Star India strives to create content that will appeal not only to people on the Indian turf but reach out to a global audience. As just another step towards that, Star India is set to participate at DISCOP Istanbul and present its line of the biggest global hits. The shows from the Star India are making viewers from Vietnam, Russia, Uganda to Romania and Turkey, feel various emotions. Shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', Diya Aur Baati Hum', Ek Hasina Thi' Saraswatichandra' and Yeh Hai Mohobbatein', are among many of its other global hits and some of them been aired in more than 20 to 30 countries across the globe.
"When we were starting, six years ago, it was about introducing the idea that Indian dramas could reach out and work with the international audiences," says Christina Vlahova, CEO of Intellcta Srl, a longtime partner of Star India in territories of Europe, Russia and the CIS countries. She further adds, "The concept was new and India seemed so far away. Now with the success that Star TV series have had internationally, we have only managed to reach out for the hearts of the viewers in a special way. We know exactly, which series works best, or which one is suited for the international market."
Commenting on this global success of Star India shows, Star India spokesperson, says, "Star India's entertainment content has gripped people from all over the globe and its acceptance across geographies is a testament to our commitment of inspiring people. We're delighted that our stories continue to transcend borders and enthrall the audience."
Most of these shows are either dubbed or subtitled in local languages. This success stories are backed by strong numbers. Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai' has managed to achieve up to 50 per cent share in Bulgaria and 75 per cent share in its slot in Albania. In African continent, many of Star India's shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', Sada Haq', Saraswatichandra' and Yeh Hai Mohobbatein' are huge hits. Sada Haq' is one of the most popular shows among the target audience of 18-25 years in South Africa. Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon' and Bidaai' have been hugely popular in Russia, where is the former is enjoying impressive ratings among the female audience in the age group of 22-25. Two years ago, the Georgian viewers had not heard of any Indian dramas and very little about Bollywood, but now it has turned out to be one of the very established markets for Star India with five different series. Many of these shows also have fan clubs and a huge following on social media from various parts of the world.
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam doon' has quadrupled ratings in the slot that it is being broadcast in Turkey. In fact the show is doing as great as the Turkish dramas and Barun Sobti who played the lead character of Arnav in the show, will be visiting Turkey to celebrate its success. Reacting to such a global success of his show, Barun shares, "It's quite amazing that the show has been aired in more than 40 countries and done well everywhere. It's a great testament to the power of storytelling, something that Star India strives for. What's more amazing is to discover that human emotions are the same everywhere, irrespective of the language."
With this kind of global recognition already, Star India is hoping for many more international success stories!
