Yes, I hated that scene too. But actually worse happens in villages today also in the 21st century.

What they showed in Gauri's story, was not very unreal. It is the reality of life. Even today there are powerful people in suburban and rural set up who buy girls like this.

Its called modern slavery.

Gauri's tale is one of survival.
