Raees keeps Shahrukh Khan unbelievable clash record intact. He is the star with probbaly the most clashes but comes out on top every time irrespective of content. The only setback came in 2001 when Indian beat Asoka but at that time Sunny Deol in the right film was always going to be tough nut to crack for anyone.
The clashes include big victories against rivals Aamir Khan in 1995 (Ram Jaane v Akele Hum Akele Tum) and Salman Khan (Don v Jaan-E-Mann). In 2015 the Dilwale v Bajirao Mastani clash is seen as a defeat in Indian Media but if the wider picture is seen with Worldwide numbers its a comfortable victory for Dilwale and this was only due to the clout of Shahrukh Khan as the film was not liked as to Bajirao Mastani which is hugely appreciated.

Another point to note is that Dilwale in the final count has come out ahead of Bajirao Mastani in Worldwide, overseas, television, music and digital and only down in India theatrical as the film was weak but even there it would have been higher if that intolerance debate did not happen at the time of release which cost the film huge business. It badly affected the film in Punjab, Haryana, UP, MP, Gujarat, Bihar and Maharashtra.
Shahrukh Khan has probably defeated every other major star out there in a clash.

Shahrukh Khan has won 24 Major Clashes and More than 8 Minor Clashes in his 24.5 Years Career. But Minor Clashes should not be counted beacuse Other films don't have any chance of grossing more as they have less than 1/3 Screens. Major Clashes means Clash with some other film which got more than 1/3 screens atleast or have any type of chance of grossing more. One Day difference can be counted as direct clash beacuse some films also have paid previews and some don't.
There will be another pointless clash with the makers of Akshay Kumar starrer Toliet - Ek Prem Katha deciding to take on the Shahrukh Khan starrer on Independence Day week in August but it is asking for trouble. Last year saw the Akshay Kumar starrer easily get the better of the Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro but to take on a Shahrukh Khan starrer is a different ball game.
After Emerging as Stars Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have clashed Three Times with Daava v Yes Boss in 1997, Aitraaz Vs Veer Zaara and Don v Jaan-E-Mann in 2006 with Shahrukh Khan coming out on top every time.
The decision can be because SRK starrer is directed by Imtiaz Ali who has had many opportunities and never really delivered on content so you take a shot that it will be same again. But this time its Shahrukh Khan and a film carrying outstanding reports for its music so even on a bad day it will be far far bigger than any Imtiaz Ali film. On top Overseas may be a juggernaut without Xmas or Eid as its a Shahrukh Khan starrer which is Overseas friendly after a long time.
Another reason which is more likely is that a film like Toilet - Ek Prem Katha will generate far more hype and awareness with a clash rather than a solo release. It is a content film with Akshay Kumar being the only face value and going by the look there is little scope for music and action so creating hype and awareness for an initial is tough but when you tag along with a film like big Khan you go much further then you could go alone.
You only announce on a date where another big film is there if you think you have a chance agsinst it and obviously the team of Toliet - Ek Prem Katha think that. But if the clash goes ahead it is going to be one sided affair as far as the total Worldwide business goes and the only hope for the team of Toliet - Ek Prem Katha will be is to give SRK starrer some sort of fight in India but even that is a huge ask at least initially.
