One of the worst cases of plastic surgery has to be Michael Jackson.

a friend of mine wants to reconstruct her nose to bring in more luck! 😆 How ridiculous. She is already quite pretty.

I read about a person to tried everything to look like a tiger. There were lots of tattoos done all over the body too.

Why are you digging up something from another thread?
If someone thinks that puppies are adorable and more practical than human babies, that's their opinion. If you disagree with it and want to prove them wrong, then present your arguments. If you find such comments too ridiculous to be worth your time, then please don't pay any attention to it. At present you're being rude, aggressive, sarcastic about something that was nothing more than some harmless banter between two members. And honestly I've told you quite a number of times by now not to act so hostile towards other members.

I Actually do not have a problem with cosmetic surgery .. Things like Botox to lessen forehead lines etc. Not pump yourself with it but a little touch up. I would do that and I am male, at the moment I don't have wrinkles or grey hair. But when I have white hair I will be coloring and when I get wrinkles I will iron them out. And after having kids (don't have a wife) if my wife wants to correct her body like tummy tuck etc. Cheeks fillers and eye lifts.. I wouldnt mind.

I don't like extreme surgery nor the mentality for perfection however $$ not being an issue and you understand looking like micheal is not normal and that you are not tampering and just filling and tucking then go for it.

souro - I am not digging anything. It was just a statement. I thought I could make a statement. It is, indeed always refreshing to see people stay on the topic of discussion. For example, if we are discussing practicality of having kids (another thread), mention of animals is irrelevant to the topic at hand. IMHO anyway.
My reply is also ironic in itself because it has nothing to do with the plastic surgery 😊

Thanks for your comment, though. I agree with most of what you wrote except the rude, aggressive and sarcastic part 😛

Plastic surgery is done to correct an accident or physical deformity. Cosmetic surgery is done for aesthetic purposes. Most do not have a big problem with plastic surgeries; at times, they are absolutely necessary.

Debate is emphasized more on cosmetic surgeries. While they are not absolutely necessary, they do help in making making people happy, even if temporarily. Personally I can see why people go for it, but I think it's better if they can be happy on what they've got. There's honestly no objective standard for beauty, and to just 'play' with ones features to meet the popular consensus of beauty is ridiculous (the society and media is to be blamed partly; the importance it place on looks is ludicrous). In addition to the risks involved in the surgery, this also may lead to people getting the habit of doing multiple surgeries on a regular basis, as they are not (and never will be) content with the end result.

But since I respect people's choice, if going under the knife make them happy, then so be it.

Aging is a physical deformity! Btw I whiten my teeth (dentist) and that is a cosmetic procedure that everyone is readily doing! Why stop there bring on the Botox eye lifts and fillers. I'm gonna age gracefully and beautifully!

^ Aging is not a "deformity". It's a natural and normal process. Cleft lips is an example of physical deformity or birth defect.

I am not even twenty, and I have tons of grey hairs. I was a bit apprehensive about it initially, but grew accustomed to it eventually. Never really cared for looks, honestly. In fact, an overdose of makeup (in girls) and self-consciousness in looks in boys turn me off. 😆

As for "teeth whitening" - yes, it's a form of cosmetic procedure to enhance beauty; same goes for teeth bracing.

Do you mean Dennis Avner 'Stalking Cat' or the Catman?

Does body modification count as plastic surgery? I guess the one's that completely alter facial and body structure probably are plastic surgery but just tattoos and piercings are not.

http://www.oddee.com/item_96602.aspx - People do a lot of strange body modification! 😲 Personally, I don't get it. It is not even becoming 'pretty' like cosmetic surgery. I kind of find it scary. Then again, to each their own. If looking like lizards or cats, implanting octopus tentacles makes them happy - so be it.
