Tonight we've gathered here to commemorate the one year anniversary of the meeting of our beloved mythological couple Lakshman-Urmila, fondly known as LakshMila. If we pause and rewind exactly 365 days of our life, then most of us would immediately agree that this was the day when it all started. LakshMila's story is probably one of the loveliest and most innocent mythological love story that mostly remained untold for centuries...until people started noticing them for what they were...they weren't silent supporting actors to be cast away in the shadows with sparing mention here and there. No, their story was indeed needed to be told and heralded for being as charismatic and heartfelt as any other is.
We wrote stories as our imaginations ran wild...well they still do...(who cares!), made some beautiful siggies, gifs, video mixes as your creativity knew no bounds when it came to these two. We even vented out on numerous occasion when we thought they were being mistreated onscreen...disagreements gave rise to some very interesting and diverse topics as our love for them only grew to maximum proportions.
In this past one year, all of us became a family...and forged some undying and loving relationships that we are going to cherish for the rest of our lives...So a very big thank you for joining us today and making us feel loved...and blessed.
Their story came to the forefront even more because of the wonderful onscreen chemistry between the two young actors with oodles of acting prowess...Karan Suchak and Yukti Kapoor. Yes they were unconventional, but that very word set them apart and miles ahead of their contemporaries. The conviction with which they essayed the roles especially the romantic scenes, actually made us believe in them. They opened an angle that was never really touched upon by their predecessors. The scenes where they didn't have too many dialogues...they made their presence felt through sheer brilliance of their acting. The innocence, the initial denial but the instant attraction and later their separation resulting in pain and loss, their suffering, their tears and the final joy of reunion were ingeniously portrayed by Karan-Yukti or as their fans call them KaYu.
Lakshman and his twin brother Shatrughna, were born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Sumitra. Lakshman is the incarnation of Sesha, the multiple headed Naga associated with Lord Vishnu. Lakshman marries to Sita's younger sister Urmila.
When Sage Vishwamitra takes Rama for killing the demons, Lakshmana accompanies them and goes to Mithila with them.

Lakshman left his wife Urmila and joins his brother on exile for 14 years, a great sacrifice. He is an invincible warrior committed to virtue and is devoted to his brother Rama. Lakshman served Rama and Sita during their exile with great reverence and devotion. Lakshman made home for Rama and Sita, guarded them at night, used to bring food for them and accompanied them in long tiring journeys and the lonely life of forest. All he did without complaining or cares for himself. As a younger brother he always served his elder brother Rama with a great sacrifice in all adverse condition. The life of Lakshman is an example of self-sacrifice, duties of man to his elders and superiors and teaches the value of selflessness. Credit: @Sruthi_Chitrala/DilMereSuntaNhi
Urmila is often termed as the forgotten heroine of Ramayana. Though even Valmiki mentions just few lines on her in the book, he doesn't forget to mention that her sacrifice was unparalleled. Sita was an adopted daughter of Raja Janak and Queen Sunanya . He had found a baby Sita' while ploughing the land for a yagna. Urmila on the other hand was the biological daughter of Raja Janak and Queen Sunanya. She was younger to Sita by few years. When Ram broke the bow he immediately became the person eligible to marry Sita. Next, Raja Dasharath came to Raja Janak's kingdom of Mithila to talk about the wedding dates and time. This was the time when Rajkumari Urmila was betrothed to Rajkumar Lakshmana. Both Sita and Urmila were married to Ram and Lakshman on the same day. One the very first night of the exile, Ram and Sita went to sleep in the forest while Lakshman kept a watch on them. Next, Goddess Nidra (the Goddess of sleep) approached Lakshman. He however begged her to excuse him for next 14 years so that he could carry out him dharm and duty unconditionally without any hurdle. The goddess was impressed by his devotion and agreed to leave him for the next 14 years.
However, as per the law of the nature somebody else had to bear the share of Lakshman's sleep. This is when Lakshman requests the Goddess NIdra to go to his wife Urmila as he knew she would readily agree as she too wanted to contribute with him to fulfill his duty. When Goddess Nidra explained the situation to Urmila she at once replied, "Give me my husband's share of sleep for the next 14 years so that he can constantly stay awake without any stress or fatigue. This is how Urmila slept night and day during the 14 year exile while Lakshmana could serve Ram and Sita attentively.Ravana's son Meghnath was very mighty and powerful. In fact, nobody could ever defeat him in any sort of war but only a man who had not slept for years. This is the reason how Lakshman could easily defeat the invincible Megnath. Without the help and contribution of Urmila, it was really impossible for Lakshman to defeat Meghnath.
After 14 years when Lakshman returned to Ayodhya along with his brother Ram and sister-in-law, Goddess Nidra approached him once again reminding him of his promise. This is when Lakshman had to go to sleep and Urmila woke up from her long slumber to see Ram being crowned as the King of Ayodhya.
Urmila's contribution in Ramayana is truly praise worthy and unparalleled as mentioned by Sage Valmiki in his book. Her devotion towards her husband and family is not just praise worthy but exemplary. This is the reason why she is often addressed as the Heroine' of Ramayana.

Important scenes of Lakshmila ... 😃😳⭐️
It's the scene where Lakshman and Urmila came face to face for the very first time, when she had come over to Sage Yajnavalkya's ashram to invite the brothers for lunch. They immediately clashed and the matter resolved only when Ram interfered... with Urmila winning round one hands down!
Their next meeting was quite accidental. When the two collided head on. One was going in search of her elder sister and the other one was carrying a pail of water for the horses in the stable. What ensued was another round insults hurled at each other.
This was the scene where the tables dramatically turned, when Lakshman saves Urmila from a giant snake Katig, who was sent to Mithila in order to exact revenge from Rajrishi janak's family for apparently humiliating the demon king of Lanka... Raavan. The snake attacked when Urmila along with her cousins arrived at the lake to fetch blue lotus. She requested Lakshman to be their chaperone.
The day would've surely ended on a horrible note had there not been Prince Lakshman at their disposal. The young prince not only saved the day and presented his potential lady love with the much coveted blue lotus but also for the first and only time showed off his "Sheshnaag avatar".
The scene is particularly memorable for this rare "darshan" of 'Sheshnaag roopi Ramanujan'.

Their marriage is proposed by King Dasharatha. All the four brothers of Ayodhya married the four princesses of Mithila. Finally their dream of being together forever is actualised. Even though the grand wedding ceremony focused majorly on Ram-Sita yet some very beautiful moments were reserved for LakshMila too.
Their love and respect for each other overflowed through every frame and shot..who can forget their intense locking of eye during this scene?
It is true that post wedding their scenes together reduced rather dramatically...but even then they shone through within limited screen provided.
and the memorable "The Promise" Scene.
The scene that paves the way for their tumultuous future...the life that started with so many beautiful promises unknown of the future perils that lies in wait for them...the thorny path that they both have to embark upon cast no shadows till then.
Until...
The Gods decided to test their endurance and ability to stay strong in the face of adversity. Urmila's world crashes down when Lakshman decides to follow his elder brother to the wilderness for 14 years to fulfill their father's promise to Queen Kaikeyi. She stays strong and supports her husband's decision even though she dies a thousand times in between.
In the version retold in Siya Ke Ram, Urmila embraces a fourteen year long sleep like state to facilitate in her husband's mission. It is believed that she willfully agrees to take away Lakshman's sleep for the entire duration of the exile so that he can perform his brotherly duties towards Sri Ram and Mata Sita.
As the saying goes time and tide wait for none and in this case too the fourteen year of separation comes to an end too. Lakshman returns to Ayodhya accompanying his brother Sri Ram and Bhabhi Sita after slaying the demon king Raavan. As the Queen mothers welcome them to the palace that has been waiting for their return eagerly, Lakshman's eyes only searched his beloved. It their time for reunion too. Hence he goes off in search of his wife who is still in divine induced sleep and waiting just for him to wake her up from the fugue like state.
Lakshman's eyes become moist as he finds his wife on their marital bed asleep oblivious to the outside world. His reverence knows no bound when he realizes the true worth of Urmila (born of passion)- his wife. It goes beyond saying that their reconciliation was bittersweet and it brings tears to the audience's eyes every time we watch the scene unfold before us. Urmila opens her eyes at the beckoning of her beloved's voice just as the sun rays peek through the sky overcast with clouds.
Agreed that this was a rough phase for most of us...as by this time we had too many issues with the show, their over the top screenplay and implausible plot twists. The lack of genuine screen space for our beloved couple also irked us to no ends. Yet there were still a couple of scenes that shone through this apparent bleak time.
The most remarkable scene post exile was by all means this scene. The scene that brought back a lot of old LakshMila feels for us. The crestfallen and almost teary eyed Lakshman was a treat to watch especially when the reason was his beloved wife's visit to her hometown Mithila!
Who knew the mighty warrior Lakshman who defeated the likes of Meghnad has turned into such an emotional mush all because of his beautiful and intelligent Urmila! Here he has once again been outwitted by his effervescent wife once again proving why she truly is his better half in every sense of the term!
The scene is definitely heartwarming as we get to witness the extent of Urmila's influence in Lakshman's life and how much she mattered to him. This was obviously a welcome change and unparalleled in the history of Mythological Shows.
With that we come to an end to this first post...Thanks for Visiting and Reading...Enjoy tonight's celebration...Let The Fun Begin...
