The year of the breakup

Barely a week into 2005, Hollywood's golden couple, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, announced the end of their marriage. Hours before Thanksgiving, TV's Newlyweds, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, made the same declaration. "It truly was an unusual year for celebrity breakups," says Janice Min, editor of Us Weekly. "Breakups can be contagious, and it seems like they definitely were throughout 2005."
