The only thing that ranveer is enamoured in life is ishaani only.I remember the episode where he said that the only reason for him becoming a big shot in life was ishaani only.He wanted to be rich not for himself but for his love ishaani.The most important thing that you've referred to is the fact that even though he loved her he never expected to be loved back by her .The moment she started to reciprocate his feelings made him all the more vulnerable about his love.There is a saying that love is best when it comes without expectations and till the time ranveer never expected anything from her he remained stoic with regards to his feelings for her.It's only when he started to realize that his dreams could materialize did he started expecting love from her and hence became agitated in his love for her.
