She smiled happily.
For she was in his arms at last. His warmth made her feel secure.
His kiss on her forehead made her feel loved.
And all those fights, all those misunderstandings and shouting matches were forgiven.
He had came to take her back after all.
She knew he would come.
Because she knew he loved her.
And her eyes prickled from unshed tears that waited to be freed.
Her face quivered into feeling and those despicable tears rejoiced at their conquest and strayed upon her cheeks.
He broke the hug and looked upon her face longingly.
He stroked the base of his thumb across her cheeks and wiped those unbidden tears off.
His eyes too were bloodshot, probably because he must have cried too.
She was his after all.
And as they walked hand in hand she realised, happiness is not a possesion to be prized. It was a state of the mind, the quality of the thought.
And that thought made her wish that time would stop for a moment and she could embrace the feeling.
This moment, like many other she shared with him was unmeasured by clock, running on to eternity.
And when she caught his smile, she knew, they were in it for a lifetime together.
"They marched in unison, no clash of thought or opinion making a barrier between them."
