One Shot: Late Night Escapades
Sanchi took a big yawn as she sat with her friends on one of the outside chairpais of the dhabba she was having midnight tea.
"Kahan hai Aryan? Lagta hai punctual nahi hai." Rohit probed seeing Sanchi walk up to his bike and circle around it before seating herself next to him again.
"Haan yaar Sanchi, akhir hum bhi toh dekhein ke humari dost ki takar ki bike aur kon chala sakta hai!" another one of her friends quipped.
Before Sanchi could answer, four bikes stopped with screeches in front of the dhabba and leaving a foggy air filled with dust and sand.
"Oye Rohit! Mein jaa rahi hoon!"
She picked up the helmet and pushed it over head, tying the strap tightly around her head. She tightened her gloves's stick on and started the bike to earn whistles from her friends and good luck echo from behind the noise of fiery engine of Indian Springfield. She nodded at Aryan who pulled up his hand at five to indicate the end of the race line.
She pulled the bike in with Aryan and his friends who had all started up there bikes and with three races each, they all started off there bikes without sparing a glance at each other.
The racers felt the sticky breeze in between the humidity stick on the back of there necks. It took about a mile and half until the racers left on the road without the rest of Aryan's friends lagging behind or two or three cars in between, were Aryan and Sanchi. Sanchi looked at her speed which had been going under 180 so far and pushed the accelerator to go over 180. She spared a glance at Aryan who had followed her lead and pushed on behind her only to be following her bike by the end of it's tail.
The thrill of riding on the empty road with lights at far ends filled up inside both the racers until both crossed the finish line together despite Sanchi being the first one to reach back. Santa stopped the bike with a heavy jolt and pulled off her helmet to stare at Aryan who smiled at her with a smug.
"Aab tum se haar toh sakta nahi tha. Aakhir partners hain." he explained taking off his helmet to stare into Sanchi's terribly angry eyes that were framed by her raised eye-brows.
His smile faltered as she pulled up the seat to take out a water bottle and gulp down few sips before mounting the bike again and strapping her helmet.
"Sanchi? Sanchi tum gussa kyun ho?" he asked following her, as she started her bike again.
"Mujhe jeetna tha Aryan, obvious si baat hai!" she replied before heading back towards the dhabba.
It took about half an hour for both to stop back at the dhabba where the rest of three bikes were parked outside and Aryan's friends were seated opposites Sanchi's playing cards. Both of there bikes entered the premises at exact time with Sanchi heading the way.
"Jeeti Sanchi par lagta hai teri hone wale swami ne tujhe asani se jeetne nahi deiya. purri takar di!" Rohit called out looking at both of them take there helmets off and seat themselves on the charpai behind there friends.
"Haan jeeti toh Sanchi. Pata nahi kab se practice kar rahi hai ke har baar mujhe itne se se hara deti hai!" Aryan remarked to Rohit while Sanchi smiled at him.
"Chalo koi tou hai jo Aryan ko hara sakta hai." One of Aryan's friends piped after listening to him complain. "Wanna toh yeh had cheese mein meet data hai. Ab toh hum stab ne try karma bhi choir dye hai. Pata he hai ke yeh meet jaiga!"
The duo smiled at each other listening to the responses form here friends.
"Waise mein tum se koi gussa nahi hoon. Mujhe bohat maza aya!" Sanchi uttered after a while as silence settled in between them. hearing her words Aryan sighed with relief and pulled his gloves off, stuffing them into his jacket's pocket.
The two spent hours talking about the possible race tracks and how they got into street-racing until next few hours when time to sneak back into there houses had come in. The adrenaline pumping through them kept there spirits up. Just another one of the amazing nights passed like that and they spent the next day without realizing the secret smilies taking over there faces.
