Pratyusha Banerjee suicide: Social organization files complaint against Dolly Bindra

TNN | Apr 5, 2016,

Popular TV actress, Pratyusha Banerjee's death, certain celebrities who claim to be Pratyusha Banerjee's close friends, have made a mockery of her suicide with their acts. Dolly Bindra, who was recently criticized for leaking recording of her phone conversation with Pratyusha's mother and pictures of actress' dead body might be in a trouble soon.

According to reports in the media, a social organization called Sangarsh has sent an application to the Versova police station to file a complaint against Dolly Bindra and the medical staff of Kokilben Hospital for mistreatment of Pratyusha's body. While talking to an entertainment portal, Prithviraj Maske, the president of the organization, shared that it was disturbing to see Dolly Bindra's image with Pratyusha's dead body. He also condemned the fact that Dolly leaked a phone call recording between her and Pratyusha's mother.

He further questioned as to how Dolly Bindra was allowed to take pictures with Pratyusha's body. He stated in the report that it was hospital's negligence. It might hamper forensic investigation.

Pratyusha Banerjee's Death Reveals The Sad State Of Our Media

Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee is no more. She is no more there to put a stamp on the millions of things that are being said about her, her life, her family, her parents and also her financial condition. And when there's no one to testify or confirm, it becomes easy to form an opinion. Social media is all about opinions. 50 people come together, trend a certain subject based on their opinion and the opinion becomes a news. It was disheartening to see some of the websites hand picking few of the trolling tweets on the deceased actress and making a YouTube video out of it. What are we doing in the name of making news? I understand it is necessary to publish updates regarding a trending topic on internet, that's how this business runs but deliberate insults need not be handpicked in the name of news!

I also got quite a shock when I came across another article that brashly questioned the talents that have landed in Mumbai from the state of Jharkhand and termed them all as failures. The article mentions the name of quite a few successful and popular actresses apart from Pratyusha Banerjee (who hails from Jharkhand). It is quite shocking how people go on to write big and illustrious articles without really researching. It's sad that most of these websites do NOT cover television celebs or shows for half the year (except for the time when any keyword trends on Twitter, FB or Google). But whenever some breaking (read - bad or scandalous) news comes up and that shakes the nation, they are left with no option but to cover it. And in the process, they end up covering the stories without any research or knowing anything about the background of the celebrities. And hence they use phrases like was under depression', was a failure', couldn't handle fame', small town actors failed in big cities' and of course according to credible sources' are also there.

Also some of the celebrities are there who just want to enjoy this temporary limelight on them. Just like some filmmaker suddenly tweeted about how he would have produced an entire film for Pratyusha had he known about her financial crisis. Wish these sudden cropped up friends of Pratyusha Banerjee showed little maturity while giving statements instead of spreading rumours that has befogged the matter and made it worse.

In the name of publishing news we don't cringe before releasing an audio that has a mother crying and weeping terribly for her only child. No body even winced. Neither the one who provided the audio nor the ones who published or aired it. There was absolutely no necessity of making the nation hear how Pratyusha Banerjee's mother cried for her daughter on the night of her death but it was there just to sensationalize the dead girl's demise.

The very dramatic' Rakhi Sawant also didn't forget to add her share of drama here. She made a mockery of her death by bringing a ceiling fan at a press conference and demanded from the Government to replace all ceiling fans by air conditioners to avoid any suicide further. It's sad and extremely sad how some of the celebrities are leaving no stone unturned to cash in on the limelight after the death of actress.

And this sensationalisation doesn't stop here. With time more and more rash and recoiling headlines are cropping up which shows how lamely stories are written, published or aired these days without even going through any primary research or homework. A big headline has been made about Pratyusha Banerjee's loan of Rs 50 Lakhs and that she was unable to repay it. But no one bothered to talk that she just probably needed to work for 50 days to return that amount with interest to the bank. For an actor of her stature on television currently, the amount isn't too much. May be the reporter who decided to make it a breaking news didn't have an idea about the payments an established television actor receives these days. Or they are only of the opinion that only Priyanka Chopras and Deepika Padukones can get a 50 lakhs loan from bank. Even the father of the prime suspect, at one moment said to a channel sitting at his Ranchi house that Pratyusha paid an amount of Rs 80 lakhs as income tax and the next day in Mumbai he says, he transferred 5,000 to 10,000 rupees to her account as she lacked money. No one questioned or even highlighted why such different statements came from him in a gap of one day? A girl who paid Rs 80 lakhs tax returns committed suicide for non-repayment of a loan of Rs 50 lakhs? It makes no sense or logic. Too much information and no one to clarify anything here. And this information overflow is creating a whole gap of information in the already confusing case.

In 2014, I got the opportunity to attend the Kolkata Film Festival where Amitabh Bachchan stated a very significant line in his speech. He said, "We live in a world overflowing with information. But we seem to face growing scarcity of wisdom. And worse is that we confuse the two. This barrage of readily available information has also created an environment where one of the worst social sins is to appear uninformed. Ours is a culture where it is enormously embarrassing to not have an opinion on something and in order to seem informed, we form our so called opinions hastily".

Social media or Twitter is a mirror image of this entire quote said by Amitabh Bachchan two years ago. No one knows anything but still opinionated tweets are made. Rash and reckless comments on Twitter shows the inhumane side of the humans out there. And it becomes more pathetic when some portals handpick such insults thrown at a deceased person and publish them in the name of news.

Pratyusha Banerjee was one of the most prominent names on Indian television. She was the Balika Vadhu' of Indian television whose smile reflected her on screen character's name Anandi'. She achieved success and proved herself as a credible artist in a span of only 5 years. She deserves respect. S
he deserves to be remembered with reverence. She deserves to go in a dignified way. Let us be considerate of what we are writing, the language we are using while writing and let the 24 year old rest in peace!

People make mistakes and then when reality strikes try to rectify them. Not every body are fortunate to have a God father or influential person every where. Here Pratyusha surely made wrong choice of friends but among them some were really genuine. She was trying to rectify her mistake and settle in life. Her only fault was she believed Rahul to be a genuine person and believed him, but when she found that she was being cheated and used by him she wanted to get out of the relationship, in this process she lost her life. But one thing is sure that she is a strong person, she really searched for help but that guy stopped and created a scenario and compelled her to suicide.

See her last pictures she has bruises on nose and cheeks. Any sane person will have doubts.

Pratyusha Banerjee's Balika Vadhu co-star Shashank Vyas criticizes the publicity-seekers!

Pratyusha Banerjee's Balika Vadhu co-star Shashank Vyas request people to talk sensibly and not to seek publicity out of this unfortunate incident

The young actor's words will make people think and introspect!

It has been three days since the unfortunate news of Balika Vadhu actress Pratyusha Banerjee committing suicide shook everyone. One of the few people who knew her right from the start of her career in tinsel-town is actor Shashank Vyas. They started their careers together in Balika Vadhu, where he became famous as Jagdish Singh/ Jagya. Baffled, hurt and saddened by the media circus and to some extent, the celebrity tamasha around her death, Shashank said "I have hardly slept for 3-4 hours in the last three days. This incident has shaken me so deeply. I have not had time to watch a lot of TV but I have been seeing media segments where reporters have compared Pratyusha's case with that of Jiah Khan, Nafisa Ali, Silk Smitha and Parveen Babi. Suicides happen outside the glamour industry as well. Why there is no extensive reporting? Just because actors are public figures and their lives ignite curiosity, segments are churned out just to grab eyeballs.. I am also against the small-town' stereotype that is being highlighted across the media. People are demeaning the industry and people from India's smaller cities who have big aspirations. When a small-town boy or girl achieves something people say, small town big dreams, and blah blah. I am surprised to hear people are calling showbiz as Andhakar Ki Duniya' and Bitter Reality' and so on. How one handles success or failure depends on the individual It is molded by one's family, parenting, schooling, etc. And when one stereotypes, does it mean that young people from smaller cities should stop pursuing their dreams?. Acting is a craft. It is a great responsibility. Of course, there is pressure. But everyone is aware of it. You need a lot of commitment, passion and dedication to survive and flourish here. I am a part of this industry and I am very happy here."

The actor further criticizes the celebrities for their irresponsible behavior on the first day. "I know her from six years. We worked together for two years and so . I know her as Pratyusha. Honestly, there were only five to six people who knew her well. There were some who gathered at the hospital as they are "camera - lovers". Once they finished their bytes and got the footage, they left. Their purpose was solved . Only a few waited for the dead body. Also, people clicking pictures through hidden cameras, sharing audio clicks of conversations with near and dear ones, saying on video that she was murdered...seriously...there is something called moral accountability. It is my humble request, please think before you speak. I was at the gym when I got the news. Within minutes I got messages from various journalists requesting me to say, "Doh Shabdh" ( two words ). Some were apologetic and even wrote that they were embarrassed asking that question. If you feel ashamed then why even cross-question people at that point? How am I supposed to tell how I feel after knowing that my friend has ended her life? There is a time for everything. I was appalled to see some celebrities talking about legal angles. How much do you understand law? The police will definitely investigate and it is not going to inform you of all the details and its procedures. As far as this again and again spread by media Pratyusha was facing financial problems. As far as I know, she was never out of work. I would request people please do not character assassinate someone who is no more. This is the most distressing incident that I have experienced in TV world. I am sad to see there is no unity or sense of ground reality amongst certain people. For those who want to just give bytes and vanish from the scene...it's my humble request...please don't make it a publicity stunt, Don't insult someone's death" says the young actor.

i hope she should have continued with her BV co actors who are sorted out . and yes if she knew she already tried to commit suicide. she should have been taken to doctor counselling and never creating a situation which pains or discomforts her. one can see BV co actors have replied with more wisdom and grace than compared to other actors. i will say i didn't like her friend circle. a last call to her close one could have helped. my heart is pained that she is no more. she should have been helped when alive. our wisdom words are of no use now.

i agree with whatever shashank is saying but i want to pin point that show biz, politics and sports are insecure professions which demand extreme hardwork, vigilance , perseverance, dealing with public, media and people in the own profession. these fields are public field, watched by the masses and are different from 9 to 5 job. also the remuneration is according to work and unlike salary per month.

It is still a shock that Pratyusha is no more, I remember reading in the news that things were rocky for her but I could never imagine it would lead to such a drastic step.

I am glad Pratyusha's friends are fighting for her especially after seeing how low the media can sink with those polls, articles and leaks Dolly put out there. It was so disrespectful towards her family and to her. I can only hope Pratyusha gets the justice she deserves and her soul can R.I.P.

👏
I'm glad Shashank said it all! Seriously those people who kept on harping on police investigation and called this whole incident as a murder or well-planned conspiracy should be arrested for speaking against a police case without legal basis or evidence! To me, all those looked like uneducated literates! Forget law, they haven't read psychology either! When the subject itself considers human brain a complexity, who are they to say things with such confidence!
