Dilip Joshi (born 26 May 1965) is an Indian film and television Actor. He has appeared in a number of serials as well as films. He acts mostly in comedy and is currently playing the role of Jethalal Champaklal Gada[1] in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He is a staunch believer in Swaminarayan BAPS.

Joshi has appeared in several Gujarati dramas, one of them being Bapu Tame Kamaal Kari with Sumeet Raghavan and Amit Mistry, the trio known for their television serialShubh Mangal Savadhan. Joshi starred in the show Yeh Duniya Hai Rangeen, in which he played a South Indian accountant. He also appeared in films such as Maine Pyaar Kiya, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!.
He plays the role of Jethalal Gada in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Notable among his tele-serials in Hindi are Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh, Hum Sub Ek Hain, Shubh Mangal Savdhan, Kya Baat Hai, and Meri Biwi Wonderful. He appeared in the children's comedy serialAgadam Bagdam Tigdam as Uncle Tappu, as well as in the 2009 films Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge and Ashutosh Gowarikar's What's Your Raashee?.

Disha Vakani (born 17 August 1978) is an Indian television actress, who has also acted in some Bollywood films and TV commercials. She is most known for her role as Daya Jethalal Gada in the popular comedy series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV. She is paired opposite Dilip Joshi who plays the role of Jethalal Champaklal Gada and their on screen chemistry is quite famous.
Vakani grew up in Bhavnagar, Gujarat,[1] where her father Bhim Vakani was a noted personality of Gujarati theatre, and she started acting in plays as a child actor. After her schooling, she graduated in the Dramatic arts from Gujarat College in Ahmedabad.[2]
Vakani started her career as a stage actor, acting in popular Gujarati plays like Kamal Patel v/s Dhamal Patel, and Lali Lila,[2] before moving to small roles in films like Devdas(2002) and Jodha Akbar (2008).[3] However her breakthrough role came in 2008, she was casted in the role of Daya Jethalal Gada or Daya-Ben in the comedy series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV, along with actor Dilip Joshi, who plays her husband, which made her household name.[1][4] As her popularity rose, within a year, the role was expanded, unlike the original Gujarati play, by columnist and journalist Taarak Mehta, where her character only had a minor role. Her popular grating voice in the series,[5] was based on the broken voices of Gujarati theatre actor of old times, when without the presence of mikes, actors has scream out their dialogues and thus their voices soon became gravelly.[6]
She went on win the Indian Television Academy Awards for Best Actress - Comedy twice in 2008 and 2009.[2] She also appeared in the Tide commercial.
She lives in Kandivli, Mumbai.[2] Mayur Vakani who plays the character of Sundarlal, Daya's brother in the serial, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is her real brother. She is not married yet and waiting for the right person in her life.

She is shown to be always on the phone with her mother, who finds new and funny names for Jethalal. She calls Jethalal "Tapu Ke Papa" as she, like many Indian housewife, thinks it is a sin to utter her husband's name. Jethalal often scolds her. Despite this, there is love and unity between the two main protagonists of this show. [7]

Jodhaa Akbar was an Indian epic historical drama film released on 15 February 2008. Disha played the role of Madhvi(friend of Jodhaa) in this movie.[7]
Devdas is a 2002 Bollywood novel adapted film based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novella Devdas. She played a small role of Sakhi in this movie.[7]
