Besides the more known version of Ramayan written by Valmiki, 2 more versions are worth knowing.
One is Adhyatma Ramayan, narrated by Lord Shiva to Parvati. Where emphasis is more on Divine qualities of Ram.
Other one is Adbhut Ramayan, in the form of dialogue between Valmiki & rishi Bharadwaj. It consists of 1353 shlokas. Emphasis is more on Sita's Divine power & qualities.
In his popular version of Ramayan, Valmiki gave more importance to Ram as Purush. Whereas in Adbut Ramayan, he praised Sita as Prakriti.
If Purush & Prakriti are needed for Creation, the they are very much required for preservation of the Creation too. Ram- Sita, as Purush- Prakriti, does the same here by destroying Asuras, adharma from Earth.
An important part of Adbhut Ramayan is about Sahastravadan Ravan. After killing Dashanana Ravan, Ram returns to Ayodhya. Rishis are praising him for his bravery. Seeing this Sita starts laughing. Rishis as surprised at her reaction. She thells Ram, during her childhood days, she had served a Brahmin, who was in Mithila during 4 months of Monsoon, known as Chaturmaas. He told her about Kaikasi's 2 sons, both were named Ravan. One had 1000 faces, other had 10 faces. You've killed 10 faced Ravan but 1000 faced Ravan, who lives in Pushkar Dweep, is much more powerful then his brother. Defeating Devas & others is like a child's play for him. If you can kill him, the Earth will be relieved of a major burden.
Ram decides to kill this Ravan. Along with his army he reaches Pushkar, in Pushpak plane.
Both Ram, Sahastravadan Ravan, fights to finish each other. During the battle Ram faints. Unable to bear this, Sita takes an fierce, angry form of Mahakali. She attacks the Asura army. From her body more fierce forms of other Matrukas emerges. They too assist in killing the Asuras. She kills Sahastra Ravan, then starts dancing with other Matrukas.
All Devas, rishis are surprised & scared fearing destruction of Earth. They pray to Mahadev, who appears & lies down like a Shav (dead body) in her path.
Here Brhma & other Devas trys to revive unconscious Ram, who get highly disturbed seeing condition of the battle field.
Brhma tells him, Sita in her fierce form is dancing after killingSahastravadan Ravan' Without her, you are unable to do anything. She is beyond Nirguna, Saguna, sat, asat. While explaining her form, Sita herself says,
" I am the Supreme Shakti, whom even Maheshwar depends on. I can not be destroyed. Seekers of Divine path, worships me. I am Shivaa, the soul residing in heart of all. Know everything, am active in everyone."
Hearing this immediately Ram praises her, describing her power with Sahastranaam.
