Welcome To The Director's Cut

Kyu dard hai.. itna... tere ishq mein...

"unn sawaalo key jawaab dhoond raha tha, jo ab tak miley nahi hai"

"khushi, mujhe jab tumse pyaar hua tha, toh main ye nahi jaanta tha ki hum sab ke past aise jodey huey hain"

"yeh bhi nai pata tha ki jis past sey main aaj tak bhaagta aaya hu.. meri shaadi key din.. iss tarah mere samney aayega"

This is one of those times where i want to be proved wrong...
I don't want to jump the gun and predict... but the above lines were not said by Arnav to his Khushi... he was ASR tonight..
Yes there is a hurt , lost little boy somewhere inside ... but those eyes where not full of grief or apology that he stood her up...
it was full of a different emotion...

it broke my heart when she reaches out to him.. n he moves backwards... she forgot that she was kept waiting n humiliated.. her only thought was him... she wanted to reach out.. and make sure that he is fine..

WILL WE WITNESS IT YET AGAIN? WE LL VE TO WAIT N WATCH...

Hey guys!! i heard that u all were missing me a lot!! sorry.. i was on a holiday... just like shyamji's planning has come to a full stop right now... n he is turning into Akash part 2.. i couldnt bear to pen down my deep thoughts..
i wanted to make a come back only after i get 3 twitching smiles from shyamji... n atleast a monologue!!
which i was lucky enough to get today!!😳😳😳
so here is my rant!!

1. shaadi hogi aur zarror hogi!! dont ask me if its a hate shaadi 360!! don't believe me? just check the scene where garima cries"kahan ja rahi ho bachchi!!" n khushi turns back bham!!... she is wearing her mangalsutra!! dont tell me its a blooper!! 😕😕
there are no such things as bloopers in ipk ...😉

2.How come Ratna taught so many great things to a small arnav... n nothing to the teenager? all the love was in bachpan only kya??? n where is anji??? humaari mamma.. is teaching stuff to chottey.. anji where are u?

3. arnavji no wonder u had an accident!! ur flashbacks were so huge in size that it was covering the entire front glass of ur car!! we also couldnt see the road at all, so its definitely not ur mistake!!

4. what kind of pyjama/jeans/ is this? he looks like a patrakar from dainik jaagran from the 1970's!! just give him one of those khushi type jholas(bags)!!

5. Yeh summi kaha bhag gaye??? did someone drop her home? or she took a ride back home in that saji dhaji car?
old woman on the streets .. alone at nyt in delhi!!
n nobody is even bothered about her!!😡

6. my NK cried today!! cant bear to see tears in his eyes!!😭

7. mamiji.. you should work on your voice modulation!! and whats with this gujrati get up?? please go back to your asian paints range ...we are atleast used to that!!😕

8. so akash goes back to statue mode again!! someone please say over!!

i felt it was for me... whenever u look at the camera directly.. i feel u are talking to me..

Dear Fellow viewer & reader, welcome to yet another edition of DC ..tonite we got a full lenght commercial movie .. all wrapped up in 18 mins of IPK .. stunned does not begin to describe what i felt .. lalit .. dude .. so much excellence .. 3rd day in a row .. bravo to you But tonite .. is the nite for Sanaya Irani .. i am stunned .. & in love .. her brilliance was felt in every frame she was present in tonite .. but .. for me .. the moment which will stay for posterity will be her last expression .. when Arnav tells her .. about the hate in him .. that expression said it all .. kudos sanaya .. seriously tonite was ur nite .. every fan of Sanaya will bookmark this one .. as her day in IPK ...

Ratna was gardening .. when a thorn in a rose plant pricked her .. she bled .. a small arnav came running to her .. noticed the drop of blood .. & saw red .. he threw the pot of plant on the ground .. crushing it .. crushing the source of pain to his mom ..

Ratna bent down .. & explained to Arnav .. the rose was but a bud .. had not even flowered as yet .. & he shud not crush the Bud ..but give it the love .. nurture it .. a belligerent arnav says .. how can he love anything which has hurt his mother ..

Ratna gently tells him .. love needs to be nurtured .. there are so many times .. we dont know the real reason .. the difference between right & wrong .. but the one thing one shud know is .. "never hurt some u love .. or someone who loves you" The fault was of the "thorn" but u punished the " "rose" ... & while hurting the rose .. u got urself hurt as well ...but arnav says ... i will never forgive anyone who hurts you ...

Please Pause here ...

this whole scene was brilliantly conceptualised .. brilliantly well written .. brilliantly well penned dialogues .. & brilliantly executed ..

this scene had so many meanings that when i sat to write i was wondering if i will be able to do justice to the thot .. but to fully appreciate the meaning of this episode & this scene .. please link this scene to the last dialogue .. thats what i will do for you tonite .. what transpired in between was fairly regular bollywood flick .. but the message of the episode .. the message of the future track was in this 2 scenes ..

A mother .. tells her son .. nurture ur love .. a love which is innocent as innocent as a rose .. ( hope all got the reason why the rose was used ) .. the mother reprimands her son .. for trying to crush the love .. which was just starting to bud ..just starting to flower .. let it grow is what she preaches to her son ..

A mother tells her son .. do not jump to conclusions .. do not pass judgement before knowing the real culprit .. she tells him .. know the difference between right & wrong before u jump to conclusions ..

A mother tells her son .. never hurt anyone who u love .. & who loves u back .. cause when u hurt the one u love .. u get hurt too .. love needs to be nurtured not crushed ..

A son tells his mother admantly ... i can never love someone who hurts you ... i can never forgive some one who hurts you ..

a seemingly simple scene .. of a mother guiding her son . now in context of today this fits in so perfectly ...

yes arnav was trying to crush his budding love for Khushi .. the love which was just flowering between the two .. a love which needed nurturing ... yes arnav was "punishing " khushi .. by leaving her waiting for him at the altar .. but was it her fault .. it was "garima's" fault this time for which Khushi was bearing the brunt .. once again .. arnav was jumping to conclusion & pronouncing judgement .. once again .. what he saw was what was shown to him .. in the form of a picture .. but the reality of the matter was different .. the result he hurt himself by hurting khushi .. ..

this whole scene was brilliantly conceptualised .. brilliantly well written .. brilliantly well penned dialogues .. & brilliantly executed ..

A mother tells her son .. never hurt anyone who u love .. & who loves u back .. cause when u hurt the one u love .. u get hurt too .. love needs to be nurtured not crushed ..

Ok .. now lets link this to another incident of the past .. the first shaadi .. of arnav & khushi ...

at that time .. arnav had crushed his budding love for Khushi .. coz he belived in what he was shown .. a love then which needed nurturing was crushed by him .. he punished Khushi .. by forcefully marrying her & then being cruel to her .. at that time too .. he punished khushi for a crime not committed by her .. he passed judgement without knowing the whole truth .. the result .. he hurt himself .. by hurting khushi ...

Ok i know how most of u guys always want me to predict .. na na na i wont today as well .. but i will leave a gem of a hint for you guys .. a hint i had given a long time back ..

Now as i was getting lost in this Rabba Vey moment .. the only thot ( i mean sometimes in gutter also thots pop) .. was why is the maker .. constantly bringing it out .. that all these RASAMS have been done in the past ..

first of all a round of applause for Ritesh & Hitesh brilliantly well penned dialogues .. this scene has to be seen with the above scene to understand its meaning & its impact ...

Ok .. i know u guys will be angry with me for this .. but i am not going to give any explanation of the first 2 lines of this dialogue .. since its impact & meaning is not for now .. pls bookmark .. will return to this when time comes ..

The word shaadi .. ever wondered why arnav hated the word shaadi . was he a typical mills & boons hero .. who when he saw an adultrer father was put off marriage for good ?? or did he always associate the word marriage to his mother's death .. the death of his dreams .. the death of his love ...

once again at a time of a shaadi .. his shaadi .. he is seeing death .. death of his dreams ..death of his love ... a love which he will have to kill .. a dream which is now lying crushed .. he tells her he dint know their pasts were linked ... & that the past will come knock him down .. but .. my question to u arnav .. this is the woman u fell in love with .. when u thot she ruined ur sisters life .. by being the other woman .. now this time around .. u know she is innocent of any ill .. & u know how deeply u love .. will this love .. ever die .. will u ever be able to NOT fall in LOVE with her ... Love like this is a gift .. a gift even if u want u cant give up ..

another time .. arnav made a promise to Khushi .. mein aur tum always .. a promise which he wanted to stand by .. a promise which was his bond to her .. its this promise that made this man stand in front of her tonite .. yes .. when he ranted at the skies . when he broke those benches .. when his soul cried out her name .. he knew .. there was a force pulling her away from him ... he knew the darkness was engulfing him ... he knew the embers of his past will burn arnav .. & from the ashes .. ASR will rise .. a man filled with hatred .. but a man who lives by his commitment ..

he had wronged Khushi .. not once but many a times .. he had punished her for a crime she did not commit .. he could'nt countenance this a second time ..

jahan dard, dhoka aur nafrat ke alawa kuch nahin hai "

today their love is surrounded by .. pain .. by betrayal .. by hatred .. the today .. their love is over shadowed by the pain of a devastated past .. the scent of betrayal .. the overpowering hatred .. his love ... was broken pieces of the benches .. his love was the innocent rose which was crushed beneath those benches .. a rose he picked up .. a rose .. then tried to save .. but in the process bruised ..

a lot of you .. wondered why arnav spoke this ... as the author of the post .. i chose to put this interpretation ..

another time .. another marriage ... arnav pulled khushi in the poolside & told her u will marry me .. he gave her no reasons . never spoke of the hurt & betrayal & hatred which was burning in him .. but then he had not made a commitment to her .. yes then to a bud of love was forming in his heart .. but that love then had not bloomed fully ... he crushed it then ..tonite .. he wanted her to know what was in his heart .. how crushed his heart was .. how the truth of the past had tilted his world on its axis ... he laid himself bare once again for khushi ... she knew the place his mother had in his heart .. she knew of his devotion for his mother ..

My ques to you Khushi .. will u be able to live up to the promise u made to him .. "hamesha na ?" will u be able to see arnav behind the asr facade .. will you KHUSHI .. rise in love .. or sacrifice in LOVE ??

the one thing arnav cant do ... is leave KHUSHI ... in love or in hate .. he needs her by his side .. now my ques to you is .. will ne one or ne force break this bond ???

as i end my piece tonite .. just wanted to highlight two shots which specially touched me tonite ...

nani hugging & consoling Khushi .. she could'nt hold it anymore ..she crushed under the weight of such pure love & devotion .. Nani alone knows the truth of Arnav & Khushi's first marriage .. Nani knows what Khushi sacrificed for her family .. Nani knows the purity of Khushi's soul .. today a mother hugged her child .. but today a grandmother .. also begged the child to not give up hope on her grandson .. a grandmother who knew the love chotte has for khushi .. & how devastated he could be if he didnt have Khushi in his life .. nani knows the change khushi has brought in her chotte .. the woman .. who shud've stood in judgement ... the mother . today embraced in love ..

Now once again the romantic in me .. wants to put this interpretation to this shot ...

Arnav walks in .. holds her to him .. he cant let her go .. he has decided to bare himself in front of her .. put all his cards in front of her .. he is hanging by a thin thread .. he is desperately donning the mantle of ASR ... when Khushi sees his hurt forehead .. she knew there was something wrong with him .. he can see the desperation & hurt in her eyes .. the sight of the abandoned marriage hall spoke its own tale here .. she moves to cup his cheek .. when he moves a step back .. not letting her touch him ...

ever wonder why ?? her touch ... is her love ... he love disarms him .. her love will melt the ice around his heart .. her love will make him Arnav .. tonite .. he needed to be ASR ..

Sutradhar - the man who holds the thread of the story together. The man who moves the story forward. The man who would try to control the destiny of those around him. Shyam Manohar Jha. Today he stood back and watched as his pawn went into full execution mode.

When Subhadra Malik came into Raizada mansion, she had no idea that she was just being used. She was needed by Shyam to get him into Raizada mansion. But she really was unable to do anything about it. In her mind, Khushi was once again the other woman, ruining her grand-daughters' life. She had not reckoned that Arnav was so deeply in love with her that he would do anything - literally anything to keep Khushi in his life. She of course, did not know that Khushi would give her life for her husband, as well. In fact, she did not know Khushi at all. She also did not know that she had taken the side of a man who thought little about murdering other people who got in the way. Why Subhadra chose not to listen to her grandson is still a mystery to me - especially when he told her that the man she adored as a son-in-law had tried to kill her own blood. In her mind, Shyam had become her son - the man wrongly accused of adultery. Even though she admitted to it, it was not his fault. It was the fault of the other woman and the fault of his wife - but not his fault. She believed her son was innocent as blindly as only a mother can.

Coming to Raizada mansion and the ensuing wedding of Arnav and Khushi - she gets a new direction. Garima, Khushi's strangely elusive maasi is the other woman of her son's life. Now there's reason to doubly hate Khushi. But then, Khushi does the unthinkable. She brings Shyam back into the house. Shyam is delighted at this turn of events. He is now inside and he can snoop as much as he likes to find out the best way to stop Arnav and Khushi - without going through the hassle of putting up surveillance equipment.

And snoop he does. First he finds out about the Garima link to Arnav's past..

Then he finds a photo in the Gupta house, which he ends up in Dadi's hands. He hides behind walls and pillars as he sees Dadi's confrontation with Garima come to a head. He stays in the background, allowing Dadi to take the spotlight. She has now become obsessed with outing Garima, when lo and behold she surprised him. The clean copy of the photo lands in Dadi's hands and she asks him not to do anything as she will take care of it. Knowing how ineffective Dadi had been in getting him inside the Raizada mansion, he decides he has to have a plan B. But will execute it if and only if Dadi is unsuccessful.

His pawn is running away with him, but since its running in the same general direction he is, he does little to stop her. He is glad he did. He knows that the Raizadas and Guptas barely tolerate him. Every time he even tries to talk to NK or Aksh or Nani - he is rebuffed. But today, finally things are going his way.

The gun that he had put in Dadima's hand has gone off with the effects of a mortar shell instead. Dadi has not stood around to watch the fragments after the detonation. But he does.

He has to know what Saaly-Sahhib is up to. Because Saaley-Sahib is missing from his own wedding. He has to keep his joy hidden from everyone, but once in a while he allows himself a smirk. The sight of Khushi sitting waiting and waiting for her groom to come makes him almost want to clap his hands in glee. But he doesn't. He consoles his wife - asking her to think how Saaley-Sahib must be feeling.

The entire family waits and watches heartbroken as Khushi tries to deal with Arnav's no-show. Shyam however is confident that Arnav will not show up. He will leave Khushi at the mandap. He is almost ready to put up a banner that says - Mission Accomplished.

But to everyone's surprise - Arnav finally shows up, bleeding from a head wound.

Shyam is shocked. He did not expect this! But then Khushi reaches out to touch Arnav's face and he backs off. This is more like it. This is more what he expected from Arnav.

But then like the rest of the family, he is puzzled by Arnav's words.

'Khushi, aaj mein yahan sirf tumarhi wajah se khada hoon, jahan dard, dhoka aur nafrat ke alawa kuch nahin.'

Shyam Manohar Jha cannot read in Arnav's eyes nor face what he means. He knows that Dadi's mission is now Mission UNaccomplished. All that she has done has gone for naught.

Just like the last tme, he has put the game in motion. And just like last time, he made a fatal error. He underestimated the ties that bound Khushi and Arnav. Last time, Arnav had taken Khushi's side. He still does not know if Arnav will marry Khushi or not. But this time, he has kept himself in the background. He has kept any smell of betrayal away from himself. He has made sure that no one knows that it is he who had sent Dadi to do his dirty work.

What he doesn't know is Arnav Singh Raizada's complex mind and emotional state. This is something he never factors into his thinking. And now perhaps it is too late for him to stop the two of them finally getting married.

And if they do, what new misery will he bring in their lives?

Dynamics of Choices

Marriage is never between a boy and a girl

Marriage is always between one family with another

Lets look at a boy and a girl who have decided get married and to live their life together as one, how many choices do they have to make? I am not talking about clothes jewerlry etc. I am talking about choices in relationship and adjustments that come with it. In initial stages Marriage is just 10% love and 90% adjustments. But as time goes by percentage of Love starts going up and the lines between love and adjustments blur into nothing. It is no longer called adjustments but a way of life.

At the start of any relationship all women accuse men and say the following:You dont know how is it to be a woman. I am a daughter, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, mother,aunt etc. I got married into your family. I had to put up with all the nonsense your mom says, the rules of the house are different, everything is new. I do not have the freedom that you men have. I have to make tough choices. When your mom says something bad about my mom I have to hear it and I don't have a choice.

I am a woman too and perhaps in some point of my life I have said something from the above lines, if not all of it. This is the place the dynamics of choices come into play. Think and tell me for once that you did not know this is the life it is going to be. You made a choice to get married and this is the consequence of that choice. Now let me ask this question to every woman here...

DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS TO BE A MAN??

Do you know how difficult it is to be a man? Let's see... You are a son, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, dad etc.. As much as the reposibilty of making choices are on a girl's shoulder the responsibilty is hundred times more on a man's shoulder. Before you shake your head let me tell you why...

Being a son to the mother you have set up a precedence to your mom that you are the most important person in my life. No one can take your place. By marrying you are trying to tell your bride that you are my other half...and you are as important to me as I am important to myself.I have complete right over you and what ever I decide I have faith that you will accept. Now why do you think he does that? Any decision that a man makes sets up precedence for the next. Depending upon who gets importance the dynamics of relationship changes. We women generally say that you have the freedom to do whatever you want. Seriously do they have the freedom that they want? Look at them, they haven't even left the nest. They have not yet learnt how to fly. The mom has not yet severed the invisible umbilical cord. So Do they have the freedom? Men have to make a choice between wife and mom without hurting the other. On one side it is nurture, the very reason of their existence - on the other side it is love, belonging and the very reason on which their future depends on. One wrong choice will lead into disasters in future. It is like the avalanche. As it moves ahead it gets bigger and bigger...

Phew... now you must be thinking what is wrong with beens and why she has written this huge lecture. Well everyone saw today's episode from either Khushi's point of view or Arnav's POint of view. I saw the episode with choices point of view. Khushi has to make huge amount of choices of her own. ASR is trying to make the right choice and weighing in the impact of those choices. Wait in the mandap vs Leave the mandap, take care of mother vs take care of inlaws.Today I saw the epi with the eyes of a man who has the reponsibility of making the right choice, set a precedence and set a baseline. Today I saw a Business man trying to tally up his accounts, do a reconcialltion and balance his balance sheet but whatever tricks he might pull out of his hat to balance it all he is seeing is losses. But is ASR a good business man? Can he turn this loss into either breakeven or profit?

Remember during Aakash and Payal's Wedding ASR says this to Mami "AApko yeh decide Karna hai aapke liye kaun si deal acchi hai.. Mamiji ek businessman honey ke naate main aapko yeh advice doonga ki aap yeh dekhiye ki aapka fayada kahan hai."

Couple of episodes ago it is the same ASR who told Khushi "Ofcourse... Tum meri zindagi ki sabse badi deal ho"

Let me leave you with what I have been teaching my daughter even before she could speak...

My post today is dedicated to all those, who like Shyam, believe that ASR would break Khushi's heart by leaving her at the altar...it's for those who heard what he said, but didn't listen to his words...So, for all those who missed the bus, 20-20 presents to you ASR's FBs, when he left his mom's garden to reach Khushi...

1. His mom & him...in her garden...

A 7-8 yr old boy seeing his mom hurt, tries to punish the source of her pain...only to be stopped by his mom & given some valuable tips for life...

Yes ... The faith ' The Absolute faith of Khushi Kumari Gupta ... has brought him back ... has brought her love back... but is this faith of hers... strong enuf to withstand the volcano that's all in ready to erupt??

i just don understand whether to rejoice over the fact that he is back ... or be depressed over the fact of his statements " pyaar hogaya tha" - its a past tense right ?? does he mean to say that he doesn't love her anymore??

This has been a really tough week to watch. Just when I thought that today's episode would calm my nerves to some extent, they upped the drama element a notch more.

Sometimes, I honestly wonder why I spend so much time on a daily soap, where the drama quotient is so high that it drives me insane at times. Just yesterday, I asked a question to one of my DC buddies, now that they are going to get married, what is left in the story? While we were happily talking about honeymoon, intense rabba ves etc., what do we see today? Arnav rejecting her love in front of everyone. I know I am jumping the gun here, since it may be prudent to wait till tomorrow for the entire sequence to play out. But that is the impression I got when he stepped back when she tried to touch him. I won't talk more about ASR's reaction, since we will all know for sure tomorrow. Though at the moment, tomorrow seems too far…

Now, what is causing a dilemma in my mind is that the impression I got in the last few minutes of today's episode doesn't match with The Arnav Singh Raizada I have known from the past year at all. Here is the reason why. The ASR I know, will never humiliate her publicly. He has humiliated her many times before, but it has always been between the two of them, done in private.

Now, let's move on to why he humiliated her in the past in the first place? At first, he was fighting his love/attraction for her. So, at this point, he was saying hurtful things to protect himself from her. Then, after many months, he accepted his love for her, immediately to be followed by that ugly misunderstanding. He again humiliated her then because he was hurting. He thought she had rejected his love. So, he humiliated her by marrying her forcefully, and by offering a marriage in name only. Note that, this was again done in private. Yes, Khushi faced public humiliation in front of the family because of this action of his, but that was a repercussion of his actions indirectly. He didn't mean to humiliate her in front of family even then. Do you see the pattern here? He hurts, and then he humiliates, and then he regrets.

What is happening today? He is hurting again. This time too it is because of her, although indirectly. But she is responsible. So, what do we expect now? Yes, you get the drill. But is it really going to be humiliation again? I wish I could answer that in the negative. But the fact is that from the pattern I have seen, I won't be surprised if he goes that way again. In this case, he may be trying to protect his mother's memory, his most scared bond.

But what gives me hope against him going that way is that he has grown tremendously in love since then. The flashbacks that he has had are of all the meaningful times he has spent with Khushi. The fact that it registered to him that his mom told him not to hurt people who are close to your heart, not to hurt someone for somebody else's mistakes, the fact that he screamed "Khushi" when he hit the tree. However, he may still hurt Khushi to protect his mother's memory, since he might think accepting Khushi may mean forgiving garima, thus insulting his mother's memory. Since we will find out tomorrow itself if that is the case, I will not speculate further on that. But based on the pattern, what I can answer confidently is that even if he chooses to humiliate her, he won't do so publicly. So, maybe there is more to the last scene than what meets the eye?

So, there is still hope, guys. Try to be calm😊
