We've all seen Prachi Desai in the garb of a traditional bahu on the small screen and then the Ms Goody Two Shoes kinda girlfriend in the movies that she has been featured in. But slowly, as TV time passed by, the Desai girl got stereotyped as the girl next door. Li'l did people know that Prachi has been itching to flaunt her latkas and jhatkas.
But we caught a glimpse of Prachi – the dancer, when we saw her take part in the second season ofJhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Talking about those days Prachi says, "You have to perform well, of course, and put in a lot of effort, so you are bound to do well. And you have to have determination. Like I had – I did not give up, even after I was heartbroken at being eliminated. But I was lucky enough to come back and then to win!"
But even after winning the competition Ms Desai wasn't spotted doing the popular Bollywood ishtyle on the big screen. Her chance came only recently when she danced to the tune of 'Nach le' in Bol Bachchan. "I am really excited with the response and hope to do more such dances now," the actor said in an interview.
Hmmm, so guess it's time for B-town's dancing divas to watch their step, no? 'Coz Prachi, the dancer has finally arrived! Do we hear a nervous giggle from a certain Chikni Chameli now?

MUMBAI, July 19 -- My sakhi from Seven Bungalows has come to me with some khabar that's kept Prachi Desai's smile intact for a few days now. It seems recently, Raj Kumar Hirani saw her last release, Teri Meri Kahaani and went up to director Kunal Kohli to sing her praises.
The 3 Idiots director told Kohli that he thought Prachi was the surprise package of the film. When the actor heard this, she was obviously elated. More so because Hirani is her favourite director. Last heard, she was singing merrily from the balcony of her suburban abode. Aww!

After switching from the small screen to the big one, Prachi Desai has been able to experiment with a wide variety of roles. Her television role gave her a sweet little girl next door sort of an image. When asked about it she says that she won't deny that she is a very sweet person but the audience only knows her based on what they see on screen but she also has a very naughty side to her.
Apart from that, Prachi is in a very happy space at the moment after being able to finally put on her dancing shoes in her recent release, Bol Bachchan. In her earlier films like Rock On and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, There wasn't much scope for dance numbers. But after seeing the response she got for Bol Bachchan where she is seen showing some of the latkas- jhatkas with co-actor Abhishek Bachchan, She is hoping to be able to do some more dancing and show off her moves.
Quite contrary to her sweet girl-next-door image, actress Prachi Desai reveals that she has a super-fun side to her. And the Bol Bachchan actor says that this side of her is out on full show especially on Sundays. "Well, I don't really have any one day where I go all out to have fun or show that lighter side of me, but yes I have always associated Sundays with having more fun than usual," says Prachi.
"Even as a kid, Sundays would be the most important days of my life back then, as the day meant getting to play, watch TV and no studies. The simplicity of the holiday is probably what I miss the most today as an actor, as Sundays disappear from our schedules," adds the actor, elaborating that as an actor there are no weekdays or weekends, only 'working and non-working days'. "So, naturally any holiday that I get now is automatically a Sunday for me," she adds.
As for her plans for the day, Prachi reveals that she likes to catch up with her friends and that's priority for her on her holiday. "I don't party too much, that's really not my scene, especially when it comes to attending film bashes, but I do enjoy get-togethers with friends. That's when I can really let my hair down. So, I enjoy long drives and catching up on a movie. I also don't mind chilling all day at home, because sometimes after long days of shoots, all you want to do is catch up on your sleep," adds Prachi.
The actor reveals that she also loves to indulge herself once in a while. "That could be shopping or visiting a spa," says the actor. Prachi reveals that though she started off her career on TV, she hardly gets any time to watch it these days. "So, on my holiday, I try to watch TV though I tend to gravitate towards movies more than shows," reveals Prachi.
"I also love listening to music, And since it's rainy season, if time permits I would love to head out of town. I have grown up in Panchgani and it's always been so beautiful there, so I often plan to drive down there on Sundays, but then it's always so much to do in that one holiday that travelling is out of the question. But yes, no matter what the day, I do try to make the most of it, and live it to the fullest," smiles the actor.
