Keep in mind I have only seen maya 's DED, which I thought that Hareem Farooq overshadowed her any day.. I haven't seen man mahal ( I quit after she married the other guy...) and never saw mere naam yusuf hai.. I just thought Mehwish and Saba were phenomenal in their roles. It was so out of the box and well deserved. They went against the stereotypical heroine and made your heart warm over. Especially Saba I loved her in besharam, she's a symbolism of today's woman.

Lux never is a worshipper of Mahira the way hum isAnd unlike Mahira Maya didn't get anything served to her in a golden platter...neither were categories created for her to award her ...neither were she called a diva n most Gozs looking lady in pak the way Mahira is said to b whereas I find her very average lookingMaya EARNED it...people used to make fun of her dialogue delivery...some saying she is too bubbly...some saying she can't act...she can't cry and to some extent I cud also relate from where these complains were coming from...they were not that invalid eitherBut then bam mera naam yousuf came n people started to say well she isn't a bad actressN then the BOMB Mann mayal came n the rest as they say is historyMahira just gets everythingMaya had to earn it against all odds n I m so proud of herIf Of course mehwish Saba were equally goodI wud hv been very very happy if they got as wellBut for a change n surprisingly Maya was at par with them this time

so obvious they are making maya ali the next mahira khan.
In my opinion Mehwish or Saba deserved more...Their roles were epic, out of the norm and not typecast.

Couldn't agree more with Abby.
Maya had a string of incredibly successful dramas in a very short time. I rewatched Mera Naam Yousuf Hai and Diyar e Dil and it's amazing to think that she filmed these dramas close to each other; it's like watching two completely different people act because each character was different and her movements, her intonation, etc. were all unique depending on which character she played.Mahira had Humsafar. Yes, that was the biggest hit ever in Pakistan, but after that Mahira has not had one super hit drama. They've all been average or above average, but nothing like DeD, MM, etc. Not saying Mahira is a bad actress. She can obviously act and is talented, but she's still riding the coattails of a drama that's six years old, whereas Maya has been growing as an artist and giving us a new hit year after year for the past six years. She's earned her spot very well.
