Varun Dhawan's golden run at the Box Office continues as his recent release, Judwaa 2 has proved to be one of the biggest openers of the year and is on its course to emerge a hit. Dhawan, who made a debut in the Hindi film industry in 2012 with Student of The Year, is yet to deliver a flop film.

In the last five years, the young star has acted in nine films and 8 of them proved to be successful at the Box-Office. If we exclude Dilwale as that was more of a Shah Rukh Khan Kajol film, the actor has had a dream run so far with all his eight releases proving to be successful at the Box Office. Varun has mixed his filmography quite well by jumping between several genres ranging from a comedy like Main Tera Hero, romantic comedy like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, dark thrillers like Badlapur and an out and out Masala entertainer like Judwaa 2.

The shift in genres has worked quite well for Varun as the audience so far has accepted him in all that he tried. The films that he has featured in have consistently taken a good opening at the Box Office with ABCD 2, Dishoom, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2 collecting more than Rs 10 crore on their opening days. In fact, both Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badlapurhad surpassed the trade expectations in terms of opening day collections.

Will Varun Dhawan go past Rajesh Khanna's record?

An interesting point to note here is the fact that Varun Dhawan now stands a solid chance to challenge Rajesh Khanna's record of delivering 15 consecutive successful films. Salman Khan came closest to break the feat achieved by the first superstar of India back in the 1960's, however, Khan's historic run at the Box Office came to an end with the failure of Tubelight. 10 out of last 11 films starring Khan in the lead proved to be successful at the Box Office.

What makes Varun Dhawan a people's star?

Over the years, Varun Dhawan has built a massive fan following among the masses, thanks to his film choices. The actor picked up subjects which not many from the younger lot of actors chose to do and he found tremendous acceptance from the audience. His upcoming films also looks interesting with an unconventional love story i.e. October and a rustic Indian film i.e. Sui Dhaaga. Both the films look promising on paper and if they live to the expectations, Dhawan might become only the third superstar after Rajesh Khanna and Salman Khan to deliver 10 consecutive successful films. While Salman delivered blockbusters one after another, Rajesh Khanna and Varun Dhawan consistently churned out hits after hits.

Not just his Box Office presence, Varun's stance among the audience is also something that allows him to enjoy the success that he has. In fact, he has always maintained that all he wants his films to do is to entertain the audience and leave them with a smile when they go out from theaters. In the past, the actor was quoted saying,

Stardom is a person's ability to connect with his fan. An actor cannot become a star, it is the people who make him a star. Whenever we were at home, my father would say the love of people has made him a star. I don't think too many things have changed in today's time. Salman Khan was a star when Judwaa released and today, he is even bigger than what he was in those days, the reason being he is still connecting with his audience. Salman Khan told me after Student of The Year, Don't take the stardom for granted.'

Varun Dhawan's fan base ranges from the youth to the families to the masses and finally the children, a feat which very few actors have achieved in Bollywood. Here's welcoming the first superstar of Bollywood since Hrithik Roshan, who has managed to get the support from the mass audience.
