She stood watching as he cut the vegetables ,blindfolded by a strip of black cloth.Sarju and rafeeq were watching with awaited breath.She had to stand strong-there was atleast a few kilos of vegetables to be peeled and chopped,and she knew that he would surely fail at the task set be her and then she would be free to send him back to Mumbai..that was the deal,remember!And then everything would get back to normal..there would be no Zain Abdullah in her life,to remind her of her broken past and reality..For the past 1 year she had spent trying to collect the broken pieces of her heart..she ahd managed to put them back with glue and tape,and she would not lay out her emotions only to get them crushed once again..she ahd spent every waking and sleeping hour trying to erase him from her memory..break free from everything and start anew..she ahd tried so many times,yet even till today when she closed her eyes,she could see herself standing in that hotel room,accepting the third talaaq...
She had always wanted him to succeed,but not this time.She won't allow him to make her fallback into his arms,because she knew that however much he tried he won't succed in all the three challenges set before him..
"Appa yeh app KYA kar rahi hai---Zain bhaijaan yeh sab chodd dijiye...aapko lag--"
"Arre mujhe kuch nahi hoga rafeeq...tumhare Appa..kuch hone nahi degi..."Zain wiped his sweaty brows with the back og his sleeve,before getting back to his work at hand.

"Aaah!"He gasped,as the sharp edge of the nife made contact with his skin.A tingly feeling coursed through his body-he had cut his finger.Aaliya's heart clenche as she saw blood ooze out of the cut,she wantded to rush beside him,but a voice in her head stopped her.She was doing it for him-too right? The sooner he got out of her memories and dellusion that he could win her back,the faster he would be able to move on in life and make a new beginning with someone else.
"Appa-aap please rokiye na inhe.."Sarju pleaded trying to wrest the nife out of his hand..but it was as if her mind had decided to shut out all other voices..even her heart's.
Aaliya wondered how long she would be able to carry on with her facade.Everytime the knife made contact with his skin,she winced in pain.Zain remembered the pain that he had inflicted on her,the humiliation and words that he ahd metted out to her-the pain that he ahd gone through,losing his father and love of life -all at once,the pain that killed him everyday ,little by little,the pain that he felt when he had to survive without her..the delibitating pain that was numbing him..seemed nothing new.he could feel the stray tears trickle down his eyes...and he chuckled at Sarju and rafeeq..he lifted his head to look at her ..he could see her...but he knew that her heart was bleeding just like his hand was..."Aaah..Ouchhh!Zain felt the knife slice through his palm and felt the blood ooze out.Warm blood gushed out of the exposed wounds. He pressed snugly against his opened wounds to stop the free flowing surge of sticky blood.
"Rafeeq-Sarju-inhe bol do ki aur kaam badhane ki koi zaroorat nahi hai-yeh yahaan se chali jaye.."
Blood was slowly oozing out of numerous wounds in his face and arm, a small but relentless flow of crimson, but however, he felt no pain..instead a small sad smile crept up his face as they opened his blindfold and he caught her fleeting glance..the pain in them visible to his eyes..he had succeeded in the first challenge..

Her pain-her past,had drained out the last drop of humanity from her blood.She was no better than a corpse-a living corpse.living without him was even worse than death..it was like dying slowly,a little everyday..every moment taunting her of her failures.of his words,of the memories that they would always share..Aaliya droped onto her knees at the back of the dhaba,in the small room which served as her resting place.Nausea swirled inside her-unrestrained as she tried to shut out his gasps everytime the knife sliced through his skin...she wanted to stop the upsurge of emotions...because she had to stay 'strong'.But she failed miserably..everytime his bloodies hands flashed in front of her eyes--How could she just stand there and let him go through that much pain..when she knew that he would end up cutting himself..how would ever be able to tell him that his every cut surrnounted to a thousand cuts to her-that everytime he winced in pain,but covered up with a brave smile...her heart cried but she couldn't relent because of the circumstances..her body shook uncontolably.as tears made their way out of her eyes.."Kyun Allah..kyun Zain ko mujhe talaaq dene se nahi roka aapne--Kyun nahi roka..KYUN??Main toh aapki ladli hoon na--apne mere sath yeh kaise hone diya..pata hai jab ussed dard hota hai..tohh meri jaan nikaal jaati hai..maine aapse pichle ek saal se yahi duaa mangti gayi ki Zain jahaan kahi bhi ho usse mere yaadon se bahar aane me madaad karna..usse hifazat karna...aur aapne kya kiya...aapne usse meri zindagi mei phirse bhej diya..kyun tadpa-tadpa ke mar rahe hai aap hum dono ko..kun main apne beete hua kal ko bhula nahi paa rahi hoon..kyun yadon ke zanjeero se bahar nahi aa paa rahi hoon..."
