I think writers need to get a bit more creative and channels/production houses need to stop their group bandi. I just wish to see creativity and not the usual, typical stuff we always see these days.
Firstly, we're adapting too many novels. A lot of these novels are the same story just written differently by different writers. Most of these novels have targeted women, and we all know what that storyline looks like. Not every drama will get the same response as Humsafar where you have an average story yet good presentation and it clicked. I can't think of many dramas off the top of my head that had that fortune. People will get sick and tired, and then they start resorting to foreign stuff which offers something they're not used to seeing.
Secondly, I've noticed some of my most fav dramas are those that are a,) not based on a novel..or b.) have a different storyline. For example, I love Daam & Malal..both written by Umera..their stories were different and Umera wrote them so well. Not only did I like those dramas, so many others did too. So, why waste a writer like Umera by only asking her to rearrange her novels into screenplays? Even a writer like Umera won't offer much anymore at this rate since eventually, novels can only offer so much and every writer has their own niche..which can be repetitive.
Also, this whole thing where ARY works with only a certain group of people..while Hum works with another group etc is also such bs. These channels need to work with anyone and everyone who is competent enough to show their talent. I'm sick of seeing the same people on ARY 24/7 and then certain actors and actresses only working for Hum..while another group is limited to Geo. I feel that's hindering so much in our television industry.
