Reason 1-B He loves her.

Aliya opened her eyes to a
suffocating white that was the hospital celing.
Her head seems to have burst because it was hurting so much.
Her arms ached,she had a terrible headache, her legs-
She panicked. Her legs.
She tried to sit up but in vain. Her arms were hooked to a millions hooks. Her forearms were dressed in white gauze.
"What happened?" She wondered as she drifted off to an uneasy med induced slumber.
The next time she opened her eyes,she was met with a much more favourable sight.
Him.
She sighed. But her angel looked so tired. She thought.
Bloodshot eyes, dark circles, shoddy clothes, messed hair, unshaven face.
She half wondered if he smelt.
She giggled at that thought.
Zain woke up from his deep thought when he heard her giggling.
His eyes shot up to her face, relief flooding his heart.
She was awake.
He quickly shot a thanks to Allah.
"Zain" she croaked. Her throat felt dry. Parched.
He understood her without her saying anything.
He filled a glass and helped her sit up.
That is when she realised her legs were gauzed up. Like she had a fracture.
And above all,
she couldnt feel them. Her eyes pooled up as panic made way into her senses.
Alarmed, Zain asked- "Aliya, what happened? Is it paining? Should I call a doctor?"
"Zai-" her voice broke.
"Zain" she tried again.
"I- I can-cant" she gasped.
"You can't what Aliya? "
"My-my legs."
His hands itched towards the call button,concern and confusion shining in his expression.
"I can't feel them" she said.
"Oh" he muttered.
"Zain-"
"Its ok Aliya. Nothing's wrong with your legs. They have numbed it cause-"
"What happened?" She croaked again.
"How much do you remember?"
"Uh- I left home after you left for office- I uh,was on my scooty-oh"
"Couldn't you drive more carefully! Aliya how careless could you be? You jumped a light! f**k Aliya! Why? What was so urgent?! I could have lost you you know?" He cupped her face, his voice rising each octave.
"Zain..shhh"
"What shhh? You never listen to me. Told you to take the car. No. When do you ever listen to me? No,you had to take your scooty. How crass Aliya. If the same had happened to me,you would have killed me no? I hate you Aliya."
He said, fighting back a sob.
"Aah, Ms Haider. You are awake. Do you feel your legs?"
"No" she panicked again.
"Good. Good. We have numbed it because your legs have second degree burns. Your engine had combusted. So for now, you have to do without feeling in them." The doctor said, inserting some liquid in the drip.
Second degree burns. That meant
scars She brushed back her hair when she saw it on her hand.
The doctor left when she asked-
"What's this?" holding up her finger on which sat a sapphire stoned ring.
"Oh that" zain replied, his voice level.
"That is our engagement ring. We are getting married."
"What?" She shouted, but her shout did not have any effect on him.
"Yeah. We are getting married. Haven't fixed the dates though" he rambled, making her drink water.
She gulped the entire glass in two large gulps.
"Obviously it has to be after you have recovered. Because-"
"ZAIN" she shouted, this time effectivley shutting her up.
"I know my name darling. No need to shout it. We are not having-"
"Zain" she said exasperated this time.
He managed a tired smile.
"Btw with who's permission are you marrying me? You have to ask me first no? So where's my proposal?"
"The rains ruined it. You are not getting any. You are getting married to me. Your parents and Zubair approve. My parents can go to hell."
"Ok, so let me get this straight. You are marrying me. Without my permission?" She wet her lips.
"Yeah. Cause you have a bad habit of running away from me. So yes. You are marrying me. It is not an option for you. Your opinions can stay where it is. Cause I know you won't say no. You are ready right? I know it is a big step. But six years is more than enough for me. I wanna be yours Aliya. And have children with you. And grow old with you. You are willing right? You will not say no right? Aliya?"
He asked, his voice changing from confident to desperate.
She smiled but it did not quite reach her eyes.
But he noticed.
"What happened? You want to wait? Or you don-"
"Zain" she wisphered,tears in her eyes.
She took his hands in hers.
"Do you really want to marry me?"
"What kind of stupid question is that?" He asked,siiting on her bed.
"I mean will you marry me because-" her voice broke.
"Aliya?" He asked, concerned.
"I am scarred after all."
His eyes grew soft and his voice softer-" I don't care. At all. Trust me."
"But Zain-"
"Shush. I am in love with you. You really think I would care?"
"But Zain-"
"Aliya," he said,shifting his posture so that he too was half sitting-half lying near her.
"I don't care. I fell in love. You made me fall in love. Now when I want to grow old with you and have seven kids with you and read books with you and eat chocolates with you- you are backing off? That would be cheating Aliya, you would be cheating on your life. My life."
"Why do you love me?" Her voice raspy again.
"Because- because" Zain tried, his hands busy in making motions of the words he could not speak.
"I just do.! That should be reason enough"
He stroked her hair and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"I wanna know" she said admantly.
He sighed.
"Because you are the most irritating person on this planet."
She raised one eyebrow.
He rolled his eyes.
"You are the only one who can make me jealous or overprotective. The one who can make me smile despite myself. "
He rambled.
"The one who puts me in line. You-you are-"
He struggled,sighed and tried again.
"You are like a puzzle to me. Waiting to be solved. I want to solve you Aliya. And a lifetime seems so little for me to do that.
I love you soo much that I can't even say a no to you. You have always been there for me Aliya. You gave me a family. You made me believe again. Now you cant back off. You can't leave me. And that too because of no reason."
She smiled weakly, the drugs kicking in.
Her eyes drooped.
"Go to sleep." He said softly.
"We will talk about this later."
He kissed her nose and made her lie down properly before lying next to her.
"Zain." She muttered.
"Hmm?" He said, hugging her carefully.
"I am not giving birth to seven kids. Be satisfied with one or two."
And she drifted off to sleep.
He smiled and spoke in her ear.
"We will see Haider."
She smiled in her sleep.
"I love you Haider. I love you very much"
