Parul Chauhan, born o March 19, 1988, hails from the small town of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. She came to Mumbai in 2005 with her brother hoping to make it big. The industry was brutal and work was difficult to come by, especially for a dusky girl in a fairness obsessed industry. She struggled for work and did blink-and-you'll-miss-it roles in Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki, Kumkum, Banoo Main Teri Dulhan, Kahin To Hoga etc. At one point she had no money for even food for 15 days. Parul then landed a short negative role in Balaji's Kayamat. After two years of struggle, luck finally shined on her and Rajan Shahi signed her for the role of Ragini in Bidaai after just seeing her pictures. He felt like her pictures spoke to him and a girl that spoke to him through stills, could do wonders in front of the camera. As they say, there was no looking back. Parul went on to win several awards for her portrayal of Ragini. Since then she has worked in several serials, reality shows, ads, etc.
