Rana Udai Singh was unwell and shifted to Gogunda fort in 1571 for rest. Along with dheerbai. Udaipur was then under Jagmal because Rana Udai Singh and Kunwar Pratap Singh had a tiff and clash of ideas and Pratap had left for Kelwara with his family. Jagmal ruled under Udai Singh's name for two three months before Udai Singh died in February 1572. The rules were that the kings throne remained empty for 21 days before the coronation of the next king. On his dead bed he apparently told Dheerbai that Jagmal was next to be king. On the 20th day after his death Jagmal started the coronation yajna at Gogunda itself. Here Rawat Chundawat n Ramrakh Punwar ( yes both were not dead until haldighati) suggested Pratap to go and claim what was his. Pratap wanted to stay away as it was his fathers last wish. Jaivanta Bai and Ajabde reminded him of his duties and how the people wanted him. They reached Gogunda and the people there forcefully made Jagmal leave the coronation. Maharana Pratap Singh was coronated in Gogunda in Feb 1572. After this Jagmal went to Akbar to become the Mansaab of Ajmer till his death in 1578. Dheerbai came back to Pratap who refused to take Akbar's spiies in and she left for tirth. After coronation in Gogunda he shifted his capital to Kunbalgarh with immediate effects. He recalled Shakti who was adopted by Rawatji as Shakta Singh Chundawat and make him Rawat. Till his death neither did Pratap approve of Udaipur as capital nor did he live or construct anything there. His last capital was Chavand after haldighati war. Both he and Ajabde died there. Amar Singh shifted the capital back to Udaipur after a peace treaty with Jehangir and a failed attempt to reglorify Chittorgarh
