~Guns and Roses: A Dangerous Game~
-PREFACE TO
THE FF-
Both felt a
strange sense of foreboding as he drove the car at the highest speed possible
through the sleeping Delhi's streets under the moonlight. He could sense waves
of anxiety, anger and guilt emanating from his younger brother, sitting
restlessly.
Both the brothers were feeling a sense of deja vu...
"Faster Bhai! Faster...! Time is running up!" Arnav panicked.
Akash told his younger brother to calm down... that they will reach in
time...
"No we
won't Bhai... I don't want to lose Kiara like you lost Bhabhi..."
Arnav said coldly.
Akash flinched. He could not even see her when she had died... Work kept
him away from her for the last five years. Work... *sigh*
Arnav felt anxiety
engulf him. He knew his words had hurt his elder brother, but it was a fact.
And-
He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the car screech to
halt.
Arnav got off the car in a hurry, and his eyes were meant shock.
In the
distance, he could see three people... One silhouette of his one and ONLY love... HER silhouette...he
could recognise anywhere, crouching alertly behind a crate. Even his heart told
him. As he rushed to
help her, he heard a gunshot. He watched in horror as her body fell to the
ground, limp. Meanwhile, thetwo previous assailants had been finished by
Akash.
Akash saw
his brother's shoulders sag down as he carried her to the car for a check up to
the hospital. He saw something drop out of her hand... His eyes widened. THE
BLACK FILE! Akash's throat constricted, as he bent to pick up the file.
Arnav was
oblivious to Akash; his eyes were only for her... He could feel her faint
heartbeat...
As he
watched Arnav cradling her in his lap, in the backseat of the car.
He tapped Arnav's shoulder.
"Ya Bhai?"
Arnav asked, still holding her head.
"She managed to get it..."
Akash said, choking back tears.
Arnav was
shocked... He said nothing, and just looked at her, waiting for eyes to open.
"I'm right
here..." he said cajolingly. "Hold on K-Kiara!"
"N-No Arnav. Fate would never
let us be together..." she said slowly, each syllable filled with pain.
"I don't
give a damn about faith Kiara! You have to make it! FOR ME! For little Ri-Ritu!"
Arnav said.
"Take care
of her..." she trailed off, as her eyelids drooped shut slowly.
Arnav sat rigidly where he
was, not uttering a single word.
Akash had
flashed of his wife's image in his eyes, as the words of his promise echoed in
his head. Tears blurred his vision as he looked at his little brother and was
reminded of how he had promised his mother to take care of him...
