That is why I saw it in that way. Because I would like to justify Duryodhan's hatred for the Pandavs through Arjun's way. The commoners and the normal people loved them alot.. and they slowly took away the place the Kauravs had (acc to Kauravs). But Kauravs never had any place. It is one thing to be forced to respect someone and another thing to respect people who never sought any respect.
