Arnav met with an accident and...

Khushi was shocked.

She asked with shivering lips,

"And...?Is Arnav alright?

Lavanya replied shedding tears,

"He died on the spot itself Khushi.

Khushi was shattered.

She screamed,

"Nooo.

She cried bitterly.

She remembered Arnav joking about not seeing her after the previous night.

"Arnav's joke came true or Arnav knew that this was going to happen?How  could Arnav predict his life?

These thoughts captured Khushi's mind.

Payal and Lavanya took Khushi to the accident spot where Arnav's injuredbody was seen.His mother was crying near his body.Seeing his injured body Khushi caressed his face and cried hugging him.

Khushi and Arnav's mom hugged each other crying.

Payal pulled Khushi backward .

"Khushi..please control yourself.

Khushi wept.

"After yesterday's anniversary celebration at midnight I never thought that I would lose Arnav forever.

Payal and Lavanya looked at her with confusion.

"What?You and Arnav celebrated the anniversary at midnight?It's impossible as Arnav's accident took place at 10PM,

Lavanya said.

Khushi was shocked.But she was not willing to believe it.

"No.This is not possible.We celebrated our anniversary.We shared beautiful moments with each other too.

"Guess you dreamt of celebrating the anniversary with Arnav while sleeping,

Payal said.

Khushi blasted at them.

"I said..we both celebrated our anniversary together at midnight.

Lavanya said,

"Calm down Khushi.But Arnav left this world before that.

Khushi was restless for a moment.She got inside the car and drove to her house.

Payal and Lavanya were really worried.

"It's not safe to leave Khushi alone.She is not in her senses,

Payal said.

"Right Payal.Let's follow her,

Lavanya said.

They both caught an auto as Khushi took their car.

Khushi reached the terrace.She looked at the cake.It was already cut.The icing was scattered all over the table.

"It means I was right.Arnav was there with me at midnight.It was not my dream.If he died at 10PM how come he was with me at midnight?

Khushi was lost in thoughts.

Suddenly she remembered his words about not able to see her later and life is unpredictable.

Her heart beat fast.

"Does that mean Arnav was already dead and that was why he talked like that?Then the person who was with me at midnight...?

Suddenly she witnessed a glow in front of her.It turned out to be Arnav shocking her.

She started sweating due to fear.

"You are right Khushi.I am not in this world anymore.I am just a soul who lost it's body. I craved to see you  for the last time.That's why I came to you.I talked like that as I knew that I won't be able to see you again.I told you that I am forced to go away from you as I have been called to the heaven.   

Khushi burst into tears,

"Arnav!

She tried to touch his face,but she could'nt.

"I am just a soul Khushi.You won't be able to touch me.After yesterday's night my right to be touched by you or to touch you has been taken back.

Khushi was stunned.

"Take care Khushi.I broke the rules of heaven to see you again as I felt that you had the right to know my truth.Now the purpose is over.If I stay here again it will be a sin.I have to leave Khushi.Bye.
Arnav turned into a mere glow which flew away to the sky.

Khushi broke into tears while Lavanya and Payal who reached there held her to console her.
