Fair Naku and her mother converse. Babi shows concern, Naku what if Bhau breaks his marriage with you? Naku faces her mother, that's enough Aye! had enough of living in fear. Now no more lies. If my love is true than no one will be able to break this marriage. Besides I have Bappa's blessings with me, now I fear no one, so mother you need to give me your blessings too, that I am able to tell the truth about myself. Babi blesses her and says, go now my child, while I pray before Bappa for you. Naku leaves.
Kala's den
Kishore sits reading a book. Aye Sahib passes by, Kishore goes to her and asks her, what's bothering her? she replies ,on this Diwali, inauspicious things have been happening , Kishore reminds her that things could have been much worse, but they didn't , but this is true that there is an evil eye on our house, but this is true as well, that due to enough good people in this house, the evil one's efforts fail, that's why the evil one loses each time! and evil will continue to lose in future too. Aye Sahib says,ok let me go talk to Babi about the haldi ritual, which this time should be held according to full rites. Aye Sahib leaves.
Naku in her real complexion enters the main hall to head to Dutta's room. Dutta sits in his rocking chair in his room, musing. Babi and Sethji pray before Bappa. Kala sits in her room, recalling the fair Naku lighting divas on her window sill. Naku confidently moves on to Dutta's room.. Dutta with a scowl in his face recalls the boy who offered him sweets on the dhantera's day. He recalls the complete incident of the dying guest . Baji's words later on , Bhau ,it's someone know to us that dared to do this. Naku moves on. Aye Sahib comes down the wooden stairs. Naku stops mid way and looks at her as Aye Sahib walks on.. Naku thinks , and Aye Sahib turns the corner and there notices this figure, she looks at her puzzled and moves closer and stares at this girl. Naku says, Aye Sahib! Dutta's mother is amazed, gives this girl a look over! as Naku mumbles, I ... Aye Sahib asks, who are you? and Naku replies, Aye Sahib, I am ..and Aye Sahib says shocked, Nakusha? what is all this Naku ? am I dreaming? or is this a reality? Kala turns up and Aye turns to her,Kala! do you see all this? Kala replies, yes Aye Sahib I can see our vahini clearly! Babi creeps in from the side and holds her breath at the scene ahead. Aye Sahib, tells Kala off, what's all this Kala? you knew about all this? Kala says, I found out about it myself today. Babi now stands beside her daughter, as Kala stands by her mother.. Kala explains, I was going to mention this to you , but you got to find out yourself. Aye Sahib chides Naku.. look! on the thirteenth you are getting married to my son! and today I am looking at you in this image! before we take any decision, I would like to hear what you have to say for yourself.
Naku peaks , this is how I look in real life. All my life I have lived by hiding my true face. We lived in the slums of Mumbai, where to have a beautiful face was to be cursed, as men would cast evil eyes upon it, that's why I had to hide my pretty real face. I had to live with a dark and ugly face all my life, so none could see what I really looked like! all my life people poked fun and jeered at my ugly dark looks! I was a joke before every one who saw me! But Saab! he never laughed at my face! he treated me like a human being, I don't know when? I began to like him, then I feel in love with him! but Aye Sahib! in return for the love I have for him ,I never wanted anything in return, all I wanted to do was to rid him of all the bitterness he carried within himself. I always, wished that Saab should settle down in his life, with who ever! I never desired that he should fall in love with my dark and ugly face! that he should marry me.. but it seems that Bappa had something else in store for me. Bappa joined my destiny with Saab's destiny. May be Bappa wanted that we should become closer.. but Aye Sahib when I realised that my dream is about to come true, then I decided that I would go and tell Saab the whole truth about myself! but Aye Sahib ,I didn't have the courage to face him before, because Saab hates beautiful faces, hence I became afraid of telling him the truth. But now that I am getting married to Saab, I will not start our relationship based on this lie! I have decided, that I will tell the truth about myself, yes Aye Sahib I am determined to tell him the truth...
Aye Sahib , says, all this you could have told us before! now even if I try to believe you, my heart still says you have cheated us..because our son has always been cheated in love!
Babi weeps and falls to Aye Sahib's feet! it's not her fault! it was my decision to hide Naku's face! I have two daughters, both beautiful. the older one's beauty was her down fall! she was misled! Some man made her a fool, told her that her beauty can make her destiny!so she left us.. and I was afraid then, that the same fate would befall my younger daughter, so with my own hands I covered her face with soot!i wanted to save her from the world's eyes. But then Morey came into her life, he had seen her real face, he wanted to marry her with the intentions of selling her! so that's why to save out lives, and to save her virtue we had to leave Mumbai !we were destitute, looking for a place to live, it was then that Bhau saved us! gave us refuge and brought us to this house. yes Aye Sahib, it's a curse for a beautiful girl to be born in the house of the poor, all look upon her with evil on their minds! one has to hide that beauty! to save one's daughter's virtue...that's why I made my child wear a mask! I haven't let anyone see her real face! I didn't want to cheat any one Aye Sahib! I was just trying to save my child, because when ever any one saw her real face, she falls into trouble! first it was the people of the basti, then Morey, than Anna..but Dutta Bhau.. he's unique! like an angel! now that I trust him completely.. I have decided that I will set Naku free from her dark complexion ! Aye Sahib.. I beg you..says Babi. Kala asks her mother, what shall we do? should we trust in what they have said? because Dutta Bhau will not be able to tolerate this grief! Kala on one hand I feel that these two speak the truth, because in this world, which girl would hide her real beauty? it's easy to cover one's face, but the sincerity and goodness of a person behind that face cannot be concealed! that's why my mind accepts them, but.. it's my heart that cannot pardon them! you hid such a vital truth from me, from Dutta. Kala joins in, you are right Aye Sahib, I too feel deeply saddened by their traumatic story, but at the moment I am not thinking about us, but Dutta Bhau ..you know Aye Sahib, how much he hates beauty in a woman! when he finds out that not only is Nakusha, a beauty, but that she hid this major reality from him, he won't be able to tolerate this. may be after finding this truth he refuses to marry Nakusha?and again he will withdraw himself into his little world. Naku fights her case.. Tai, Aye Sahib! I'll accept whatever punishment Saab gives me,but I will not marry Saab with a false face! I will tell him every thing! truthfully! Kala asks, what should we do Aye Sahib? I am inclined to tell Dutta Bhau the whole truth! but it scares me to think what he will do afterwards he finds out. Aye Sahib, you know about Dutta's rage! he is capable of doing any thing.
Aye Sahib recalls Purhoit ji 's words, this girl stands between Dutta and his death ! Aye Sahib says, it's imperative that Nakusha should be Dutta's wife, because pandit ji said that she is Dutta's shield of protection. Besides from tomorrow the marriage rituals will begin! So it's impossible for Dutta to see Nakusha. Naku cries out, Aye Sahib! I can't tell any more lies, I can't start my married life with a lie! Aye Sahib says, Nakusha don't worry at the right time I will help you to tell Dutta the truth! Babi too agrees with Aye Sahib, that Naku shouldn't tell Dutta the truth! Naku says, ok Aye Sahib I'll do as you ask.. Kala mocks with a feigned expression, Aye Sahib you are so wonderful.. that you yourself have dug the grave for Dutta and Nakusha's relationship!... episode ends Hamlet53~ 18.6.14
This episode than gives us the background of Dutta and Naku's love.. Naku is a pathetic figure.. her intent is sincere and honest.. Whatever she says to Aye Sahib is in all earnestness but she is some how or the other misled or forced to abandon her decision of telling Dutta the truth about herself..
It now seems that the key people of the house all know about Naku's reality, Baji, Aye Sahib ,Kala...
But Dutta is still unaware.. the storm begins to gather now.. still some time to unleash yet.
Aye Sahib's love for her Dutta.. makes her coerce Naku to deceive .. Dutta.. what a catch 22 situation.. Kala however emerges as a winner...
