Even though not the best, the only one I can get myself to watch anymore is MDK..SeZ, I shall resume soon.
One thing that totally cracked me up: Yeh Torture Hai. Sure thing 🀣 No less than Star Plus' Kyunki Saas or Kahaani πŸ˜†. There's a reason we watch Pakistani shows- for the short length and the amount of things shown in sucha short span of time. YZH miserably failed at that.

Yeah, I thought he was great in Durre Shahwar also! I always liked Mikaal mainly because he used to be one of my favorite male models ever since I saw him in Abrar ul Haq's video Sanu Tere Naal Pyar Hogaya πŸ˜†...but, as an actor I always thought he had potential but wasn't using it to the best of his ability and nor was he doing quality stuff..but ever since last yr, I think he has improved tremendously and has gotten some great projects. I thought he was great in Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan..and then Durre Shahwar came along..he was brilliant and with Shehr e Zaat I think he has really made it as a good actor. I also watch him these days in Manjali & Talaafi and he has seriously become a totally different actor. I'm really happy because I actually felt that the guy had talent but just needed time.

I remember saying this once here on this forum..πŸ˜†..that Mikaal just needs one or two good projects and he'll start doing way better..and right then Durre Shahwar & Shehr e Zaat came and they really did it for him.

I think earlier he got the opportunity to display his talent in Paani jaisa pyaar.. but he was mediocre in that one. Infact Ahsan Khan left a great mark in the little role he had in that serial. I always thought he is good for Ufone ads only but after watching his acing in D-e-s i completely changed my opinion about him.

Mikaal has got very less scenes as compared to Mahira ...say if Mahira has 10 scenes he has around 3-4 ...This is the problem i have with SeZ ...it is just too focused on Falak , agree it is Falak's story but Umera needed to give bit more scenes to Salman to explain his character a bit better.
SeZ drags a lot and yes initially Mahira didn't act so well...she has improved though considering this is her third serial ...Even Mikaal took so many years to improve!

You can't compare Mikaal & Mahira. Mahira has been rated highly after her second drama. Mikaal was never rated highly until he fixed his acting in the past 2 yrs. He's actually getting the success and appreciation he deserves now whereas before he was rated as any other actor, no one special. Mahira was touted as the best thing to have happened with Humsafar..& then she fell flat in many episodes in SeZ when people expected so much from her. I like to appreciate Mikaal because so many people didn't believe he was fit for Salman's role whereas so many people though Mahira was the best choice for Falak. Tables turned though, and Salman surpassed the expectations of so many..and after last week I think he's one of the strongest points in this drama. As you said the drama focuses on Falak..yet Salman still stands out..that has to the with Mikaal playing it well, and as a fan I'd like to appreciate that as I believed he was capable of doing so.

Moreover, Mikaal as an actor in Pakistani dramas is not old at all...merely 4 or so yrs..yes, he's been in showbiz for long because he was a model.

Out of the male actors..Ahsan Khan was by far the best part about Pani Jaisa Pyar. Mikaal's role was nothing special..Ahsan was the surprising element..and I think he deserved it since he was pretty good.

Faisal Qureshi invited Bushra Ansari to his show and asked her about her favorite script writer. I really liked Bushra's reply and feel it fits in with many dramas.

She said that for the past few yrs we've been picking up dramas from novels/"digests". ..writers who write for such a medium have a different mindset because they're more or less targeted for women. So, in their work you'll mostly see the same pattern where merely women are the center of attention and nowadays while we are producing good dramas..a lot of stuff is getting repetitive. And one of the main reasons for that is there aren't many writers that specifically write for dramas..it's all just novels turned dramas these days.

I totally agree with her..and I think that's actually a problem..we need to go beyond novels and come up with scripts for dramas that are more than just the typical stuff we've seen so many times. Bushra further said, that's how it used to be in the epic days of PTV with the likes of Haseena Moin..and we should look into that again.

He as Salman is good but nothing exceptional...its not like people are wohh i am watching this drama for Salman/Mikaal πŸ˜†...its not like he has got as famous as Fawad was for Dastaan /Humsafar.
He is good but thats about it neither his character is like OMG Salman like how it was for Asher.
Like i had said he has a smaller role as compared to Mahira , he probably got around same screen time as Mohib got and i think Mohib was good too in the little role that he played.
On the other hand he had a better role in DeS and Man Jali ...where he has/had much more scenes and gives him more chances to act than in SeZ.
What has popularity got to do with actors improving ?...Did Sanam not act average in the plays she did after Daam/Dastaan till two years later when she got DeS same for Fawad in Ashk.
Popularity has nothing to do with actors doing well in a certain character.

Why are you bringing in Fawad? what has he got to do with anything I said? πŸ˜•

My point is pretty clear..he exceeded expectations because a lot of people didn't take Mikaal seriously prior to Durre Shahwar & Shehr e Zaat. He has improved from the word go in this drama and he deserves appreciation for that...and we both agreed that he doesn't have that many scenes yet he draws attention when he has a scene...whereas a lot of people actually started to watch SeZ for Mahira post her success from Humsafar, yet she received a great deal of criticism for much of her acting in the first few episodes of SeZ..with Mikaal, that hardly has been the case. So didn't see how you were comparing Mahira to Mikaal who never was rated prior to this yr.

and of course Salman's character isn't OMG like Asher because he's a negative character...Romantic characters create a different hype than that of negative characters..how can you even compare the two. πŸ˜†

about popularity: I would like to think as an actor/actress you become popular for the performances you've done..or else your popular for the wrong reasons. With that in mind, I'd like to think Mahira was popular for her portrayal of Khirad. I was talking in that context, you're talking with a different perspective.
