Indirectly he meant that Gandhari's decision was totally wrong. She should have not blindfold herself and instead she should have advised Dritrast and her kids in a right path, but since she blindfold herself, she was unable to guide them in the right direction.
But he said, that when you take decision you have to take it when you are calm, if you try and take decision to calm yourself, then it will be not worth it in the end. Gandhari just did it to calm herself, which will be troublemaking in the future.

Blindfolding to cover her eyes is not going to prevent her from giving advice. Wisdom always remains irrespective is whether one can see or not. Even Dhritarshtra is blind but he knows what's happening around him. He didn't see Draupadi vastra haran directly but he knew it was happening...and should have stopped his sons.

This 'aankhon par Patti' dialogue was used innumerable times in BR Mah but they don't mean just covering the eyes. They mean turning blind to facts and dharma.

I was confused with what Krishna said too. Merely covering her eyes is Gandhari's personal choice. From what I have seen and read,.she was a wise woman who tried to put sense into Dhitarashtra's head, but he never listened to her sound advise. She knew her own son was on the wrong path so she never directly blessed him saying 'vijayi Bhav'.

In this great epic- blind has its own symbolism- like being blind by ambition (Duryodhan), or blind by love for his son (Dhritarashtra), etc

No Krishna was saying that Gandhari was right. She did not wanted to change her husband rather she changed herself to fit her husband. It was Dhritarashtra who took decision in anger and for his own selfish reason. He was the one who failed to accept others and tried to change everything according to his own desire. That's why the struggle begin for him and ended in his and his son,s destruction.

Agree with you. Dhritrashtra was a weakling and he never had the courage to differentiate between right and wrong. He wanted everyone to follow him and not go against him.Shakuni knew this quite well and he used him for his own selfish reasons and in the bargain Dhritrashtra and Duryodhan too lost everything.

I think Krishna is not saying Gandhari is wrong. Nor is he saying that she is right. Same for Dhridhrashtra,..

His saying is just an advice.. Make any decision, not when you are in the flood of emotions and cannot think clearly. Decisions should be made with some foresight and not only to make the current situation well..

Now would Gandhari's decision not to blindfold made any change in the way Mahabharath went? One cannot know. Nor can we know what would have happened if Dhridhrashtra had not been so emotional and weak..

That is something we are left to contemplate with..😊
