BollyCurry brings to you a few actors who started off their career by acting in a music video!

Becoming a part of one of the most rapidly growing industries around the world is not as easy as eating a piece of cake. It takes a lot of hard work, commitment, plus a really good luck, if you want to make it big in Bollywood. Although the destination is one, our very own favorite stars have taken various routes to reach it. Among many, is the popular method of doing music videos in a leading singer's album. This time round BollyCurry has come up with something very unique in order to keep you entertained! With that let's take a snippet of the past!

Currently one of the leading actresses in the film industry, Vidya Balan Kapoor, comes from the line of music videos. Yes! Before stepping into Bollywood, Vidya featured in the song "Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali" from the album Euphoria Gully. During the late 90's time, Euphoria the indian band which was formed by Dr. Palash and his friends was considered one of, if not the best band in composing pop music. This track in the album that also featured Vidya as an adorable girl in love, became a smash hit among the audience in New Delhi, and this bagged Vidya her first break as a small step into the Malayam film industry. Thereafter, she received critical acclaim in her first Hindi film Parineeta in 2005. If you haven't yet, you surely do not want to miss seeing Vidya during her initial journey towards stardom!

Next up is Bollywood's very own Kaminey star, Shahid Kapoor. At a very early age, Kapoor appeared in several music videos as well as advertisements, with the hope of moving on to bigger and better platform in the future. His debut music video "Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra" by the Aryans also featured Hrishitaa Bhatt in a vital role. Although this video did not earn enough popularity among the audience, Kapoor's dramatic and emotional moves earned him some credit, and with that he moved on to try his luck in other ventures. He then appeared as a side junior artiste along Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the song "Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaave" from the movie Taal (1999), after which he came to a complete stop, only to give his entire concentration on making his Bollywood debut- Ishq Vishq a success.

She was a leading model of the fashion industry, until the stunning diva, Deepika Padukone tried her hands on Himesh Reshammiya's music video "Naam Hai Tera". The song won many hearts and with this, Padukone too, rose to fame as the audience desired to see her on the big screen. But it was not until she bagged the lead role in Farah Khan's rom-com Om Shanti Om, alongside Shahrukh Khan that it came true. This was it, and Deepika knew that there would be no better chance other than making her first Bollywood debut opposite King Khan. After the rapid success of OSO, there was no looking back for Padukone and the charm in her face during the debut music video still retains till date!

This half Italian handsome hunk, Dino Morea worked as a model for quite a while; and before making a career in Bollywood as an actor, he was approached to do a music video named "Koi Lauta De Woh Pyaar Din" for one of Abhijeet's albums. Since Abhijeet was considered among the top composers in the late 90's, his work was highly appreciated, and thus Morea became recognized as well, owing to his attractive face and a really well maintained physique. He gave the best he could to this music video, and it fortunately earned him enough appreciation to make his way into Bollywood. Although Morea rarely makes an appearance around B-Town these days, he has surely upheld the same personality and looks to die for, that made him who he is today.

Among the celebrities mentioned above, there are various others who initially began their journey with music videos before taking a step into Bollywood. The list includes Amrita Rao in "Woh Pyaar Mera", John Abraham in "Chupke Chupke" and "Jhanjhar kis ne banayi", Neha Dhupia in "Sha Na", Sanaya Irani in "Tumko Dekha Toh", and Ayesha Takia in "Meri Chunari Udd Udd Jaaye" among others.

With this we have come to an end of the walk into the past, with the hope that you have thoroughly enjoyed it. We at BollyCurry also await your feedback on what you'd like to hear from us, and we will happily be at your service. Alvida till next time!

'Satyagraha' is the sequel to 'Raajneeti'

'Satyagraha' is the sequel to 'Raajneeti'

Prakash Jha's 'Satyagraha' is a sequel to his superhit 'Raajneeti'. The filmmaker told us, "Raajneeti was a family drama about betrayal. 'Satyagraha' is based on the conflict between a father and son, against the backdrop of the political manoeuvring by Manoj Bajpayee's character. It's about modern-day politics and protests."

Jha further revealed that Satyagraha, much likeRaajneeti, is about a sense of betrayal, family drama, personal conflicts, egos and modern-daypolitical texture. Said he, "It's a modern-day rajneeti."

We have also learnt that Jha's next will be a sequel to Satyagraha and will be more about conventional politics. We will have to wait and watch to see how that one pans out.

Satyagraha, produced by Prakash Jha Productions and UTV Motion Pictures, releases on August 30.

Celebs Around Town: The Ms BollyChili Return

Your lovely Ms BollyChili has had the opportunity to catch up with quite a few events this past week

Tuesday, September 03, 2013 | Copyright: BollyCurry | 2 Comments | 346 Views

Finally making a comeback this week is everybody's favourite, moi aka Ms BollyChili! You know you missed me. I speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In this fashion court, there will be no sugar coating. Thus, your lovely Ms BollyChili has had the opportunity to catch up with quite a few events this past week, and as usual, I have my favourites, and those that could do so much better. Let's get to it!

This guy, THIS GUY, can wear the heck out of a suit. He could wear the heck out of anything - or nothing - but that is a whole 'nother story. Man in black is slick, suave and sexy. Black shoes, black skinny tie, a little stubble - perfect for the first look at his own starrer. Whoo, he's sexy and he knows it. Own it, Abraham!
BollyCurry Rating: 4/5

This is one fresh new face who knows how to make things work. I don't think I've ever seen her in an outfit that does not compliment her - she knows what she can carry off and runs with it. And boy, does she run with it. The black and white ankle-length embroidered Pankaj and Nidhi dress at the Shudh Desi Romance promotions might have been a tad overdone on anyone else, but on Parineeti? With her fresh face and side-swept and pinned hair? Oof, the girl looks good. A little broad-shouldered - not sure if it's the dress or not, but all in all? Not bad, Ms. Chopra. Not bad at all.
BollyCurry Rating: 3.5/5

Where Parineeti went Western, Vaani chose the tried and true traditional Indian anarkali for promotions. Tarun Tahiliani's cream coloured and simple embroidered anarkali made Vaani's skin glow. I especially like the deep maroon of her lipstick. Attention to all the right places, you naughty girl, you. Metallic and shiny heels complete the ensemble and - well, it's only a pity she and Parineeti had to share a date. But I suppose having those two gorgeous women at his arms made Sushant's night. Well done, Vaani.
BollyCurry Rating: 4/5

It's been awhile, Amrita. Where have you been hiding? That pretty face should be out and about more often - though please, choose something a little less loud next time? While Alka Suman's pink and yellow anarkali is pretty enough, it looks like Ms Rao is attending a wedding, not an event for the upcoming Saab The Great. Falling back into the comfortable, eh Amrita? Slightly disappointed - and here I was hoping you would play around with the new styles and venture out into the daring a little. Oh well. Better luck next time - or I won't be so nice.
BollyCurry Rating: 2.5/5

Blue, white, black. Black, blue, white. White, black, blue? No matter which way you say it, it just does not work. Not at all. Take two of that and it would work - blue with white, or black with white, even blue with black! But not that jacket and those pants, never that jacket and those pants. However, all three together? Nope. My eyes cannot take it. For shame, Mr Khan. For shame. I expected better from you.
BollyCurry Rating: 2/5

What do you think? Who needs some Ms BollyChili fashion advice? Because, jaanus, I'm here to stay.

'Til next time, my budding fashionistas!
