I have seen people raising certain valid question about Lord Rama's action towards sita but it does not mean that Ravana is better than Ram.
I come across this article and got ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
http://www.tribuneindia.com/2007/20071021/spectrum/society1.htm

If its true, I feel then we are still half-knowledged about Ramayan.๐Ÿ˜•

I read ur intro in the intro thread
Since u said u have read Kamba Ramayan
U must be from Tamilnadu right
Me too from Tamilnadu
And u know that Kambar's Version is different
Based on which people worship Ravan in some parts of the state
Lot differs from north to south
People will believe what they are aware of or brought up with
Where, for us Murugan is a main God
In north he is rarely worshiped
And we have different Mytho stories
Which is not shared by the people in north
So this is due to cultural differences
Not that people like evil

Hi, Yes, I am from TN. Happy to know u.
Kambar Ramayan is quite contradictory to valmiki's one in many parts. I understand the cultural differences.
But in the article, the temple is actually in MP, that what is more curious for me.
I agree that the antagonist should be portrayed stronger but worshipping is somewhat unbelievable.

Hi I am Mano
I am from Pondicherry
Great to meet u

I am not defending Ravan's action in anyway
But if we research the reason behind the worship
We might find some other hidden reason
Or it may be that it was stared by few at some point of time
And it followed blindly by others

But I have high regards for Kambar
Though MB was also written in Tamil
writer of MB is not praised or credited like Kambar
It's bcos they way Kambar wrote it
It's not just a translation

There are more unbelievable stories
There are facts that are unknown to us
The fact that Diwali here is celebrated for Ram
While we Celebrate it was Krishna itself shows the difference

Same way people worshiping Ravan in diff parts of the country
might be following some other story
I can't worship Ravan for sure.
But unless I know the reason
I can't blame people worshiping him too
It's not like Ram worshipers never do a crime
Or Ravan worshipers commit only Crimes๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†
There are people out there who don't believe in God
But still living a meaningful life

How we actually are living our life matters the most๐Ÿ˜‰
Sorry if it looks like some preaching๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

@bold: yes, this is what I want to know. As I stated most of us (not stating u, as idk) are having only half-knowledge in Ramayan. (certainly me, after reading uttara kanda)

@red: agreed. I like Kambar Ramayan (only with tamil konar guide, even after being tamilian ๐Ÿ˜†) but I have different option on some parts .

@blue: true. I won't say that those who worship Ravana are all bad but certainly I want to know the fact behind their hatred towards Ram and their worshippers.

@pink: When we discuss about epics, preaching is inevitable ๐Ÿ˜‰

You both are from Tamil Nadu and I'm your neighbour. I'm a Sri Lankan. And, as we are all aware that Ravan was from Sri Lanka. There are people who worship him. But, it doesn't mean that there are less worshipers of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. Infact there's a Mandir on Goddess Sita's name. It's called " Sita Eliya ". And , it is said that this Mandir is erected exactly where she was held captive by Ravan.

Yes though rare Sita worship does happen

It's mostly Sita with Ram

And this was a new info for me

Hi, Good to know about Sita's mandir. Looking forward to interact with u to know abt Ravana from ur (mean Sri Lankan's) view.

My long time question: Here Sri means Lakshmi, so does it mean lakshmi island? (just to know)
