Mahi Aye Ga Review Episodes 1-7
28 Saturday Jul 2012
It starts to tell us the story of a middle aged couple, Akhtar Miyan and Fakhri Begum and their three daughters, Mehreen, Shaheen and Yasmin. All of them are different from each other as chalk is to cheese.
Akhtar Sahab has a very strong belief in the stars and decides to believe that a new visitor in their household is going to change their lives for the best. And his better half, Fakhri decides that this is just a hoax by Miyan-ji suspecting that he definitely has something up his sleeve.
Mehreen being the eldest from their lot of daughters has always been the ideal and perfect daughter for them who's recently been engaged to a very religious and firm believer.
Shaheen is the total opposite of her older sibling. She's someone who wants to have excitement in her life and make it colorful at any cost, even if that means writing a full-fledged novel called, "Badmaash Hasina" She wants to live life her own way even if it means to run away from home.
Yasmin being the youngest, has to follow the footsteps of her elder sisters and must give way for them in every possible way. But she is more of a rebel, a fighter and very short tempered.
Accompanying them are the landlord Chaudhry Sahab and his inquisitive and gossip meandering daughter, Fazeela Batool whose hawk eye doesn't miss even a blink.
Added to this dysfunctional lot is a paying guest who's just arrived in their home. And to add to the confusion, he's also called Akhtar as well.
Fakhri does not want to allow this stranger to live under the same roof as them but is helpless due to her husband's astronomical beliefs and her daughters who are now making scheming advances to get closer to the younger 'Akhtar'.
And seven episodes down the line, I now look forward to my daily dose of this comedy riot which has all the ingredients of a super duper hit written all over it. Add to it, the ensemble cast of actors in it, namely Behroze Sabzwari, Sakina Samoon, Ahsan Khan, Mehreen Raheel, Aiza Khan, Arij Fatima, etc and you have something that's a guaranteed entertainer.
The direction is superb and the editing has been great as well. The production values are very high and the OST is also very catchy too. All in all if you're looking for some top-notch situational comedy then "Mahi Aye Ga" is for you. Its the perfect laughter therapy at the end of a busy work day.
Here's to looking forward to my favorite dose of daily entertainment
