Anup Jalota (TOI Photo)The IPL may have come to an end, but even as the semi-final between Team Mohali and Team Chennai was being played at the Wankhede, another cricket match was being played in Bandra, between celebrities from all walks of life.
This one had no trophy, it, however, it was rewarding in the fact that it was played for a good cause: to spread awareness against tobacco and smoking, on World No-Tobacco Day. Hosted by the Cancer Patients Aid Association, this match was just as exciting, with Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and S Sreesanth lookalikes wearing the Team India uniform and cheering on from the crowds.
From minister Anil Deshmukh to singer Anup Jalota to TV actor Sameer Dharmadhikari to actor Mukesh Tiwari, these teams were a mixed bag of people. The game was interesting, no doubt, but what was also worth hearing were the warnings the 'cricketers' gave on the perils of smoking.
Y K Sapru of the CPAA, presided over the full-day event, and was mighty pleased at this 'match' made in heaven!
