Sorry to ask, but are you guys like a modern family back home? By which I mean no hijab, etc.

Because my family back home are the world's biggest hypocrites. Half wear a dupatta half don't.
But just because I wear pants with a hijab, i'm apparently the most spoiled, stuck up, shameless and ill-mannered person is what I get. However, if I wear shalwar kameez and a dupatta I'm fine.

I remember my dupatta fell off once, and I put it back on, so my cousins like to me dupatta utaro.. Isse pehne ki kya zaroorat hai?

Sana, aaj kal to dupatte don't even exist anymore -_- Plus, you're right..pants+kameez is absolutely fine as long as it covers all the areas needed to be covered + hijab which is great, mA. Shalwar kameez is the culture...ab Saudi mein chale jao, they wouldn't wear shalwar kameez, so are they stuck up too? I really dislike the mix-up between culture and religion back home... The one thing I love about living here is that religion always comes before culture Alhamdulillah, which is exactly how it should be..

They are pretty modern Sana, dressing wise etc. So they expect the same especially from family living outside Pak. They scrutinise everyone so intensely from what they're wearing to what designer bags they're carrying, to the cut / embroidery of their shirt, superficial to the core.

^ my mom thinks just the same. I wouldn't wanna take the liberty of putting everything on people since I don't consider myself good or anything..BUT yes, fact stays true: logon ke apne gunahon ki wajah se hi mulk mein tabahi aati hai..

I get it Naj 😆 Recently meeting the same superficial people myself.. Won't go there 😆
But at the same time, when I see the kind of clothes the elder generations wear, the kind of mannerisms they pass on, you really just pity the younger one's because of the horrible upbringing.

Guys I think we should open a seperate topic/discussion about this instead of here.. This is my favourite topic of discussion.. Religion vs. Culture 😆

People buy one kameez for 25,000.. I can get 5 in the same price which are better quality..
It's not that I hate the designer. But just about valuing and respecting how hard you earn the money.
Over there they don't strive hard.. Mil jaata hai.

yea but isnt it like that in our religion? like i know tht women are given equal rights n all that..but whn it comes to freedom n dominance, usually men have that more..

Nowhere in Islam does it tell men to go and socialise/flirt with other women and put restrictions on his own wife.
