I can never understand the leap stories. Are we to assume that it was 90's earlier and now its 2016?

I am afraid of watching it now. flashbacks? it needs to be reviewed , coz I don't understand Urdu well. I hope many ppl here discuss the episodes, so I understand and enjoy watching the show.
