for some reason, this shot is getting me dhakdhakked. man drenched and temper coming in.

i hope you are permanently stuck here... why must i suffer all by myself. i need to fly off.

hey devi maiyya I am,, I am.. most definitely stuck here.. unlookawayfromable..

I know what you meet about Khushi and Sanaya. I think I mentioned this earlier, that I was certain this too talkative bhali chulbuli girl will be unbrearably cute, righteous and sermonizing..

Instead we got a girl who opened her hair once her dori was snapped, made jalebis after her sister's marriage broke and ran after the rakshas to give him a piece of her mind the very next day. pagaal (my heart muttered softly with softer dazed eyes and a crooked grin).

You mentioned how thin Sanaya was. it worked so well to establish how young Khushi was. At the guesthouse she looked ethereal. A lot to do with that fragile exterior and fiery interior.

I loved her look very early on. That dargah white churidar.. where did it go? And ASR even claimed he liked her in white. Couldn't they have used it once more?

I don't mind asking any number of ghar ka patas if that is the expression we'll get😆 Even I can't stand all the sanctimonious preachy cutesy girls one sees very often on tv. But khushi, especially of the early days, was really special. And the way she was styled then, why did they change it. When I see her hairstyle in the dilli ma bali episode, one is like, what were they thinking? The early days, in spite of the weirdness one bought into it. Both of them so good, and yes looked so fresh.
Good to see you Rhea!

tightest? nahiiin, what will happen to me then? i'll wear my brightest with really huge pompoms and tedha choti too...

great to see ladkiyas on the thread. see what angry young asr can do.

rhea, right you be... thin cued young, youthful too... and sanaya's unaffected acting. being totally weird without really showing it. a little bit of basanti there... way back i remember thinking hema really got basanti. well, she was romancing the hot dharam ji then, might have helped the whole thing.

and i am not comparing, just thinking of true blue weirdness. hema was pretty good as gita too in sita aur gita...it's hard to hit the wierd note without becoming loud, campy. and nothing else.

sanaya showed so much talent i thought.

okay the shot that dhakdhakked me is the strange one here. very badly need ghar ka pata.

that conversation was fabulous.

so you couldn't get to my jabe (or whatever) now you want to go to my ghar.

huh, you only are trying to talk to me.

i am not talking to you, i am telling you.

i am guffawing already.

Their dialogues were phenomenally good right through out.
The office shart days when he is giving her those impossible tasks to complete he says something on the lines of.. mera naam kya hai.. and she goes.. aap bhul gaye kya?

hahaha chamkili would surely have driven ASR crazy.

that aap bhool gaye was classic.

the dialogues and their vibe, just created such happiness.

i just watched a bit of the miserable shyam catching episodes... 356 to 358. even there, the two of them together at times are just too too good.

she calls him sadoo... sort of meaning it. he looks what the. then of course, the asr gesture getting everything she had mentioned... too pat. if you ask me, he would never ever do that, and yet, they made it work... nothing felt ipk... yet they did. every now and then that is.

episode 218

he was about to turn away and leave. she said, no... don't go. they had just spent their first night together sleeping next too each other. that mangalsutra caught in his button, that moment when he turned and looked at it and paused, as if reluctant to leave but he must... etched in my mind. her little frown, feeling the tug... a natural perfect moment. two people belonging together in it.

she was not letting him go... he didn't want to go.

we'd started in darkness but when the sun rose a sight that brought peace...

you just wanted to sit and watch and not say a word, in case they woke up. asr and khushi lay next to each other on the chaise longue, fast asleep.
how comfortably he snuggled against her and how naturally she lifted her chin to make space for his head. his body and hers melded, contours flowing into each other. a creative's remark about how they were like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that fitted perfectly came to mind. there was an innocence and an excitement in the visual. and a sense of rightness. this is how they should be, beside each other, sleeping without rancour, comfortably close. snuggling just the way they are.

the entire situation had come about in the most strange way, the way they had made it to the chaise longue, their bed for the night, was child like and full of that competitive asr khushi thing. through the night he'd gone around the narrow space, trying to get a comfortable position, balancing and grabbing onto his piece of chaise longue; as she had slept in a corner, oblivious to her circling satellite.

in the middle of that, he'd managed to reach up and hold her head as he saw her sliding off precariously. such a natural scene. and so obviously a look into asr's state of heart. can't hate her, even if he wants to... his instincts won't allow it. that tucking his hand under her cheek to keep her head from dangling uncomfortably, a lovely sequence, alive with his love, his need.

nice direction and camera work. i loved the top shot of the two as the sun came up.

he woke up first and realised what had happened. her face was inches away from his and he had to stare, take the sight in, looked as if he was surprised and then he couldn't look away, he wanted her so... just then... he had to steal a few minutes simply looking at her, receiving into him what he could of her.

his hand came up again to hold her head, settle her in... he could not stay away. as she slept maybe he could let the tenderness through.

beautiful shots. i watch, my heart thudding and slowing to the rabba vey pace...

then she woke up and that surprise, followed by a murmurous emotion. the day sought something...right here... stay, it seemed to say, don't move.

lyrical really this silent set piece. asr and khushi on a chaise longue waking up next to each other after sleeping together for the first time.

a tender misty air, tremulous, precious... and a hunger in it. well, this may not be di's idea of honeymoon, but it was beautiful and moving... and of course, since it was khushi and asr by sanaya and barun, there was plenty cool in it.

even as story jumped about a little disjointed, their love story never lost track. there was always a note of something stark and real about them. this is how, you could believe people got attracted, fell in love, made mistakes, made amends, fell deeper and deeper in love and a relationship got built.
necessity is really the mother of many splendid things. that wedding had been forced on the story. and yet, because of all sorts of things, they could not be shown to be together... so creatives had to work hard to come up with scenes of asr khushi rabba vey. i have no idea who came up with this part of the story, but showing them sleeping together that too on the chaise longue, was a wonderful idea. the bed might have been considered too much of a jump in their current acrimonious state... and somehow they looked just perfect on that sloping couch, so much a part of asr's life.

i enjoyed the fact that neither was in too much of ahurry to get back to reality. the little tussle over the mangalsutra very pretty. again and again things belonging to her call out to him. and he must listen. the man who had ripped her dori, torn her dupatta, let her go from a higher floor... is yet to realise that resistance is futile. he is caught in that mangalsutra knot and getting out of it is not possible.

i am not much into the shameless use of signs of marriage, considered sacred by many, to tell a story of love... trying to get into and manipulate the emotional under layer of the audience. and even if they were not married and it was an ordinary chain that had held him back, i'd find it equally beautiful. for asr and khushi paint for me a love story that really is not bound by the norms of rigid custom and society.

they reach and elevate the idea of love beyond all that.

that mangalsutra... months ago, it had been her dupatta, a white untouched one that had trailed and lingered on the contours of his face, making him turn, eyes searching. that time he couldn't see her... this time, there she was... there she was.

...

...

some scenes from the night before they slept off... i liked kkgsr's gleeful, how could the mosquitoes bite you, they only drink sweet blood. i completely fell for his tenderness toward his hater on their sleeping place.

now he can't talk... and a little more of look look how well khushi gets asr will be unleashed upon us... as if such an obvious ploy was needed to establish that. i liked her exasperated dialogue though... tell me what other "takniki kharabi" you have, bimari of sugar, allergy to agarbatti, and what else...

how could he say, helpless against the assault of one number khushi kumari gupta now singh raizada.

shyam said this in episode 14 and did to buaji's foot exactly what asr did to khushi's in 110.

wow, i thought, i wasn't imagining it. it was a deliberate thing in ipk. almost everything asr did or said, that was significant, was done or said by someone else. often shyam... sometimes others, but presented another facet of the same thing. there was always this sense of reflections, mirrors, deja vu.

shyam and asr seemed to reflect two sides of something, as if the same thing passed through different material changes entirely and becomes something else, and reveals the nature of the material itself.

don't you think this thoda dard hoga and the foot treatment is too similar to be just a coincidence or people running out of ideas?

similar dialogues often got said by different people in ipk. i used to wonder why... hitesh kewaliya not being able to keep up with the pace and demands of a daily soap? or was there something to it? a technique of story telling? creating dimension via recall and layering of memory with what's unfolding before our eyes.

i am always intrigued.

OK.. so you were talking about thoda dard here.. I missed..very thoughtful on how similar/ different asr and shyam are..

Shyam's custom pain balm is one of his imp clues identities.. that led Khushi to his real self later on.. so for me actually that initial buaji massage was a great way to depict how things were well knit and connected initially.. hallmark of golden IPK..attention to fine detail..

One of Khushi's payal was missing.. asr noted that.. he exactly knew where it was..a commotion, voice inside him... he set onto finish a task.. the man who laughed at his Di early on for the stars who can't even shine on their own ..kneeling by this well lit pool side by this girl in red.. the drop dead gorgeous man perhaps has no clue what an utter beautiful romantic moment his pure thought has created ..4 yrs on...i can die thousand deaths to get that moment back...

I don't think it was lack of ideas.. or Hitesh K running out of words. In my head its all in the context/ chemistry the line was spoken..fortunately the beauty of it couldn't be corrupted by the common line early on with a truly care giving man tending to an elderly lady ...

But you are right, there are many commonalities shown esp early on between asr and shyam. .. Khushi's palat to Shyam.. perhaps that was truly meant to mislead the viewers or even Khushi very early on to who her Rajkumar is. But after 1/2 epis of Shyam a clear eeriness was shown around him, the way he stealthily opens doors, his visible panic at the mention of asr or his family... he was established untrustworthy. even his bg music (when he admires Kh) was sly, clearly devious...i thought..

ASR and Shyam are true examples of don't judge thy by face, immediate acts.. what lies beneath is different..

Thanks for the very observative post Indi.. if you were not to be here.. hume thoda nahi.. bahut dard hoga..:)
