Zain and his words

So, can anyone tell me why Zain keeps referring to Aliyah as his 'wife'? Has he not yet completely accepted the divorce or the divorce has not happened and we are getting hints from CVs this way? It's rather confusing.

I seriously hope CVs are not using 'wife' simply to give Zain a lesson as in how it will feel when Aliyah marries Rehan and he then realizes that Aliyah is not his wife anymore.

This word play - is it Zain's psychological state of mind only or is there more to it?
