They do it only to close topics about GC and they talk about freedom, coz freedom has nothing to do with putting someone down...

I m new on this forum, Who is Gurmeet and what is so special about him that members either love him or bash him?

Although the purpose of this thread was slightly diverted, it seems like we generally have the same viewpoint on what rules should be imposed, just phrased differently. If we talk it out, we may come across other less obvious issues and deal with them accordingly. Lastly, for the most part, I agree with many of the points listed.

As for the warning level procedure, I personally think that everyone deserves one chance as sometimes we all have that moment. Therefore, I think the the process for warnings should go like this:

1) Reminder PM
2) Warning PM
3) Warning Level

Reminder: This topic will remain open til July 6th - that leave 2 days for anyone who wants to add in anything last minute.

And one more rule:

All articles should be posted at one place: How about creating a thread just for the articles and posting it in that thread. And make that thread a sticky so that if anyone has any article regarding the contestants they post in that thread instead of creating 1000 threads just to post the same article again and again.

1. Differentiation between Criticism and bashing:

Just as all criticism is not bashing,in the same way all bashing cannot be overlooked as criticism. There has been lot of instigation and personal comments on celebrities as well as fans. Saying that XYZ needs to improve/work hard is criticism, but stating that he/she needs to take another birth to become a human/dancer,is bashing. Also mocking someone's name
or calling them a liar isnt criticism IMO.

2. No personal attacks on members:

This applies to all fans as well as non fans. Terming a fan group as immature/teenagers/stupids/droolers,or saying that they just drool/worship or report, or mocking them is not acceptable. Just because they love and respect a celebrity doesnt necessarily mean that their IQ level is 0,and others can pass judgement on them. A little patience from fans too. Even if someone's posts are provoking try to just report or ignore, rather than getting personal.

3. No personal life/other show discussions:

There shouldnt be any personal life discussions of any celebrity,or any indirect mocking. How a celebrity is conducting or conducted his/her personal life is none of our business. Discussions should be limited to the performances of the celebrity performing in the show. Also no discussion about the present or past shows or forums of a celebrity. How YYZ is acting in another show,or show before that, shouldnt be discussed here. Also what happened in his/her earlier show forums isnt related to this forum, so is not required here.

4. One Appreciation Thread:

It is already enforced, but still, there should be only one appreciation thread for a celebrity. It is convenient for all members as forum is less cluttered, and there is no confusion.

5. No Direct/ Indirect sarcasm or digs:

They do nothing else than provoking a particular group and creating an unpleasant atmosphere. Direct sarcasm is still easy to respond to or report, but many times members indulge in indirect sarcasm/mocking of celebrities. Almost everyone understands the celebrity being targeted, yet nothing can be done, as they havent named the celebrity even if its obvious. So a check should be kept on this.

6. Freedom of expression:

For both critics as well as supporters in a healthy way. If someone likes a particular celebrity, doesnt mean that he/she has no right to express his opinions outside the Appreciation thread. Just as some people can dislike a performance,in the same way some members can like a performance too. And if they give their view supporting the performance in a healthy manner, doesnt mean that they are trying to convert a thread into appreciation thread. They are just expressing their opinion. And if that is not possible there should be only one criticism thread for each episode. It doesnt make sense that those who appreciate can do so in only one thread, and those who criticize can do so in every single thread.

7.No multiple Quoting:

At times members keep quoting same reply,or each other's post again and again without adding anything to it. It looks like spamming, so multiple quoting without adding anything should be avoided.

Obviously constructive criticism should be allowed, but members should not be allowed to bash celebrities in the name of "constructive criticism". Not just profanity, even rude words should be banned from being used to describe an actor's dance. We all know when something is rude and disrespectful. When one is critiquing actors, they can do so maturely and this goes to both fans AND non-fans.

I do agree that gushing over an actors' body parts should be limited to the ATs. Even I don't like to read such stuff even when I'm a fan. Normal praising should also be limited to the ATs, though when an actor does exceptionally well in a particular episode, opening a thread about it isn't wrong, just as opening a thread to critique him isn't wrong. If all praise should be done in one thread, all criticism should be done in one thread as well. No double standards should be allowed.
Most importantly, conversation about an actor's personal lives should be BANNED at once! When an actor's family comes to see them dancing, that doesn't give members an immediate right to bash him or her. Actors are allowed to bring their family for support, and when the judges don't have a problem with it, why should members? Also, a member who calls an actor's family rude and uncouth names should be given a warning level without any hesitation, because they are breaking IF's COC on top of posting something totally irrelvant to the forum.
Double standards should not be used. It's true that there are too many threads gushing about GC which can be done in the ATs, but it's also true that there are too many threads critiquing GC that can be done in the criticism thread. If fans of an actor are restricted to their AT, critics should also be restricted to one criticism thread. Then everyone can be happy.
The Report button is there for a reason. If someone feels something is against the forum rules, then report it and wait for the mods to take care of the issue instead of creating a fight! This goes to both fans and critics. Why can't people be patient and wait for the mods to come? They too are humans and not on IF 24/7. Instead of fighting back with people, report their posts and wait for the mods.

COMPLETELY COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THEM πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ !!!!!
