Who is Mihir?

Very confused on Mihir's relation to the Bhalla Family! Isn't he Raman's business associate / employee? Then why does he need Raman's family's approval to marry Mihika?

It is not Raman's family's approval... I believe it is just Raman's approval as he sees big brother in him.
