Farmhouse
Beautiful royal blue carpets laced with confetti were laid on the pathways; the sweet scent of lavender greeted the guests as they walk past the main entrance. The house was covered in baby pink roses and white lilacs. Lavender and silver drapes were everywhere with balloons floating around. The farmhouse was a work of art and every person entering the venue was left spellbound for a minute or two. Yesterday, this place conveyed the glitz and glamour and today, it carried a strange sense of serenity, peace and happiness. The first ceremony was already under way; two girls were heavily concentrating in adorning an older woman's hands.

Arjun watches everything from the cameras located in the office. Nitika Suryakant Rawte looks radiant as the day he last seen her, a bit older. She observes her mehendi with keen eyes and sincerely appreciating the girls, he had never seen a woman quite like her; emitting warmth and kindness to everyone around. Her smile however did not reach her eyes, he found she was looking for someone. Riya. Where was she anyway? She couldn't locate her on the camera and then he realized that there wasn't any camera installed on the left wing, her side of house but her he could not comprehend. Doesn't she know there could be danger lurking around and she attracted danger like a magnet. His eyes snapped back to see his mother, he could now see Mr Suryakant Rawte entering the scene. His father, Arjun couldn't help feel proud to be his son, a self-made man, loving, considerate and down to earth. Did they say Riya was a workaholic? He then remembered something she had said "work never betrays" but that's no reason to become a machine and then he smiled at himself, wasn't he a workaholic as well. My first birthday, mom will never let dad forget that. It's one tale that he heard about a million times but he felt happy that they remembered him. Raj uncle? He had forgotten about that man, funny considering he was his second father. What happened between these people, they were the best of friends! This conversation is getting weirder and weirder. Riya's marriage, they are thinking about her remarriage. What nonsense! Have they gone mad? She will never agree to it, at least, he hoped she didn't. He didn't know why but the thought of her with someone else gave him pain. Aryan, who is he now; I can't believe they already searched for a guy. She joins them, she's wearing a tight black skirt which nearly reaches her knees paired up with royal blue lace top and matching royal blue pumps. Her hair is tied back into a bun, there's an aura of power, determination & strength around her. You don't mess with this girl, she ruthless. Now he understood what his parents meant, she isn't the girl he knew. Is this what he did? She knows Aryan, she has a genuine smile on her face when she talked about him, and does she know his parents were planning. What if she did? What if she likes him? What if she wants to get married to him? What if they have, if she, she's been lonely for so long and she's acted upon...No, it can't happen! What the hell am I thinking? It's her life, she can do what she wants to, who am I to judge, look what I did to her. If she has moved on then the blame is on me. When she said she has seen the results, he felt like she stabbed him with a knife but he was hopeful maybe she'll say no to the marriage. He did not understand why he was feeling that way about her, maybe after all these years he felt guilty of what he had done and now that he has seen the way she behaves his guilt intensified. He could not deny one thing, Riya always made me feel something, something he couldn't quite figure but he had a way to break down all his defenses and release every emotion there has been. 3 hours later
The haldi ceremony was starting. The hall was divided into 2 parts by a thin white curtain. Suryakant was wearing his yellow dhoti and white vest. For a man in his 50s he was very fit for his age. He was by no means an old man. After years of wearing a 3 piece suit, this was a refreshing change. He glanced towards the curtain hoping to catch a glance of his wife but the curtain did not allow it. Damn Riya! He smiled fondly when he thought about her, when he first laid eyes on her he called her an angel. He was the daughter he never had and after Arjun left she was his son. He never had time to consider her a daughter-in-law and she proved it to him that the bonds of the heart run way deeper than that blood. He never had his own family, Nitika's family was his and today their absence hurt him. He knew for a fact that they'll be showering their blessing upon them and he wished they grant him blessing so his family is happy again. He realized then how depressed his wife would be right now, her parents were dead, she hadn't laid eyes on her son for years and she was worried about her daughter.
POV change
Nitika was wearing a light yellow sari and jewelry made of flowers. Riya had insisted on it. She didn't participate in the mehendi but made sure everything was perfectly done. She did the same with the haldi ceremony, if anything Riya was perfect at whatever she did. Today, Riya was the perfect hostess as well; it had been a long time since she had seen her carrying out conversations politely. She was in a great mood after a long time. She knew what her husband might be thinking, he was right. She felt said but all of that melted away when she saw Riya. Today, she felt hopeful again, hopeful that things will get better.
The ceremony was started and everyone was required to put haldi on the bride and groom. The ETF had been very nervous about their cover being blown off but in the end they also applied haldi. Riya was the only one left apart from Arjun, who was till now in the office.
Riya: Shree, jao aur Arjun k bula k leke ao
Arjun: (comes and stands beside Riya) Zarurat nahi, im here
Riya: Your turn
Arjun: They'll recognize me
Riya: (indicates to her staff and they throw colors in the air) There you go, no one will know. Ab jao, khade kyu ho
Arjun: Saath chalo, unhe time nahi milega mujhpeh focus karne k liye
Arjun and Riya move together towards Nitika. They both pick some haldi and apply it on Nitika's cheeks.
Nitika: Yaad hai Riya, maine bhi ek baar tumhe aur Arjun ko yeh haldi lagaya tha. Aaj agar tum dono sath meh...I'm sorry par pata nahi kyu
Riya: (looks at Arjun) Main kuch nahi bhooli Mom but haan acha hota agar aaj woh bhi aapko haldi lagata.
