We have all loved watching Pakistani Dramas since our childhood, Dramas like Alpha Bravo Charlie, Ainak wala Jin, Dhuaan, Mehndi and many more have ruled our hearts in the PTV era. More recently we have again seen great dramas like MZZBN, Daam, Dastaan, Humsafar, Maat , Qaid e tanhai and MAQH etc. These dramas have revived the essence of the Pakistani Dramas and have covered a whole range of subjects. But of late I have also seen that if some drama is a hit then everyone starts copying the same story e.g. Maat has been done to death. Another thing that I see is an evil Saas from Humsafar to IK Tamana Lahasil si /Daagh etc apart from this second marriage, divorce and abortion are also getting very common.
I believe that we need some change in themes and more variety, If all dramas are good but same I can't enjoy it. Personally I would like to see some romantic light hearted shows, more positivity than the depressing stuff, shows that give inspiration like the good old PTV times.
What do you guys wish to see in Pakistani Dramas?

Light-hearted shows is definitly number one. Some nice positive feel good stuff.
Whether it's about friends, (not the wannabe rich type), family relations or the importance of family, stuff like that.

I LOVE Multi-starrers.

I mean dramas like Dil Deke Jayein Gein, Woh Rishtay Woh Naatey, Hum Se Juda Na Hona had average stories but there were so many people that I enjoyedd watching em.

And then of-course there's Mehndi.

Sick and tired of seeing the same rona dhona and sister crapp.

I only watch TNS or the Baraat series because of the humor and non-seriousness. I already have so much drama in my life don't need to see more.

My Ultimate Wish is though to see a drama shot in Toronto with my favourite actors.
If they can do NYC or Florida why not here?
We have a HUGEE desi community.

humsafar wasn't a unique story
n its a huge hit
so basically the thing matters is not the storyline but the execution n overall presentation of the play

I think for certain plays story matters more than execution and presentatiom while for some it's the opposite.
There's been so many plays in which the story is so good but because the presentation/execution is so bad you end up not watching itt.

I think writers need to get a bit more creative and channels/production houses need to stop their group bandi. I just wish to see creativity and not the usual, typical stuff we always see these days.

Firstly, we're adapting too many novels. A lot of these novels are the same story just written differently by different writers. Most of these novels have targeted women, and we all know what that storyline looks like. Not every drama will get the same response as Humsafar where you have an average story yet good presentation and it clicked. I can't think of many dramas off the top of my head that had that fortune. People will get sick and tired, and then they start resorting to foreign stuff which offers something they're not used to seeing.

Secondly, I've noticed some of my most fav dramas are those that are a,) not based on a novel..or b.) have a different storyline. For example, I love Daam & Malal..both written by Umera..their stories were different and Umera wrote them so well. Not only did I like those dramas, so many others did too. So, why waste a writer like Umera by only asking her to rearrange her novels into screenplays? Even a writer like Umera won't offer much anymore at this rate since eventually, novels can only offer so much and every writer has their own niche..which can be repetitive.

Also, this whole thing where ARY works with only a certain group of people..while Hum works with another group etc is also such bs. These channels need to work with anyone and everyone who is competent enough to show their talent. I'm sick of seeing the same people on ARY 24/7 and then certain actors and actresses only working for Hum..while another group is limited to Geo. I feel that's hindering so much in our television industry.

I think Bari Aapa's fantastic. Brilliant actors with a tight bound script and a dedicated director. Is that too much to ask for?
