And we are Back...
Yes, you have heard it right.

COB aka Confessions of Bookaholic is back with its brand new sections, new names, new books and with the whole bunch of new people who lives mostly in their fantasy land with their erm... Alphas. Let me warn you guys, when any of these people tell you that they are in love, it means they are in love with their 'book boyfriend'. You might also see them laughing insanely sitting in the corner or presenting their red noses in front of you. DONT panic, they are probably laughing at how a kicka** heroine keeping the hero on his toes or how the 'their' alpha holds his new born baby respectively. It's a disease. They are infected by BOOKERIA. On the side note check whether they have their kindle or an paperback sneaking out from their backpack or inbetween their assignment books.

From the toddler stage we are now a full fledged team.
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce

Just One Day

by Gayle Forman.

Allyson Healey's life is exactly like her suitcase- packed, planned, ordered. Then on the last day of her three-week post-graduation European tour, she meets Willem. A free-spirited, roving actor, Willem is everything she's not, and when he invites her to abandon her plans and come to Paris with him, Allyson says yes. This uncharacteristic decision leads to a day of risk and romance, liberation and intimacy: 24 hours that will transform Allyson's life.

A book about love, heartbreak, travel, identity, and the "accidents" of fate, Just One Day shows us how sometimes in order to get found, you first have to get lost. . . and how often the people we are seeking are much closer than we know.

**

"What if Shakespeare had it wrong? To be, or not to be: that is the question. What if the real question is not whether to be, but how to be?"

Eighteen year old American Allyson Healey has her life all figured out or she thinks so. During her well earned European guided trip(which was a graduation present), she makes one small choice which had the potential to completely change the course of her life- her decision to ditch The Royal Shakespeare's Company's Hamlet for a public performance of Twelfth Night. The next day, on a train to London Allyson meets Willem, the striking actor from last night again. When Allyson mentions that she is disappointed as she could not visit Paris, Willem offers to take her around Paris for just one day. Even though taking risks is very not her, Allyson says yes.

"We are born in one day. We die in one day. We can change in one day. And we can fall in love in one day. Anything can happen in just one day."

What follows is one day and one night which is unforgettable. With Willem Allyson doesn't have to be the perfect girl who works hard at exams, instead she gets to experience the parts of her she never knew existed before- the carefree girl Willem nicknamed Lulu. Somewhere along the day Allyson realizes that she is stained, she has fallen for Willem. After an amazing night together, Allyson wakes up to discover that Willem has gone; he has left her alone in Paris. Heartbroken, dejected, scared Allyson puts aside the carefree girl, returns to America and resumes her responsible self. Sadly, it isn't that easy for her to return to the obedient girl she was and play by the rules. What follows is a miserable phase in Allyson's life, she isn't dismayed because she lost a guy but because she inwardly longs to be Lulu again, the girl she was with Willem.  After a year, Allyson embarks on a journey to find Willem and the girl she was with him.

"And that's when I understand that I have been stained. Whether I'm still in love with him, whether he was ever in love with me, and no matter who he's in love with now, Willem changed my life. He showed me how to get lost, and then I showed myself how to get found. Maybe accident isn't the right word after all. Maybe miracle is. Or maybe it's not a miracle. Maybe this is just life. When you open yourself up to it. When you put yourself in the path of it. When you say yes."

This book isn't about just one day, it is about what happens after that one day, it's about Allyson finding herself and that's the best thing about this book. The plot is something ordinary but Gayle Forman has crafted the story with finesse and serves us something extraordinary. Calling it just a Romance book would be insulting, because this book deals with who we are, how others perceive us, and who we want to be and what true love is. This book is realistic, it has depth, it is humorous, it has a brief yet intense romance, and somehow it makes us believe in magic, not that sort you see in fairy-tales, but the kind of magic that can happen to anyone of us - this is the sort of book that shouldn't be missed.

If your book-hungry mind hasn't satisfied yet and you are looking for a make-over, then here we are, ready with a new menu card! Keeping all kind of bookaholics' tastes in mind, we have listed different genres.

: Young Adult :

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor is a misfit with a dysfunctional family. Park doesn't quite fit in but has a warm, loving home life. One day the odd girl sits next to the comic book fan on the bus and slowly and sweetly they fall in love. The heart-warming story of two star-crossed teenagers, trying desperately to experience the sensuality of first love, though knowing it almost never lasts..

 : Romance :

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

Nicholas Sparks' first published novel starts with an old man, reading story to an old woman who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The story is about a guy named Noah Calhoun and his love Allie, who meet and fall in love passionately during a summer vacation. Their difference in class forces them to draw apart but they reconciles again when Allie discovers Noah's photo with theironce dream-house just before her wedding and comes back to the coastal town. Noah doesn't want to lose his love for the second time, after living 14 years with nothing but her memories. With her impending marriage only weeks away, Allie is forced to confront her hopes and dreams for the future, a future that only she can shape.

: Historical :

The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton

Set in the 1860s on the goldfields of New Zealand, The Luminaries is a fantastic read.

It's a literary detective story with hidden treasure and a hint of the supernatural. If historical fiction is not your favourite genre, I think this will surprise. The world Eleanor Catton creates is so remarkably convincing and meticulously researched, and the story so compelling that you will be hooked. A deserving Booker Prize winner and a perfect summer holiday read.

: Classic :

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Set in England in the early 19th century, Pride and Prejudice tells the story of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's five unmarried daughters after the rich and eligible Mr. Bingley and his status-conscious friend, the even richer and eligible Mr. Darcy, have moved into their neighbourhood. While Bingley takes an immediate liking to the eldest Bennet daughter, Jane, Darcy is disdainful of local society and repeatedly clashes with the Bennets' lively second daughter, Elizabeth.

Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners retains a fascination for modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of "most loved books" of all time.

: Fantasy :

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

In a time when Shadow-hunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times best-selling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London's dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadow-hunters"including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organisation of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them..

Thriller :

The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

J.K. Rowling's foray into crime writing is a complete success. Ex-military Cormoran Strike PI is a character as large on the page as he is in height. Strike is down to one client, and creditors are calling. He has also just broken up with his long-time girlfriend and is living in his office. Now, he is offered a new case along with a tough new secretary, and gets a fame-studded boost out of his emotional mores. You may think you know detectives, but you've never met one quite like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and famous, but you have never seen them under an investigation like this.

 :Comedy:

Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding

Bridget Jones, a thirty-something single working woman living in London, not only obsesses about her love life, but also details her various daily struggles with her weight, her over-indulgence in alcohol and cigarettes, and her career. The diary starts on January 1 with an intimidating number of resolutions and ends on the following New Year's Eve. This book reads so much like a real personal journal that, at times, it is almost like an invasion of privacy. All of Bridget's insecurities and strengths, mistakes and good choices, joys and sorrows are written in the same abbreviated style.

Since we are all just a bunch of book-hungry folks, it might be worthwhile to get to know our fellow bookaholics while we are gathered here.

In this edition of the newsletter,

Starkheart.

made the headlines!

She is one of the most active members of this forum and a book addict. She is also a fan of Paulo Coelho's works!

**

To start off, tell us about your favourite book and your favourite author.

As of now, my favourite author is Agatha Christie. I've read more than a dozen books written by her recently and she delivers, every single time. My favourite book is Where She Went by Gayle Forman because it's the first book that made me cry and laugh.

Have you ever read a book that made you see things in a different light, or perhaps changed the way you generally think about things? Tell us about it if you have.

The Zahir by Paulo Coelho was sort of life changing for me. I happened to be reading that book when I was making a very hard choice. I almost felt like all the things that were happening in my life and this book, they were telling me to go for what I wanted and not what the system or the society wanted me to want. And since then, I've been living and not existing.

If you could, so to speak, walk a mile in the shoes of a fictional character, who would it be and why?

I'd really like to experience life through Pollyanna's eyes because no matter what life throws at her she's always happy and always grateful. Her father died, he almost lost the ability to walk, and yet she found things to be grateful for and turned all the negative circumstances around.

Do you, in general, enjoy movies based on books? Is there a particular book that has not been made into a movie, but you think absolutely deserves that honour?

It depends on the movie. I've enjoyed Harry PotterThe Lord of the Rings and a few thrillers based on books. I'd rather not have my favourite book made into a movie because most movies end up sabotaging the essence of the book. Of course, there are exceptions like Harry Potter, but movies just don't work for me. I trust my imagination more than I trust Hollywood.

Share a favourite quote from ANY book you have ever read.

This is one of my favourite quotes from The Zahir:

"But what if I could choose an epitaph? I would ask to have these words engraved:

He died while he was still alive.'

That might sound like a contradiction in terms, but I knew many people who had ceased to live, even though they continued to work and eat and engage in their usual social activities. They did everything automatically, oblivious to the magic moment that each day brings with it, never stopping to think about the miracle of life, never understanding that the next minute could be their last on the face of this planet."

Tell us about a book that you wouldn't recommend to an enemy? That is, a book you absolutely hated.

Half Girlfriend or any other Chetan Bhagat book. I would not want my worst enemy to go through that.

What is the first book you remember reading as a child?

Fairy tales! (Laughs)
I was a kid who preferred reading over having someone to read to me and Beauty and the Beast was my all-time favourite as a kid. Other than that, I loved this book called Soonie and the Dragon.

Do you judge a book by its cover? Do the reviews, short summary, or the cover design influence your decision when you buy books?

I don't judge a book by its cover. The blurb and the title do have a say, but I don't trust reviews. I might love a book someone else hates and vice versa.

Do you have a favourite book that is written in any language other than English? Or perhaps it is an English translation that you really enjoyed? Tell us about it.

Paulo Coelho's books - The Zahir, The Alchemist and By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept. He writes in Portuguese and I've read the English translations of his books. Though I might not agree with everything he writes, I find his books thought provoking.

Is there a website that you frequent when it comes to books? (whether it is to buy books, or to read reviews or to interact with other book lovers)

Goodreads, because it's a one pit stop for blurbs & reviews and Google. Because I don't buy books, every time I want to read a book, a free copy magically makes itself known through Google. (Laughs)

We finish with a rapid fire:

Paper books or digital books?
Digital books

Paperback or Hardcover?
Paperback

Local bookshops or online stores?
Local bookshops

Bookmarks or no bookmarks?
No bookmarks

One book at a time or too many at the same time?
Depends on the book(s)
