In his acting debut Vicky Donor, Ayushmann played a happy-go-lucky youngster, who becomes a sperm donor to earn some quick money. The actor says he wants to stick to realistic roles in commercial cinema. "The line between commercial and realistic cinema is getting blurred. In the commercial space, if you do realistic roles, it will be credible. The best example is Ranbir Kapoor who did Barfi! and Rockstar," he said.
Ayushmann began his tryst with showbiz with MTV's Roadies. The 28-year-old says it is now easier for people to make a transition from TV to films. "It is easy nowadays to make a transition from TV to films. I always say that this is the golden age of Indian cinema, where all kinds of cinema is working and every talented person is getting an opportunity. I guess this is the right time to be an actor," he said.
Vicky Donor, even with its unique subject, did well at the box office — something that Ayushmann had not expected. "I always wanted to be an actor and make it big on the big screen. I never thought that the film would do well. I think it is overwhelming," he said.
