Barkat Villa, Malabar Hill, Mumbai, India.
She wiped the sweat of her eyes as she kneeded the dough for the day's dinner.
Aaliya kept looking at the clock by the fridge.
It indicated it was 5 to 7.
"Kitkit bhul gaya hoga mere baare mein pakka. Doon din ho gaye usse jakar.
Na ek text ya whatsapp ya call.
And he has all the time to call Saif and ask about everyone.
Atleast saath baje call kar leta. Kitkit time!"
She pounded at the dough harder.
"Mamu Ki Bhanji!" She said in a gruff voice, imitating him. Or at least trying to.
"Saath se saade sath humara kitkit time hai!
Ab tumhare saath kitkit kiye bina neend nai aati!"
She blew out a strand of hair away from her eyes.
And failed.
"Khaak neend nai ati! He must be having fun there without me. No rok tok na! He must be with those ski-"
"Aaliya chachi, Aaliya chachi, aapke liye phone hai!" Saif ran into the kitchen, dumped the phone on the counter and ran away.
"Hello?" She barked into the phone.
"Whoa babe. So much love."
"Zain?" She said, surprised. Her heart skipped a beat.
She knew why. But she chose to ignore it.
"Aur kaun?"
"Call kyun kia?"
"Kyun? Should I ask the POTUS to call my pretty little wife?"
He must be drunk indefinitely,she thought. He calls me,after two freaking days of no contact, tell me that I am little. Tells me that I am- wait did he just call me pretty?
Yes he did and you loved it.
Pshft Subconcious. Why should I?

"No, I don't." She spoke out loud.
"Umm, what?" He asked from the other side.
"Are you drunk? And what the hell is POTUS?"
He chuckled.
"Thought you would ask that. President of The United States darling. Obama."
"I am not your darling. And you are yet to inform me of the reason why-"
"I called? Itni jaldi bhul gai? It is our kitkit time no?"
"Not for the last two days." She grumbled.
"Oh, you missed me."
"No,I didn't."
Yes you did.
"Yes you did."
"Shut up." She said, both to her subconcious and her husband.
"Admit you missed me."
"I don't lie."
"I know you don't love, but you are lying right now."
"No I am not."
Yes you are.
"Yes, you are. You are craving for me right now."
"In you dreams Abdullah."
"But you missed me?" He asked, being persistently annoying.
"Honestly. You are worse than my subconcious. Even she is like an annoying bee even after I tell her to shut up"
"You talk with yourself in your head?"
She remained mum.
See, I am away for two days and you are starting to go mad."
He has a point there you know.
No he doesn't. I am not mad.
But you are in Love. With a capital L

"Hello? Aaliya, you there?"
"Hmmm?"
"Well, I don't know weather you missed me or not, I certainly did."
Her heart flipped again.
"You did?" She stammered.
"Uh-uh. I couldn't even knot a damn tie."
"Right. You missed me because there was no one to knot your tie?"
"Uh-huh. And no one to kick me while I sleep. Well that is a really odd thing to miss you know. Buy I couldn't help it."
"Jee thanks. Glad to know I hold so much importance in your life."
"Yeah well, how are you?"
"Two days Zain. I did not turn into a freight train overnight."
"Would you look at that!" Zain exclaimed.
"Aaliya Zain Abdullah had a sense of humor.!
She could hear the laugh in his voice and her annoyance washed away. The corners of her mouth lifted a bit.
"Haha. Well, it chose to remain invisible while you were here. It did not like you."
"Glad to hear it."
"Zain hain?"
Aaliya turned around to see Suraiya standing by the door.
She nodded.
Suraiya extended her hand and Aaliya reluctantly handed over the phone.
"Zain beta.." and she walked out the kitchen.
Aaliya's heart sank. Even though she was not ready to admit it, she did miss him. And she knew that. Weird thing was she thought she would have enjoyed staying away from him.
Apparently not. She wondered why.
I am telling you, you love him. a snide voice chided again.
"Oh go away!" She groaned as resumed making dinner.

5:23 AM, Barkat Villa,Mumbai, India.
Suraiyya Abdullah quickly silenced the alarm clock so as not to wake up the whole household.
She glanced at the sleeping figure of her husband and sneakily crept out of the room.
She crossed the hall quitely and opened the main door.
She waited for a whole five minutes when a sleek Honda City pulled up by the gate.
She ran towards the figure that was getting out of the car and hugged him.
"Mom!" The figure said. "Its been two days!"
"Whatever Zain. I am allowed to miss my son okay?"she said, crossing the threshold and locking the door behind her.
"Now leave your luggage here and do what you came to do!"
"Yeah,okay. Going."
He jogged up the stairs and opened his bedroom door.
He could see her covered in blankets.
Shaking his head he softly sat beside her and pulled them down.
Her eyes fluttered open as she felt a pair of arms encircling her waist.
She turned around to find Zain smiling sleepily at her.
"Zain?" She said groggily.
"Hi Mamu Ki Bhanji" he whispered, nuzzling her neck.
"Don't pull the blankets over your head. I am always afraid you'll die of suffocation." He murmered in her ear, sending chills against her spine.
"What are you doing here?"
"There was a thing I wanted to tell you but couldn't over the phone." His voice sounded very soft to her ears.
"You flew all night to tell me something?" She asked,no longer sleepy.
"Yup. It was important."
"Yeah? What's that?"
Is it her brain or was her heart racing?
"Yahi, ki I love you." He said and kissed her whole on the mouth.

"Aa gaya Zain?" Usman asked softly as his wife crept under the blankets.
"Haan. Did you know he was going to propose over the phone?"
Usman chuckled.
"He was always an adorable idiot to begin with. A bit loopy too."
Suraiyya laughed softly.
"Yeah, he was telling me that he had recently started talking with his self inside his head."
