Too many ideals clashing?
The new offering on Star Plus "Siya Ke Ram' is showcasing Ramayana with greater grandeur from Siya Maa's point of view. The satyug based mythology is delighting many but is equally pissing off another bunch of mythology loyalists. Indeed, what could have gone wrong you may ask. Well, we've quite a list.
1. The bitterness in behaviour of Maa Kaushalya and her being at daggers drawn with King Dashratha is far from truth. None of the most accepted versions of Ramayana till date have ever mentioned even the slightest misbehaviour let alone a complete cut-off in their relationship. It is being potrayed more or less as a saas-bahu saga.
2. Greedy, dictating brahmins. Spare us the horror! The CVs are being blunt in depicting a very different Vedic Period... something that has never been reported by any of the old scriptures. Are they perhaps confused with the present state of affairs, maybe wanting to go the Oh My God! or PK way?
3. The potrayal of King Dashratha as a son-seeking biased father is certainly by far the worst move by the showmakers to merely dramatise the storyline and they're perhaps mixing up the morals of Kalyug and Satyug. Shanta ji's real story isn't even close to the one being potrayed and is a game at misleading viewers. To many it seems like Siya Ke Ram is going Ekta Kapoor's Kahani Humari Mahabharat ki way.
4. Showing Ma Kaikeyi as an insecure queen. This might be the least convincable depiction be the CVs. Kaikeyi ma's story is far to superior to be let down by the poor depiction. Its been little known but in reality out of all the 3 mothers, only Kaikeyi Ma had the courage to take up the bashing that follows her name for she loved Lord Vishnu the most, perhaps even more than Ma Kaushalya.
