PART 11. PRELUDE TO REALIZATIONS!
Two years passed away while Zain and Aaliya continued to fight. Some people saw their fight as entertainment and often had popcorn and juice handy for such occasions like Fahad and Nafisa and some people just rolled their eyes and walked away like our dear Maamu and Maami. In these two years, Aaliya had completed her studies and as of today, was getting ready for the send off party of her college.
Aaliya was very happy today. And why wouldn't she be? Her College was throwing a send off party for the Seniors and as she was a senior too, she was very excited to go. Aaliya sifted through the dresses in her wardrobe. She had confused on what to wear. She looked and looked but after a while she gave up. Ya Allah! Main kya pehnu? Yahaan toh kuch achcha nahi dikh raha! She huffed and pouted in annoyance. That is when Allah Miyaah decided to help her out. He sent Suraiya!
"Aaliya beta?", Aaliya heard Suraiya call and she looked at the door where Suraiya was standing. Suraiya smiled as she walked in with a package in her hand, "Aaliya beta! Kya aapne aaj shaam ke party ke liye koi dress choose kiya hai?"
Aaliya shook her head and looked at Suraiya sadly.
Suraiya smiled at her, "Achcha hua! Kyunki hum aapke liye ek perfect Saree laayein hain!"
Aaliya's eyes widened, "Saree?", she grinned excitedly.
Suraiya smiled and handed her the package. Aaliya pulled out the Saree and grinned happily. It was in a beautiful sky blue color with some very simple silver work on it but Suraiya was sure that the simplicity of the Saree would only enhance Aaliya's beauty.
As Suraiya walked away Aaliya happily hugged the Saree. Ya Allah! Aaj toh aapne mera din bana diya!
Fahad and Nafisa watched the scene in front of them as if they were watching a tennis match. Their necks swirled from one end to other end as they took in the scene. And what was the scene? What had got Fahad and Nafisa looking from one end to other end of the room? What else but the human species with the name of Zain Usman Abdullah.
Zain was pacing from the one end of the hall to the other end while Nafisa and Fahad watched him pace amusedly. And why was Zain pacing? Because Suraiya had made him Aaliya's personal driver for the night. He was supposed to drop Aaliya to the party and then come back home and when Aaliya called him he was supposed to go back just to pick her up.
"Driver samajh rakha hai kya?", Fahad and Nafisa heard Zain grumble and looking at each other grinning. After every few seconds, Zain would grumble some words about the situation which would make Fahad and Nafisa grin at each other while try to not laugh and bring attention to them. Both were seated at a nearby sofa watching Zain pace.
Zain rolled his eyes as Nafisa and Fahad shared another smile. They thought he did not notice, but he noticed. Oh! He noticed everything including their smiles and expression. He knew why they were smiling. They were smiling at his grumbling. Let them smile! They did not know that he was just acting. Zain smiled to himself. All this grumbling and pacing was just his acting. He was actually very happy when Suraiya asked him to be Aaliya's driver. Sirf ek din ke liye? Zain's heart had grumbled. Poore life ke liye kyun nahi? But Zain reacted with anger and refusal knowing very well that Suraiya will not let go and will force him to pick and drop Aaliya. After arguing for a while, finally it had happened. Suraiya ordered him into dropping and picking Aaliya and Zain bowed his head down in reluctant acceptance while his heart excited thumped in his chest. Aaliya ke saath long drive! Thank you Allah Miyaah!
Zain continued to pace and act as if taking Aaliya to her College was an insult to his status when suddenly he stopped and stared. Fahad and Nafisa stopped staring at Zain and frowned. They turned to look at what had shocked Zain only to see a beautiful Aaliya coming down the stairs. As Fahad and Nafisa smiled at Aaliya wondering how grown up the sweet sister/ sister-in-law was looking, Zain stared at Aaliya with his jaw hanging open. He felt his heart stop and suddenly he was sent back two years back when he first time saw Aaliya getting down the stairs the same way and looking like an angel at that time too. Only this time, instead of passing by him, she came to stop right in front of him and gave him a bright smile. Zain's heart slowed down, skipped few beats and then picked up and started racing wildly. Luckily for him, Nafisa and Fahad decided that this was the right time to compliment Aaliya, so no one noticed Zain's stupefied expression.
"Zain?", Suraiya's words brought Zain from his Aaliya land and he looked over at Suraiya who was staring at him with confused expression. Yeh Zain ko kya ho gaya hai? When Zain gave her a mischievous smile Suraiya smiled. Haan! Ab sab theek hai! She ordered Zain to take Aaliya and drop her to the College Party. Zain gave Aaliya a glare and stormed away. Aaliya huffed. Ya Allah! Aaj ke din toh uss sweet Zain ko bhej diya hota!
Aaliya huffed as she looked at Zain sitting beside her, driving the car. Ya Allah! Isne kuch bola kyun nahi? Sab meri taarif kar rahe the, keh rahe the ki main achchi lag rahi hoon! Maamu, Maami, Fahad Bhai, Nafisa Bhabhi, sab meri taarif kare thak nahi rahe the, lekin isne; isne abhi tak kuch bhi nahi kahaa! Arre! Hum jhagadte hain toh kya hua? In do saalon mein mujhe laga tha hum dono atleast dost toh ban hi gaye honge! Lekin ise dekho? She looked over at Zain who resolutely stared at the road in front of him. Aaliya sniffed. Ek shabd bhi nahi phoot raha iske mooh se! Zain! Kuch toh bolo! Kya main achchi nahi lag rahi? Kuch toh bolo Zain! But Zain continued to remain silent and Aaliya continued to pout in sadness.
Soon the car reached her College party Venue and Aaliya got down.
"Aaliya!", Zain called out from the car while still looking ahead and Aaliya who was walking towards the Party Hall turned around eagerly. Shaayad ab meri Saree ki taarif karega! She subconsciously adjusted her Saree pallu in anticipation.
Zain looked at her, "Jab tumhein nikalna ho, toh mujhe call kar dena! Main tumhein pick up karne aa jaaunga!"
Aaliya's eager face fell down and she nodded while pouting. She turned and started to walk away.
"Aur suno!", Zain called and Aaliya again turned eagerly. Shaayad ab bolega!
"Agar maine phone nahi uthaaya toh Fahad Bhai ko call karna! Main nahi toh Bhai tumhein pick up karne aa jaayenge!"
Aaliya narrowed her eyes in anoyance. Bas yahi bolna tha! Uff!
She turned to walk away again when Zain spoke up again, "Achcha suno!"
Aaliya hated herself for the excitement she felt in her heart. She turned again with hope only for Zain to say, "Aur mobile kahin bhool mat jaana! Apne paas hi rakhna! Pata chala koi gadbad hogaya aur tum hum logon ko call bhi nahi kar paayi kyunki tum mobile kahin bhool gayi thi!"
Aaliya was beyond annoyance now. She was bubbling in anger. She stamped her foot, turned around and walked a few steps when...
"Aaliya!", Zain spoke again making Aaliya huff in anger as she turned around. She stomped towards him, placed her hands on her hips and rudely shouted, "Kya hai?"
Zain started the car and gave her a smirk. He spoke in a soft loving voice, "Tum bahut achchi lag rahi ho! Very beautiful!" Saying this, he changed the gear and drove away leaving behind a stupefied Aaliya.
Aaliya stared at the car with her jaw hanging open. Did he just compliment me?
As Zain drove off, he saw Aaliya's expression in the sideways mirror and let out a loud laugh. He loved to annoy her. Ab ghar aao aur lado mujhse, Miss Aaliya Ghulam Haider!
