Raj Premi roped in to essay Kalyavan in Star Plus' Mahabharat
Talented actor Raj Premi - who is popular even today for playing the role of Kansa in Colors' Jai Shri Krishna - will essay an important cameo in Swastik Productions' Mahabharat for Star Plus.
Premi has been earlier seen in serials like Chandragupta Maurya, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Maati Ki Banno, Jai Shri Krishna, among many others.
In Mahabharat, he has been roped in to play the role of Kalyavan, the King of the Yavan kingdom who wanted to conquer Mathura. The character of Kalyavan is famous as he only person that Krishna could not kill directly. Instead, when Krishna faced Kalyavan in the battle-field, the former ran away so that he could kill Kalyavan by deceit. Later on, Krishna lured Kalyavan to enter a cave where Muchukund was sleeping. When Kalyavan woke him up from his deep sleep, Muchukund opened his eyes and burned Kalyavan to ashes.
When contacted, Raj Premi confirmed the news saying, "Yes, I will be playing the role of Kalyavan in Mahabharat. I know the character very well; and this comes after I played Kansa in Jai Shri Krishna. Though I have not started shoot yet, I have been told that I will be needed for a small cameo."
