She is puzzling

It was raining cats and dogs outside and the whole population of the school was in a deep slumber.
Two were an exception to this.
Zain was trying to complete his economics homework. At 2 in the night.
"Aghhh" he let out a muffled scream, frustrated. He simply did not get the multiplier concept.
"f**k you Alfred Marshall, and f**k whoever wrote this book."
He wanted to pull out his hair.
"Procastination is a bitch, ain't it Abdullah." Said a voice from the doorway.
"Go away Haider." He grumbled, trying to reread the page.
She simply chuckled.
He could hear some shuffling noises and a chair scraping the floor next to him.
He looked up.
She had made herself comfortable in one of the armchairs next to him, her legs curled up."What are you doing?" He asked, his nose scrunched.
"Reading" said she. And promptly produced a book from nowhere. Or so it seemed to him.
"At this ungodly hour?"
She rolled her eyes and concentrated on her book, opening a chocolate bar.
"Can I have some?" He asked, extending his hand.
She glared at him.
"I will take that as a no then."
No reply.
"Okay." He said. "What are you reading?"
Again, she did not respond.
"Haider?"
She seemed lost.
"You know conversation is a two way thing right.?"
She sighed and looked up from her book, peering at him through her reading glasses.
"And you do realise that I am trying to read right? Don't disturb. And do your assignment, lazy arse."
He huffed and crossed his arms,muttering under his breath.
After a while he looked up from his notebook which consisted of his still non existent assignment.
He stared at her for a long time, trying to think why she looked different that night.
Maybe because she was wearing that ratty old t-shirt of her that said "clueing for looks." or those grey pj's of hers that had pink bunnies printed on them.
No. He decided. That can't be.
Besides, he had seen her in that attire a million times before. Never had she looked more tempting.
So was it the way she wore her hair? It seemed so perfectly messy in that bun.
A few escaped the million clips that held them in their place, framing her face.
Or was it her scent which seemed extra citrus-y to him? Or that expression of extreme concentration that adorned her face which was devoid of makeup.
He sure as hell couldn't decide but he was puzzled.
Why did she have to look goddamn attractive the night he had to complete his assignment?!
Now, I wouldn't be able to submit it on time. Because of you Haider.
I hate you.
Why did you have to be completely puzzling?
And he continued staring at her.
