Ok so I know the show ended a long time ago (well not long...just 1-2 weeks) but still I wanted to discuss its last episode. I think pretty much all of us expected Bano dying or at least no Hassan and Bano, and I was fine with it. My only issue thus far had been the ignorance of Bano's child. I wanted Bano to accept him in the last episode because in a way that meant she'd be accepting reality and making peace with her past. However we didn't get that in the last episode. Moreover, my bigger issue is that the episode didn't leave any impact...it's not because it was sad but it just didn't seem powerful or fitting enough. Plus, we barely got to see the main characters (other than Bano). Seriously Bano's employer had a larger role than Hassan...heck Bano's kid had a larger role than him. And what was up with just his back being shown in the last scene? We just got a 30 second Hassan and Bano clip in the whole 40 or so minutes episode.
And wouldn't it have been better to show Bano accepting reality? I mean now she's always going to live in this delusional world and it's such a waste of a person. I think I'd have preferred to have her accept reality and die than see her in this state. However one thing I did like is how they showed Basanta at the end....it showed us that she never let go of her past, and I don't think she ever will, even if she did kill him in the form of her employer.

I agree with u to some extent the episode was not as impactful as it should have been but it was still strong the best thing which i liked about it was that they ended it on a patriotic note instead of a romantic one not like i never liked Hassan/Bano romancing LOL but i dont know how to explain that but i was always more interested in the patriotic element of the show so i loved how it ended specially the last scene takes the cake for me the dialogues by Bano uff simply superb!!
On the other hand agree with u regarding the child issue i would have appreciated if they had shown Bano accepting the child alongwith the reality!!

I understand what you mean about the patriotic theme and I believe that was much bigger than the romance part in the whole story. My issue isn't that, but that Bano should have accepted reality. I mean, it could still have been patriotic had she come to accept her past and whatever else had happened to her thus far. She could have been working to take the nation forward as opposed to being disposed in some mental asylum. Or if not that then I think even her death would have had a more powerful impact...I think my main issue is with the way the episode was handled as opposed to the plot.
And ya I think the last scene was quite good but maybe I didn't appreciate it as much because I wasn't happy with the way the episode went :|

I know it would have made much more sense if they had shown Bano actually doing something for the nation like how she always wanted her dreams of a Basanta free Pakistan i wish they had shown her doing something for those girls who were raped or those people who were still homeless after the partition. I feel that the ending was somehow incomplete i dont know if that was a deliberate effort i felt it was like they neither killed Bano nor united Hassan/Bano to me it was more of a diplomatic end like they left the ending to be assumed by the viewers?
Btw i dont know if u have read the novel but i have heard that Bano dies in the novel and they changed it in the serial😕

Yes exactly it would have been better had she done something constructive, and it doesn't have to be something very big. I mean she could have just been working in some office and taking care of her kid. For me that would have meant she accepted reality, accepted her kid, and was moving on. Now she's just stuck in her delusional world, and I don't know about you but I felt as though maybe Bano in a way represented Pakistan. Hence her moving on and overcoming her challenges would have shown Pakistan doing the same. And if not the Pakistan symbolism, then still from a story POV, the protagonist is always shown to be overcoming their weaknesses and being victorious. But in this story, we got no such thing.
Hmm I don't think it was a diplomatic end, b/c they clearly didn't unite Hassan and Bano, and I'm sure he married Rabia. But I think I know what you mean b/c Bano is always alive (even though she is mentally insane) so for Hassan that constant will always be there, and hence I don't think he can ever fully love Rabia or move on completely. Hassan will forever be divided into 2 :|
I didn't read the novel but yes I know Bano dies and it's somewhat of a very tragic end...maybe I'm not that sensitive but I somehow didn't find this end very sad or tear worthy. I think I would have preferred the novel's end.

The Pakistan Symbolism u mentioned is very well thought would have loved if they had shown something liked that!!
When Bano killed that man after all those FBs i thought maybe that meant Bano overcoming her weaknesses and getting on with life but sadly it wasnt like that how i wish it was though..
@bolded: Exactly my point somewhere i felt that the makers were afraid to go ahead with the novel's ending so maybe this kind of ending?

Yes, exactly! The thing is they showed her employer in the form of Basanta and hence she killed Basanta not her employer. So like you I really thought that meant she overcame her past and in a way killed all those ghosts but alas they didn't do that.
Hmm I'm not sure if it was because they were afraid of the novel's ending but I think they wanted to show that oh look Bano is so dedicated towards Pakistan and you should be to. But honestly I didn't feel any such thing. I mean it wasn't an end at all...they just left things halfway...a better end would have been had they showed us Bano dying (even in old age) so at least we could all make peace with it. Ah well! I mean the show was very good...one of the best dramas I've seen in a long time but I just felt very let down by the end.
