Can Dhanush bail out Selvaraghavan?
Dhanush
At a time when Tamil actor Dhanush is conquering language barriers, his brother Selvaraghavan, who helped him shape his career, is struggling to find a toehold in Kollywood. Selvaraghavan's last film Irandam Ulagam came in 2013, and it was a disaster at the box office. In fact, the director , who once ruled the roost, hasn't yet recovered from that film's loss. Insiders say Selvaraghavan is not in a position to take up the direction of any new project till he settles financial matters with the producer of Irandam Ulagam.

Reliable sources tell us Selvaraghavan is having a tough time after the producer of Irandam Ulagam, PVP Cinemas, claimed damages from the star film-maker. Apparently, Selvaraghavan is being held responsible for the box office failure of the film and PVP Cinemas wants the director to make up for the losses incurred. But Selvaraghavan, sources say, can't afford to repay the losses as the movie was made on a whopping budget of over Rs 60 crore.
For the last two years, negotiations are on between Selvaraghavan and PVP, but they did not reach any conclusive deal. "PVP insisted that Selvaraghavan direct a movie for free with Dhanush as the protagonist to make up for the loss. But that looks unlikely for the time being because of various reasons," a little birdie from Chennai told us.
Selvaraghavan reportedly has a script ready for Dhanush, but it is not clear whether the Tamil superstar will bail out his brother, who is in distress now.
In fact, it was Selvaraghavan, who launched Dhanush through Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002). It was his Kaadhal Kondein which announced the arrival of the actor on the big screen with a bang. Many of their projects have been box-office successes. Pudhupettai (2006) and Mayakkam Enna (2011) were all commercially successful.
"A Dhanush-Selvaraghavan movie will any day create sensation in Kollywood. But it looks like the time is not yet ripe for such a project. Nevertheless, Dhanush is in an advantageous situation to help his elder brother. It is to be seen whether they will work together for a PVP project," a leading Tamil film distributor said.

Dhanush is performing well and is conquering many fields..it wud be suicidal to take on his bro's movie out of charity...better help his bro financially than face a debacle

As sad as it sounds, but an actor should not take up a movie for the sake of repayment. But it's not wrong to save someone's life by doing their movies, if it can help someone then it might be worth it.

A flop will have an effect on the careergraph of the actor regardless of salary or no salary..why take that risk when things are going steady fr Dhanush?
