Looks like an interesting discussion...let me put my two cents in...

First and foremost i am die hard Drau fan...the 5 so called patis come way down in the list. Everyone seems to forget that Draupadi was probably the only one in the whole of the epic who never swayed from the path of Dharma...she always did what was right no matter the consequence to her. Such a strong woman is hard to digest for most people...they prefer their women to be more like Sita! Hence all those snide and cruel comments.

Even a mother has a different relation with each of her children so how can we expect a woman to react the same to 5 different men with such varied personalities? Doesn't her own personality have anything to do with how she responds to others?

Maybe she had a stronger connect with Arjuna, could it because of the fact that he won her? a trivial detail no doubt!! And Yudi commenting on it is the last straw. Staking your wife is the biggest adharma in my opinion no matter what misguided sense of dharma he was following!! How he alone was allowed to walk up to heaven still beats me!!!

Anu..agree with 4 of the Ps...as far as Yudhi is concerned i would bone up on "How to get away with murder" πŸ˜†

Who loved whom more is always a very subtle topic n difficult to judge.
I personally believe that Draupadi loved Arjun the most bcoz in Vanaparva, Draupadi really expresses how much her life is incomplete without Arjun...n then when Arjun left for Lord Shiva's Tapasya, the way she shared her thoughts with him,I dont think Draupadi had ever done that with any of her other husbands in the epic. So for me, these r reason enough to believe that she loved Arjun the most...with or without Yudisthir's comment...

As for her other husbands, indeed she did her duties perfectly. She may have loved Arjun more but she clearly never differentiated between them in her duties. If I am not wrong, when King Virat threw dice at Yudisthir, she immediately started nursing his wound irrespective of all the failures of Yudisthir...she never stopped being a wife to anyone despite her extra love for Arjun...So, I dont think that portraying her inclination towards Arjun takes away her charm as a dutiful wife from any angle...If a woman can wake up early, sleep late, have one meal a day, wash her husbands' feet etc for the sake of her husbands after such a debacle, then certainly she was an epitome of an ideal Indian wife, atleast as per Hindu scriptures.

As for Yudisthir, I guess he was one shrewd man with an honest n noble exterior.

Love Poem... finally as promised πŸ˜‰

The pitter patter of the rain

as it danced on the muddy field,

made me look up and stare

at the deep grey sky.

A flash of light made

me close my eyes and

there I saw her ...

she who would never be mine.

With a smile so wide,

and a face so pretty.

A goofy expression,

with eyes that played

the ultimate game of hide-and-seek..

I felt my grip tighten,

the string ripping through my fingers.

I felt my body tremble,

the thought of not being with her.

I wanted to stare at her for hours,

to throw everything away.

Just keep her in my thoughts,

until the end of eternity.

As pain hit my body,

I dropped to one knee.

I wish I was proposing,

but shit I'm bleeding.

As the grip loosened,

my thoughts fogged up.

I tried to fight back,

but it was all to be lost.

Then I hear her voice,

a charming, dazzling sound.

She cried out my name

again and again through her tears.

I breathed a sigh of relief,

and decided to swallow my pride.

If I was ever going to get close to her,

It's time for it to die.

I turned back to see her enchanted smile,

filling my entire heart with love.

I smiled right back, despite my bloody mouth

and with my heart on fire, I leaped about..

I ducked and dodged,

jumped and twisted.

I even contorted my body,

just to make it more impressive.

She stood there smiling,

perhaps even laughing,

at my crazy antics.

I didn't mind,

for she was my Panchaali,

but I was her Paarth.
