Satyavati tries to prove herself to Shantanu by catching a fish. The people of Hastinapur are attacked by Rakshasas. Bhishma comes to save the people. Later Shantanu comes to know from Ganga that Bhishma is his son and accepts him. Satyavati comes to know about Bhishma and becomes furious. Shantanu leaves Satyavati as she is angry with the presence of Bhishma. Shantanu announces that Bhishma is the Prince of Hastinapur. Bhishma visits Satyavati to convince her to stay with Shantanu.

Bhishma takes an oath that he will step down from the throne, so that Satyavati can stay with Shantanu. Shantanu repents about the same and blesses Bhishma with powers. Later Vichitravirya is captured by the King of Panchal, for his misdeeds. Bhishma saves Vichitravirya from the King of Panchal. Queen Amba burns a field that comes in her way. Bhishma punishes Vichitravirya for his misdeeds but Satyavati interferes. Lord Krishna teaches a few human values.

Satyavati requests Bhishma not to be harsh with Vichitravirya. Later, she orders him to abduct the three daughters of King of Kashi, so that they can be married to Vichitravirya. Bhishma visits King of Kashi and asks him to hand over his three daughters to him, to get them married to Vichitravirya. King Salva challenges Bhishma but gets defeated. Amba wishes to marry King Salva. Bhishma takes the other two daughters with him. Amba storms to Hastinapur and orders Bhishma to marry her as King Salva had rejected her, since he had defeated King Salva.

Satyavati admits to Amba that she had sent Bhishma to abduct her. Amba seeks justice. She orders Bhishma to marry her but he refuses as he has taken an oath. Amba swears that she will take revenge on Bhishma. She seeks the help of Parashurama. He refuses her request as Bhishma is his most trusted pupil. A grand ceremony is held for Vichitravirya's coronation. During the ceremony, Vichitravirya feels uncomfortable and he starts bleeding.

Vichitravirya dies under mysterious circumstances. Bhishma questions Suryanarayan about Vichitravirya's death and accuses him of destroying his family. Satyavati promises Ambika and Ambalika that their sons will ascend the throne with the help of Vyasa. Amba gains the attention of Parashurama. Ambika and Ambalika give birth to boys. Ambika's son is found to be blind, which leaves her devastated. Bhishma consoles her. Amba strives to seek justice.

Ambika and Ambalika's sons are named Dhritarashtra and Pandu. Bhishma interferes and requests Satyavati to name Ambalika's other son also. Hence Ambalika's second son gets the name Vidura. Amba returns to Hastinapur and asks Bhishma to choose either marriage or death. She also tells that Parashurama has summoned him. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values. Bhishma meets Parashurama and tries to explain but Parashurama orders him to fight. The two fight rigorously.

Parashurama and Bhishma fight furiously. Ganga pleads with Lord Shiva to stop the war between the two. Lord Shiva intervenes between Parashurama and Bhishma. Amba seeks justice from Lord Shiva. She wishes for rebirth in order to take revenge on Bhishma. A girl is born to King Drupada and is named Shikhandini. King Drupada's father is happy that Shikhandini will take revenge on Bhishma. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values. King Subala decides to find a suitable groom for Gandhari. Subala comes to know that Gandhara will be attacked.

King Subala prepares his army for the attack. He gets to know that Bhishma is the one who is attacking Gandhara. Gandhari decides to join her father in the war. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values. King Subala is puzzled over Bhishma's visit. Bhishma seeks King Subala's friendship. Bhishma tells King Subala that he has a marriage proposal for Gandhari with Dhritarashtra. This worries King Subala, but Bhishma tries to convince him by offering Hastinapur. Gandhari feels happy about the proposal.

Dhritarashtra fights with elephants to show his strength and abilities. During the fight, Pandu helps him. This frustrates Dhritarashtra. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values. Vidura meets Dhritarashtra and Pandu and tells them that, only the righteous prince will be crowned the King of Hastinapur. This angers Dhritarashtra. Pandu convinces Dhritarashtra regarding Vidura's message. Dhritarashtra comes to know that he will be marrying Gandhari. King Subala fears that Shakuni may object to Gandhari's marriage.

Shakuni comes to know about Gandhari's marriage with Dhritarashtra. Bhishma tells Ambika to start preparations for Dhritarashtra's marriage. Dhritarashtra shares his desire to ascend the throne of Hastinapur with Pandu. Gandhari is happy to marry Dhritarashtra. Dhritarashtra tells Pandu that Gandhari will be his eyes and nothing more. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values. Shakuni becomes furious with King Subala's decision. Gandhari comes to know that Dhritarashtra is blind.

Gandhari becomes upset on learning about Dhritarashtra. Shakuni calls King Subala, a traitor. Shakuni tries to cancel the wedding but Gandhari stops him. She decides to marry Dhritarashtra. Shakuni tries to convince her, but in vain. Gandhari blows out all the lamps in her room, to adapt to her fear of darkness. Ambika tells Dhritarashtra that Gandhari is beautiful. Dhritarashtra becomes happy about the same. Gandhari decides to blindfold herself.

Gandhari takes an oath and blindfolds herself. Dhritarashtra looks forward to his wedding with Gandhari. Satyavati stops Gandhari from entering the wedding ceremony. She learns about Gandhari's oath and refuses to accept her. Dhritarashtra rejects Gandhari. Bhishma asks Gandhari, the reason for her decision. Gandhari explains and persuades them to accept her. Dhritarashtra marries Gandhari, for the welfare of Hastinapur. Gandhari requests her servant to remove all her jewellery. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values.

Bhishma repents about Gandhari's decision. Ganga convinces him. Dhritarashtra humiliates Gandhari and orders her to remove her blindfold but she hesitates. Dhritarashtra rejects Gandhari as his wife. Lord Krishna preaches a few human values. Bhishma tells Satyavati that Dhritarashtra is not capable of ruling Hastinapur but Satyavati is not convinced. Dhritarashtra envisions himself as the King of Hastinapur but Shakuni and Gandhari intervene, which angers him.

Dhritarashtra learns that he is going to be crowned the King of Hastinapur. Pandu and Vidura take oaths for their respective posts. Vidura stops Bhishma from handing over the throne to Dhritarastra. Vidura tells Amba that Dhritarashtra is not worthy of being a king. Shakuni argues but Bhishma retaliates. Dhritarashtra becomes upset on learning about the same. Pandu tries to convince Dhritarastra, but in vain. Dhritarashtra blames Pandu for framing him. Vidura advises Amba to crown Pandu as the King of Hastinapur.

Dhritarashtra becomes furious at Gandhari and refuses to speak with her. Pandu informs Bhishma that he does not want to become the King of Hastinapur. Dhritarashtra becomes furious at Pandu for conspiring against him to become the King of Hastinapur. On Bhishma's advice, Pandu becomes the King of Hastinapur. Shakuni is angry with Bhishma for the same. He informs King Subala that he will stay in Hastinapur. Shakuni provokes Dhritarashtra against his family.

Pandu informs Dhritarashtra that he has decided to give him the post of advisor of the King. Dhritarashtra becomes enraged and refuses to accept the post. Pandu informs Dhritarashtra that he will prove his ability as the King. Satyavati informs Bhishma that she suspects about Shakuni provoking Dhritarashtra. Bhishma advices Satyavati to get Pandu married. Kuntibhoj informs Kunti that he has organised a Swayamwar for her. Vidura informs Satyavati about the invitation from Kuntibhoj.

Kunti recalls about the boon she got from Rishi Durvasa. Suryadev blesses Kunti with a baby boy. As Kunti is unmarried, she leaves the baby in a river. Suryadev gives Kavacha and Kundal to the baby. He assures Kunti that he will protect the baby and names him as Karna. Priyamvada tries to console Kunti. Kuntibhoj informs the Kings that the one who answers Kunti's question will be her husband. Pandu answers Kunti's question. Kunti gets married to Pandu.

Dhritarashtra praises the food prepared by Gandhari. He becomes enraged at Gandhari when she tries to advise him. Gandhari tries to prove her innocence to Dhritarashtra. Later, Dhritarashtra asks Gandhari not to welcome Pandu and Kunti. Priyamvada asks Kunti to hide about her past from Pandu. Karna saves a child. Radha informs Karna about Pandu and Kunti's arrival to Hastinapur. Vidura welcomes Pandu and Kunti.

Karna requests his father to allow him to welcome Pandu and Kunti, but he refuses. Shakuni informs Dhritarashtra that Pandu has returned to Hastinapur after getting married to Kunti. Gandhari welcomes Pandu and Kunti. Shakuni becomes furious at Pandu and provokes Dhritarashtra against him. He pretends to take care of Pandu in front of Dhritarashtra. Kunti decides to reveal the truth about her past to Pandu. Karna informs his father that King Pandu will reward him after seeing his art of archery.

Karna throws his bow and arrow into the river to please his father. Pandu praises Kunti for asking the right question in her Swayamwar. Satyavati tries to stop Pandu from going for a war. Pandu informs Satyavati that he will not change his decision. Bhishma informs Pandu that he will lead the war. Dhritarashtra suggests Bhishma that Pandu has to take the lead. Pandu informs Kunti about the war and leaves Hastinapur. Gandhari tries to console Kunti. Kunti apologises to Gandhari for her behaviour.

There are two scenes which are equally important.
The first scene where Bhishma takes oath that he would never marry in his entire life and that he would work as a slave of Hastinapur rather than the king just because his father love of life Satyavati refused to come with his father in the kingdom demanding that what will their heir gain if bhishma gets the kingdom. Hearing this his father breaks each and every relation with satyavati and goes into a shell. Bhishma just to save his fathers life who was gone into a depression took this oath.
Another scene was the scene when Amba comes rejected from king of salya to hastinapur. It was when Satyavati putra (son) Vichitya Vir was about to get crowned. Amba stated that as she has been rejected by the man she was in love with just because he lost her against Bhishma, Amba demanded bhishma to get married to her and accept her as a wife. but bhishma who was bounded by his own oath couldnot marry her and rejected her. Amba took oath to destroy Bhishma and proceeds to meet Bhishma's guru Parshurama to find justice.

Dialogue By Amba

Athak Parishram aur Drith Vishwaas se sab sambhav hai

Yaad karo jab Ravan ki mrityu Aai thi to Samudra ne Pathar Tera diye the

Dialogue by Gandhari- Dhritrashtra

Gandhaari- Pathar stamb main lage ya kalash pe hota too wo mandir ke liye hi hai

Dhritrashtra: Kintu jo pathar stamb ke liye nirmit ho wo yadi kalash pe lag jaye to acha nahi lagta

Gandhari- Kaun sa pathar stamb ke liye hai aur kaun sa kalash ke liye ye to mandir ka nirmankarta hi batta sakta hai

Dialogue by Kunti

Jis prakar jal par bhavan nahi banaya ja sakta ussi prakar jal par jeevan bhi nahi racha ja sakta

Dialogue by Krishna

Ham apne aaj ke nirnay dusron se paramarsh le kar karte hain, aur inhi nirnayon par hamara bhavishya nirmit hota hai. To kya hamara bhavishya dusro ke nirnayon par aadharit hona chahiye

Vichar keejiye

Bheeshma nd Hastinapur

He the righteous heir of Hastinapur whose each and every decision became a part of history. The person who gave up all his rights for fulfilling his father's wish. None can replace his place in the whole story of Mahbharat. Even after giving up his rights he never allowed a wrong decision to be taken in hastinapur. He became support system to Satyavati and a protector to the royal throne in absence of rulers. Though he hold no high status in the kingdom of hastinapur he was top to all.. As pitamah to Dhritrashtra and Pandu he tried his best to bring them up with all good qualities in them. His family was the topper most priority to him irrespective of right and wrong.

Bheeshma and Vichitraveer

Bheeshma tried his level best to protect and correct Vichitraveer making him capable of managing the throne even after realising that he would never be a good ruler. He upheld the promise given to Satyavati that it would be her son who would sit at throne of hastinapur. Even after Vichitraveer's death Bheeshma stood as protector to Hastinapur Kingdom waiting for Vichitraveer's son to become capable of Managing throne

Bheeshma and Amba,

Truth should always be protected. Realising that he unknowingly became the reason of Amba's misfortune, he was always ready to help her, but Amba who was all in anger never gave an ear to Bhesshma. It was him who send her to Parshuram, saying that Truth should always be protected. He knew it was only Parshuram who would question him, defeat him, still not thinking for a second he guided amba to her destination without any fear or disgrace. He was always a man who respected women

Bheeshma and Vidur

Bheeshma was always against crowning Dhritrashtra but then unable to correct Satyavati himself, he did his work with the help of Vidur- who used to be his greatest disciple. His gyan to Vidur that ..when it comes to choose between Truth and family, one should choose the truth, though it will bring fury at beginning, at the end it shall only be truth that will be upheld and praised changed the whole history of Hastinapur.

It was a toss up between the two characters who were shown negative in this version!! d although I am not a big fan of Ratan, Hats off to the two ladies for holding on their own in amidst such a powerful cast!! Sayatani was almost a discovery, with her shrewd and selfish Character portrayal, and Ratan was perfect as the fiery, avenging and stubborn Amba. Satyavati's character, inspite of portryaed as completely different by CVs in here...Sayantani held up her own ...and Ratan, inspite of her small frame was a tough challenge to the tall and powerful Bheeshma!!!

The serial's best point is its cinematography and there are SO many...I loved the one showing the whole shot of the Durbaar...When Bheeshma was to be crowned...Shantanu's walk towards his son, actually showed us every detail of the Durbaar...and so did Amba's advent...Ganga's personification from the water was also beautifully done!!! Althought the most beautiful was when Satyavati entered the chamber of Ambika and Ambilika after Vichitravirya's death...the light in the room was so beautifully captured...with only moonlight streaming in and throwing light on Satyavati as the other two sat in darknes..Symbolic as well as beautiful!!!

Beeshm pratigya is the best emotional moment for this month, devrath taken the pratigya out of luv for his father, he can't see his father in pain, he dnt care abt himself, or throne, he think abt his father only... A selfless emotional moment πŸ‘

"Devrath calls devi ganga to be present as proof of his pledge, he cuts his hand n the blood drops in the river n the water explods, dark clouds gathers, satyawati was amazed, devrath takes the pledge that he'll secure the future of her sons, he'll make sure that they sit on the throne n for this he'll not marry, he'll follow brahmacharya for lifetime, satyawati was shocked, shantanu reached thr n was shocked n hurt, he ask devrath y he has taken such strong pledge, how will he pay for this favour, devrath says its his duty. Shantanu ask devrath to ask one wish n he ask to grant him wish that until thr's not establishment of peace n justice on the throne of hastinapur, he'll not get death, shantanu bless him with the wish of "iccha martyu", he'll not die until he want to, he'll choose the person who'll kill him, n for this pledge he'll be designated as "bheeshm" in future."

Arghh..And Uff..Satyavati and her poochpooching her piyakkad son! And what was that!! Bheeshma standing with folded hands as SAtyavati pampered and mollycoddled her son who was not able to stand on his two feet!! The scene not only destroyed Bheeshma's picture of being the head of the family but also showed Satyavati as a reason why the rest of her clan was not as powerful. The CVs so messed it up...and showed the woman who gave birth to Maharishi Ved Vyas in a truly irritating avatar!!!

One of the highlights of Mahabharata is Kanha ji's gyan, which like prasad stays with us.
The gyan is eternal and true even today.
Every episode leaves us with a learning that is life defining, but if I were to pick the ONE learning from
beginning to now it would have to be :

Manushya ko kabhi bhi samay se pehle aur bhagya se adhik kuch bhi prapt nahi hota!
Aur bhagya nirdharit hota hai hamare karma se
Aur karma nirdharit hota hai hamare udeshya se!
Aur jab uddeshya main khot ho, toh phal kabhi meetha nahi hota

nothing ever comes to man before time or beyond fate
And fate is determined by karma
And karma is determined not by action, but by intention
And if the intent is wrong, the fruits of our actions can never be sweet
A simple truth of life, the rewards of life are based on not what we portray through our acts, but what we believe in with our hearts
And we each will get what we deserve in our own time!

The abduction of the Kashi princesses, and the characterization of not just Amba, but also what constitutes a swayamvara. You'd think that a swayamvara is a ceremony in which princesses simply choose their future hubby, right?

You'd think wrong, according to ⭐️+'s Bheeshma. In ⭐️+, a princess is supposed to come out w/ a blank slate of mind, and there may be a competition for her hand, even if the king & the organizers of the swayamvara didn't plan that. What if the princess already had in mind one of the guests that she wanted to marry, and then got abducted by someone who thought that princesses just existed to be abducted for the gratification of his step-brother? Whose fault would it be?

It would be that of the princess, of course, according to this track. In their attempt to whitewash Bheeshma, Amba was turned into the princess who was just out there to sabotage Bheeshma, who merely wanted to humiliate her father & force her & her sisters into marrying his step-brother, who either wasn't invited, or wasn't capable of attending it himself. How dare she stand in his way? Oh, and why was this 'swayamvara' needed? According to ⭐️+, so that the king could ascend the throne. Never mind that unmarried princes could always ascend a throne & marry later.

Easily takes the cake for the Satyanash track of the month!

The twist in the tale started right from the opening scene, w/ Santanu & Satyavati out on a rowing date πŸ˜† Not just that - Satyavati didn't seem to have a father - Santanu proposed, and it was simply up to her whether to accept or not.

Not just that, but for a 'true love', she sure had a lot of preconditions for the marriage to happen - Devrath has to step down from being yuvraj and swear to be a bachelor. Also, while Santanu was overjoyed @ Devrath's return, Satyavati was morose at the news. Somehow, the sauce for the goose turned out to be mustard for the gander.

Oh, and the icing on the cake? Satyavati, a fisherwoman, becomes the matriarch, and orders her adopted son to go around abducting or arm-twisting princesses to be willing brides to her unworthy son & grandson. And then going on to disdain a grandon born of a maid, but to her own first-born, as well as judging on the worth of princesses who marry into this family.

Quite a change from the original Satyavati, who played no role beyond merely rubber-stamping Bheeshma's decisions. Wonder whether she'll remain after the death of Pandu - her potential seems limitless πŸ˜†

Dhritrashtra ...

Born to Ambika the wife of Vichitraveer he was the first child of the family tree.
Being the elder son of Hastinapur, he was always the righteous throne of crown but then his blindness always stood as an Hindrance to his wish and rights. He was ambitious towards throne for sure but then it never created enemity between brothers. In the show Dhritrashtra is shown as a Prince who is so much desperate to become king that on the process he consider his to be wife Gandhari as a mere step to reach the royal throne. Dhritrashtra is portrayed as a very much mean prince who is easily affected by his cunning Brother in Law Shakuni making him go against his own family. Further more even now he sees Gandhari as a person who can give 100 son to hastinapur thereby helping him reach throne. The whole show Portrays Dhritrashtra as a person thriving for throne and nothing else. The character of Dhritrashtra is surely butchered by the makers.

So people who know me, know that I have a bad sense of humour and absolute Thenga knowledge of scriptures...So here I am...to make the mess of the aforesaid wonderful knowledge and contributions of the Volunteers and have come with Shaitani dimaag like Shakuni'sπŸ˜†

haha, So Basically this section includes few things that could not be included in the above sections...and some random mumblings...
Beginning with the beginning...Satyavati and Shantanu sitting like love birds😲 I was just wondering that even in this age, if lovebirds sit in the gardens like this, the chawkidars give them a big belting and shoo them away, and here...the legendary characters are sitting doing kuchikoo and nobody bothers to disturb them...Naturally since the CVs did away with the father of Satyavati who was considered to be the main reason for Bheeshma Pratigya...there was no one to watch over themπŸ˜†

Mahabharat had some awesome and some really weird entry of the characters but In all the above brouhaha we forgot to acknowledge the entry of one Dhansoo actor!! Punit Issar...who gave us the reminiscence of the Older version...As he made his entry as Parshuram!! Right from the moment he came along With gravity defying stones and magically self-building Shiv Mandir...And to the fight he had with Bheeshma...he was fabulous!!! πŸ‘

Not to mention the legendary kick that Shakuni gave to his man while hiking on the mountainsπŸ˜• and Amba burning the fields to meet her love!! The CVs had a penchant for weird entries it seemed!!! But the Cake must be given to Karna's entry...The little Karna not only looks like his onscreen mother but manages to follow her around...
I always believe that Mahabharat is the mother of all filmy lost and found films ..but the way CVs are bent on making it more filmy, I wont be surprised if they show Karna playing with Pandavas in Gurukul or Eklavya having plastic surgery and look alike Arjuna to gain knowledge from DronaπŸ˜•

Great first newsletter. Well done guys ! πŸ‘

All the gyaans given by Krishna are good. But, the one selected as the best is awesome. Just loved it.πŸ‘

Dhriti is irritaing character ? I am loving the way they are showing Dhriti 😳 although I didn't like that they showed they married Gandhari only for satta. I slightly disagree that Dhriti's character has been butchered.

Congrats to all the winners. The winner avi is from which scene ? I don't rememebr seeing that scene..
Irritating scene πŸ‘πŸΌ.. Don't like the way they are showing Satyavati controlling Bheesma.
